I was lucky enough to have played live with her and specifically this song at new year eve 2000 in Milan duomo square. She was alone, not the band, I was part of a big band comping various artist. My guitar was on full overdrive 8th notes power chords, it was freaking cold, she warmed up my heart and gave me the best chills down my spine I can remember.

There's a singer who made compliments to the band and Antonella Ruggiero. That singer was Freddie Mercury.

They achieved mainstream success and yet their music was quite sophisticated. Unfortunately she left the band and they were never able to achieve the same success. Her replacements were good singers, but they lacked her skill. I think the reason behind the band's antics is that they were in playback. As real musician they didn't like playback all that much.

I was 21 when this came out, one of the best songs ever made. In another reaction video that I just saw before this one, someone mentioned the sneaky key change towards the end where the harmonay vocal becomes the lead vocal. Well noted. Followed by the big climax of the song. Throughout the song it's not just her voice, the same passion is in the music as well. Italians in the 80's had their way of getting the best heart-felt music out of their synthesizers and sequencers.

Found your channel in the suggestions and I LOVE when people from anywhere in the world film themselves reacting to something us Italians do (music, television, traditional dishes etc). Italy is, most of the time, not appreciated enough, not even by us Italians, and many people do not know much about the good things we can do (many still think that fettuccine Alfredo or spaghetti with meatballs are Italian cuisine, or we are still stuck in the 60s or something lmao). Italian music has been fantastic for decades, but the language limitations prevented us from being appreciated more. Now thanks to social media, RU-vid and events like Eurovision Song Contest we are living a sort of Renaissance and damn we DESERVE IT! Lol aside from this I am happy you discovered Matia Bazar and their amazing lineup of female vocalists, they’re a big part of our musical history.
