❤️ what I take away from this: harmony cannot exist if we are all singing the same note. Harmony comes when all of our different notes come together, creating a sound that is greater and more complex than any single note. Celebrate and rejoice in our differences, enjoy the symphony of humanity in all it’s manifestations.
Anna, I love how you put that. I thought of it as all their harmonies coming together so perfectly as a new stronger harmony emerges. I like your analogy better.
How do you upgrade the perfect song? The way Pentatonix does it is to make the perfect song more itself. They took Imagine seriously, and they responded to it. "Religion divides us," the song says, and Pentatonix says "But when you're part of a loving community different religions give the community diversity, and make us more loving and more powerful." Pentatonix celebrates both the things that they have in common and the things that make them individuals, and that's one of the reasons they have universal appeal - they speak to and for ALL of us. In pointing out their own diversity they include all of humanity, which is the goal of Imagine. I'm old enough to remember the evening news on December 8, 1980. John Lennon, ambushed and shot as he was returning home with Yoko, by a murderer who waited around for the police to show up because he was proud of what he'd done. It's been just over 42 years, and the shock and grief are as strong today as they were then; for many of us it was a formative event in our lives. When I hear or sing Imagine I wonder, what else might John have written if he'd been able to live out his life fully? We'll never know. But we know what he DID write - He wrote Imagine. It's up to us to do what we can to make his dream come true, even if we have do it with tears in our eyes. I wish John could have seen this video. It would have made him so proud.
Sometimes I just don't know what else to add to a comment as nothing I could say would add value. But I do want to show you appreciation for sharing your thoughts and experience. I love to read these comments!
My husband passed away September 16th 2022 and in November I was diagnosed with cancer the songs that Pentatonix put out just brought so much joy and so much love into my life during that time and this is the first time I've been on your channel maybe the 2nd and I love your reactions I love your emotions I love your joy I love your message thank you for having this Channel and being you
Now I'm almost crying because I am one of those who's life literally changed directly because I found Pentatonix. They continue to feed my thirsty soul the medicine I need, which you are now dispensing so beautifully. What you just said filled me with so much joy. You just repaid 1,000 times over what you received. I have never, I repeat, never, heard words like that spoken which makes me feel so proud and honored to be part of such a special group. I proudly stand and yell..."I am a Pentaholic!". I love how you react to a song. It makes me appreciate the song more. I will listen to what you said at the end again. I wish more people heard it. I thank you.
Couldn't have said it better myself! These 6 human beings, including both Avi and Matt, have pulled my soul out of some really dark places! I agree, they are life changing!!!
If you want to see Avi literally break speakers and Mitch be completely possessed, react to their performance of AHA! Star Vista Live Singapore. It's insane!!!
This was such a beautiful song when John Lennon if he would have been alive today he would be so proud of the way they did to his rendition of imagine and that's exactly what our country needs today
Great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. Thank you. They are amazing and this message is still needed to this very day. Please react to Pentatonix "Mad World" video. It's awesome. Also, since you are open to reacting to individual member's videos, please react to Kevin Olusola's Performance KOver video "Down". He is incredible. Everything on his RU-vid channel is great.
Those high notes that stopped you in your tracks so early on were sung by Kevin Olusola. He is the beat boxer but also an incredibly talented tenor. The contratenor is Mitch, who's top notes are simply out of this world. The overlap of ranges amongst this group defies description. Any one can cover the ranges if at least 2 others and do so with serming ease. It is not often that Kevin sings a solo, but when he does, magic happens. Phenomenal. Musically there is never one misstep. More important, though, is the warmth and humanity they bring to every piece of music.
I got through the third year after my daughters death by listening to a song a day. PTX’s Amazing Grace and The Prayer have given me solace. I posted on Facebook asking for suggestions. People were so generous with their time to write in support and it really helped me grieve. Much love from Laura’s mom 💕🐝💕
This song was a watershed for early Pentaholics who'd been around before it was released -- it was the first time Kevin had been heard to sing, rather than just beatbox and/or play cello (unless you managed to catch their Sesame Street "counting song" appearance first)
Fun fact: Kevin sings the high notes in the song If I Ever Fall in Love, duet with Jason Derulo, when they do it live. Saw them do this in 2016. Phenomenal.
They are my medicine as I struggle. They are light in darkness. And they never Disappoint. John Lennon would be proud. They are so diverse and yet love each other as family. Would that we could all do this
Omg I agree 100%. I suffer from Lupus & when I'm in a flare up & down, I turn to Pentatonix. So uplift, so beautiful. You're right.....John Lennon would be very proud ❤
Loving your reaction! PTX therapy helped my child and I through the death of my husband and my child's father when she was only 5. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. I hope you continue on the PTX journey. My suggestions: Sound of Silence, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, Thank You, Say Something, Love Me When I Don't
I never really know what to say when I see stories of people that went through such heartship. Everything in me always wants to help, to reach out but it sounds like you did an amazing job of that yourself. Most likely with those that are close to you so I don't really have a place in that anyways... Rest assured though...more Pentatonix to come. I've recorded Amazing Grace yesterday and will edit it soon.
I have loved Pentatonix since the Sing-Off days. They each are amazing, strong musical geniuses on their own but they came together to make the perfect sound. This is one of my favorite covers of theirs. The overwhelming emotion in their delivery - voices and expressions gives this song the power it deserves. And this song also allows the voice of K.O. to really shine. He's a great beatboxer and an amazing musician of multiple instruments but we don't get to really hear his voice very often. I love that this song has no percussion, only vocals. A truly genius arrangement and delivery. ❤
As a confirmed Pentaholic, I am always introducing people to the group. Not pushing, just suggesting they try them out. I hope they see my enjoyment in listening to the group and my absolute awe at each individual that makes up Pentatonix. Each person is a solo grand talent but together they are magic, and as a Pentaholic I/we welcome newbies with open arms and big smiles as we know the awe and enjoyment they will experience in their journey and we see ourselves in you remembering our first Mitch slaps, our gasp of delight hearing Kevin sing, Avi’s super low bass notes (that have taken out speakers!🤭), Scott’s chameleon ability to take over others parts when needed, Kirstie’s beautiful heartfelt singing and Matt’s butter voice and beautiful smile….❤💕🥰 We will always have suggestions of what to listen to and why and be here to watch your reactions to a song or songs we love and celebrate the “flowering” of a new Pentaholic! 🖖🏼🖖🏼💐

Music has so much more power than people realize. It can make us feel love, awe, sadness, power, ecstasy and so on. Who needs drugs when we have music!?
Only in live performances. On their albums and in their official videos the bass (whether Avi or Matt) records a second track that has the bass line of the accompaniment for his solo and they'll layer that in. They decided that it makes the music enough better to justify the minor cheat.
@margretrosenberg420 that is incorrect. Listen again to the studio version of Hallelujah. You can distinctly tell when Scott takes over the bass in the second verse and then Avi takes back over when Kirstie starts singing. Their sounds are very distinct.
@@cradleofmidian666 I hear Scott's voice on the original recording also when the takeover happens. That "layer" theory just started popping up recently. Not sure who started it or why it's being spread after all of these years of the song being out. Oh well...internet.
@@cradleofmidian666 Watch again the video, which has the audio from the studio recording. You can distinctly hear Avi starting his harmony line just before he starts his verse. And you can distinctly see and hear Scott singing something else, so it isn't Scott starting the harmony line early. Then Avi starts to sing his verse and the voice singing harmony remains the same - same voice, singing the same notes - the bass harmony at that point is repetitive so it would be easy to notice a change of voice and it doesn't change. I stand by my statement.
Love you actually getting the signs passed between them are similarities lol we usually have to point that out to reactors haha. I absolutely love this video it’s so beautiful and touching.
So funny that you were saying, at the beginning, "I may be critical"... I was like, "No dude, you will not be critical, you will see this as a great interpretation of the song". Great reaction. I enjoy you a lot
Your reaction made my day, Viking - PTX always strives to respect the original song they are doing - they stay true to the artist while adding their own interpretation, and that breathes a different life into the music 💜- You noticed the shoes Kirsty is wearing, but did you check out Mitch's? 😊😉Love that you have a passion for all types of music, Viking, and that you take the time to share your comments as well as your heartfelt emotions with us! You are very much appreciated! In light, Lisa
PTX really knows how to bring out the true message and spirit of the music they do, and slaps you in the face with the truth! Lol. You should hear their song PRAYERS FOR THIS WORLD! Enjoy! 😊
I’m glad we have made you feel welcome! We can be a bit (?) overwhelming at times. This song, to me, shows how good music can speak the message we need to hear at the time we hear it. John Lennon was such a warrior for peace that I always interpreted this as his plea for nations to see beyond the institutions that so often precipitate war. Vietnam was raging at the time, and the Cold War was a real danger in our minds. Now, with PTX, the message is more for the individual to see beyond the differences that can separate us and recognize the similarities that bind us together. It’s the message we need today, with armed intruders spewing hate as well as bullets. Wonderful reaction, thanks! Peace …
I’ve watched this video many times, reactions and the official video. I still get goosebumps when towards the end, all of their voices come together to sing “Live as one”….WOW!! I also truly believe that the video is the most important part of the song. Their message is the best and I believe John Lennon would agree that this video is much better than his video. I believe he would be very proud. 📌PS: This reminds me of how much I miss Avi in the group 🥲. But ❤️ his solo work!!!
Thank you for what you do you are so positive and uplifting the world needs more of you I have lost my whole family (9) in the last 5 year's on a bad day all I have to do is listen to you and pentatonix and it lifts me up to. get through my day. God put you here for a very special reason .
These comments are both amazing and difficult to me as I would love to say something profound and help you even more but I feel nothing would be enough. How can it be? I am however filled with joy and gratitude to see you take strength from what PTX does and my small contribution to that work. That is the amazing bit ;). I've always wanted to do some good so it pleases me to see that I am doing something. Thank you for that! You are one of those people that I'd like to go to and just give a solid hug...
PTX is a very special group. They appeal to old, young, white, black, and everyone in every walk of life. I took my son and his family to the concert last Christmas. I knew that my 5 and 8 year old grandkids would be safe and enjoy it. It's wonderful to have that in this day.
I saw PTX on Monday and everyone from kids to the elderly were there I even chatted with some of them it was an amazing spectacular night considering it was their first time to Perth Australia ❤❤
Excellent reaction, and I LOVE that you understood the meaning of the cards (some reactors miss the connection of differences/similarities being essential parts of the whole of humanity) I also love your written comments throughout. Looking forward to your future PTX reactions- have you watched their original Love Again? I need to check your PTX playlist. Hoping you will watch Mitch’s cover of Your Power WITH accompaniment and his solo project Messer doing Love Supply, Machine and/or Angels Pray.
You were crushing on Avi's notes but said "Scott." I'm sure it was just a slip. And the high notes you were obsessing over? KEVIN! Can you believe it? He has one of the best falsetto voices in the group! Now I'm waiting for you to hit the REAL "wall of sound" after Kirstin's part. Ought to be epic...
No I actually meant Scott. Avi is always amazing as far as I know but I heard a bit more from Scott here and love how different he sounds from when he was singing the prayer. That is what I meant to say ;)
I was bullied for 10 years, from I was 9 until I was 19, and the one thing that really helped me through this was PTX , there was so many times where I thought of giving up and leave this planet, but luckily Pentatonix was there through it all and their music has helped me through every single day.
You and me both! I’m 40 years old by now and have been bullied my entire school life. I carry the scars to this day even though I’ve worked hard to grow stronger. Stay strong and never give up!
when you add musical quality, emotional quality and profundity and simplicity and complexity and subtleness of this piece of art-together in my opinion you get one of the best musical presentations of all time..
Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic, timeless song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I saw and heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode. Pentaholics are the ones who need to see this the least.
This one always gets me close to tears - not as close as a few others, but they're always on the horizon. Since Kirstie is my favorite member, I always check out her footwear, simply because I can't imagine how she manages to move around in those things without falling down! These are about average for her heels, so it's only a minor miracle that she had no trouble walking in them.
I saw them in concert Monday night by the end of the concert she was wearing knee high boots she is Impressive how she got around on stage in them that's years of practice ❤❤
I hope you’ll check out Avi’s solo career soon! Change on the rise, I’ll get by and Quarter past four are some of my (many) favorites but really anything he’s done is gorgeous!
Love your reaction, this song was relative back then (John Lennon), and it is relative TODAY (Pentatonix), this song will never lose its relevancy. Please add to your list for PTX "O Come All Ye Faithful", Say Something, Havana. I'm sure by now you have the catalogue...😄😄
They are my comfort. My husband said he regretted not telling Pentatonix during the vip q&q at their concert that he’s grateful that they are my therapy, my comfort, my peace. Maybe he will tell them in September. I really really enjoyed your comments. I am so glad I am subscribed to you.
I love you too and It is a pleasure to listen to your reactions. They are honest with some humour in it and it nice to see that you react with so much pleasure, that makes me feel good too, I hope it makes also feel other people as good as I feel often. So please go on and let us be happy in these difficult times for most of us. Apoligize my bad English, I come from and live in the Netherlands but I have seen a little of the USA on holidays a few times ( Loved it ) together with my 2 children . All 3 of us love(d ) your country and the nice people who live there, We miss you. Thank you all for our great experiences and wish you all the best, with much love. A Request of me is Lara Fabian together with Johnny Hallyday singing "Requiem pour un fou " LIVE , singing outside in the rain with a chorus, it''s GREAT and you will remember it forever I hope. My favourite singer is Brian Justin Crum, he became famous when he covered the song "" Creep "" in America Got Talent 2016, most beautifull song I have ever heard the way he sing it. Last year he had more than 27.000.000 views on You Tube, also an epic that you never forget and I like you to react. So many other songs are great of Brian like ""Tell Me " covered by Brian Justin Crum together with Matt Bloyd ( Original by Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand ). So beautifull. Many more songs are worth listening covered by Bryan like Shallow ( A Star is Born, official song of Lady Gaga ) and many other songs. It proofs Brian Justin Crum is not only a star, he is a Superstar who is also very kind and handsame and has a great stageperformance. He has great acts of Queen too. Thank you and have a great time, love you all and STAY STRONG.🥰🧡🙏🦮🐱 Stay all save and healthy ❤❤❤❤
I’ve become a true Pentaholic over the past 9 months. I saw their Christmas concert in December and already have tickets for the summer! I’ve been watching their reaction videos all along and have seen Imagine dozens of times. I cry every single time!! I’ve really enjoyed your genuine reactions. As a fellow Viking, I raise my stein to you. Skål!!!
I love your reaction and how you help to spread tolerance. You are like a love-spraying viking.😜 Can’t wait to hear more. (Disclaimer: It anything I write sounds odd, cringy, hateful or wrong, it’s not my fault, it’s my f💙king lack of english)😇
Haha, i know the feeling as I am not a native english speaker myself. So far... I don't think I've cringed out too many people though ;). Thank you for the compliment!
Those beautiful harmonies….. so good that my goosebumps got goosebumps.. Great reaction again 👍😀 Imagine Iif we all could respect eachother, accept the fact that we are all unique but equal…. After all we’re stuck on this earth together,… 😀
Thank you for your words of wisdom Viking. We are all human and we would get along so much better if we would be open to each others opinions. Live and let live. You have become one of my favorite reactors.
The words I spoke come from listening to others that inspire me and by using common sense. It is exactly that what I’ve meant. Listen to others and learn. In this learning you make it your own and you can live by it :). As someone who was bullied for years and years… it is not always easy to receive these compliments. I thank you!
@@VikingReacts You are so welcome. Sometimes the hard times that we go through mold us into people of integrity and compassion for our fellow man. Thank you for being you.☺
I cried so hard the first time I saw this video. It's just so beautiful and touching and TRUE! These 5 very different people got together and made something magical. Thank you for your reaction!
Mitch himself went through cancer and sang through it. Their version of Amazing Grace always makes me cry because it feels like Mitch sings it with extra meaning.
I can't get enough of watching people who react to any music from any genre but since I first was introduced to Pentatonix by my then 30 year old daughter it's amazing watching the exact same reactions of people all over that I went through myself! After 6 years I'm definitely a Pentaholic and am really enjoying your reactions! Thanks!
Pentatonix is always so uplifting. It’s one I’ve the many reasons I love them so much. I’m loving your reactions. I look forward to seeing more of your reactions to PTX❤❤❤
They share the messages that have to be shared to us all. Even the best of us may need a reminder from time to time. Doing this in musical form… perfect :)
At 4:11 in your reaction, when the high notes start that you love, the video is showing you who's singing them. That was Kevin. He has a lovely tenor voice (though I've heard him get down to a high baritone) and his falsetto is gorgeous. I'm not certain, but I think he can actually go higher than Mitch.
It confused me as I heard several people going into higher notes and I hadn’t really heard Kevin sing as much yet. I did notice it was him during editing but it surprised me during the actual recording. Amazing :)
@@VikingReactsKevin sounds absolutely angelic in Silent Night, the live official video. Also lots of Avi's gorgeous singing in that recording. It's one of my favorite Pentatonix songs. I listen to it whatever time of year
I have went through the worst year ever. My health is not good, but Pentatonix is always there when I need it. I bet I have listened to over 200 songs. Over and over again, hours and hours of music. Thank you for your reactions and most of all a huge thanks to Pentatonix for sharing their wonderful talents. Keep it together so we can enjoy your talents for a long time to come.
Keep fighting and use the healing powers of music! In the worst of times… music can help but it sounds like you know that already :). I wish you strength and the courage to keep up the fight!
This video is my favorite out of every video they have done. They took a message from the 1960s I believe and updated it to today. Sadly we did not learn the lessons from when John Lennon wrote it to now. I feel that the message will still be pertinent. Thank you very much for not stopping during the wall of sound. Also thank you for not stopping the video right before and during Kevin solo
thank you for your thoughts. to see a fantastic scott performance check out his duet with mario jose on 'lost on you'. he's using all his skills and its impressive. pentatonix has a lot of original music that i really like such as 'sing', 'happy now', 'anchor'.
I am just an average person and a passionate pentaholic. I don't have any stories about how they have changed my life or anything. I just feel that they are the embodiment of hope, joy and love. The world needs more of that. It should be celebrated. I absolutely love your reactions to them. Anyone can jump around hooting and hollering, saying that they love the viewers favorite artist to get views. But, a GENUINE reaction is what I WANT to see. I think that you saying that you didn't prefer either version of this song, was the PERFECT compliment. I wish that I could personally thank your wife for introducing you to them. Because, I am reaping the benefit from it. Thank you for this. Btw, nice giggle
Don't be ashamed of your tears, I'm a grizzled old Gen-X Metalhead and punk rocker, and both John Lennon's lyrics and Pentatonix's beautiful harmonies make me smile and cry all at the same time. (Freya's tits, could you imagine if they applied their talents to the lyrics and rhythm of the songs of Blue Oyster Cult?)
I have watched hundreds of Pentatonix reactions, but yours touched me more than any I have watched. I am so glad you are part of the Pentaholics, and I am now a fan of yours. Thank you for your heartfelt reactions.
My husband killed himself last February. I found Pentatonix last September. They have made the worst year of my life more bearable. Have you encountered SuperFruit? SuperFruit was the separate channel that Scott and Mitch set up where they could deal with things that Pentatonix didn't want to deal with as a whole on their official channel. They vlogged. They talked about the realities of being gay. They made some extremely funny videos. And as of February 14, 2019, they stopped. No more SuperFruit - they've moved on to other things. But all those old videos are still there and still worth watching. As I said, there are a lot of very funny things on SuperFruit, but there was one song they did that was dead serious. In response to the Pulse massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlado, Florida in 2016 SuperFruit got together with three friends of theirs, also all members of the LGBTQ+ community, and also all wonderful singers: Brian Justin Crum, Mario Jose, and Mary Lambert, and together they put together the most powerful rendition of Katy Perry's "Rise" that I have ever heard. It speaks of defying the odds, and transcending adversity, and reaching your full potential, whoever you are. This is the song that has been getting me through the holidays and anniversaries: The first Thanksgiving without my husband. The first Christmas without my husband. My first birthday without my husband. The first anniversary of my husband's death. I expect that I'll still be listening to it on my own deathbed, decades in the future, and it is one of the reasons I still have all those decades that are in front of me. Highly recommended. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U85U3dPuiR4.html
This may be the perfect example of how we all have our individual meaning to a song. It connects to us on a deeply personal level. I can't even imagine what you've went through and are still going through. You facing more decades due to the healing power of music gives me hope. Hold that thought! I have not yet encountered Superfruit but have had recommendations. I will check them out eventually and respectfully. All the best to you and thank you for sharing your story!
