Pentatonix's HEARTFELT Cover of "Imagine" by John Lennon! | Twins First Reaction 

Mitch and Scott share LGBTQ+, Scott and Avi share Man, Avi and Kevin share American, Kevin and Kirstie share Christian.They also are individuals - Avi is Jewish, Kevin is Black, Kirstie is Latina. Regardless, we are all human. The ending, before Kevin's verse, is called their "Wall of Sound."

The first card was Mitch as LGBTQ, he then passed that card to Scott who is also LGBTQ, and also Man, he passed the common identity of Man to Avi, who also identifies as Jewish and American, who passes American to Kevin, who also identifies as Black and Christian, he then passes Christian to Kirsti who idenfies as Christian, Latino, and a Woman.

Kevin is often overlooked as a vocalist, because of his usual role in the group, but he is a talented musician, and a phenomenal vocalist in addition to being a percussive phenom. He is a powerhouse, and his solo projects are nothing to sleep on. His version of "Down" definitely needs you to watch it. You will be blown away. Bring extra socks!! The ones you wear will be knocked off! Lol

The words showing on the card while it was passed is what they have in common and share, the words they flipped and showed without passing are identities they have that they don’t share. I believe this was supposed to show how they have similarities, but are still very different from each other and despite their differences they’re all human and can come together harmoniously…..like we all should

They were showing their diversity in their small group -- so different, so unique, and living as one. Imagine that.

Music is a memory 'retrieval' cue. It can even reach through dementia, it has such immense holographic properties of affecting many different types of memory storage capabilities. From personal experience, emotions, physical location, etc that connect to when and how the piece was responded to. I saw wonderful use of it by a master musician I met, Tony Piazza, who applied it to aid mental institution patients.

Guys you REALLY have to react to their cover for "the sound of silence". The emotions there are unbelievable! They truly did justice for the "Imagine" right here, but also for "the sound of silence"!❤

You are the first reactors I saw commenting about the meaning behind the "wall of sound". THANK YOU for this. I feel like so many people gloss over it. It's about the beauty born from working together. But this beauty comes from a struggle. The struggle to be your individual self, while also letting the others shine and merge their way and their lives with yours. At first their voices are separate, and it feels like they are tying to "one-up" each other. But then they merge in this beautiful wall of sound, which is amazing as a whole, but allows you to recognize each contributions. This song is not about discarding "labels" (what makes you unique). It's about accepting other people's uniqueness and understand that our "common label" (human) allows us to understand each other and be as one in the end.

The way you ACCURATELY got everything about this video, even how the Wall of Sound was them each riffing individually and then at the end coming back together...I can't hit thumbs up enough times. Someone else suggested The Prayer and I cannot second that recommendation enough. I'm also super partial to New Rules x Are You That Somebody.

Since your on this Pentatonix journey I think you need to check out Scott and Mitch's duo subunit group they have together called superfruit.. they did a cover of Katy Perrys song Rise it's so amazing! The cover also features Brian Justin crumb, Mario Jose and Mary Lambert who are all amazing vocalists

Recommend their cover of The Prayer. To me, this is an amazing upgrade from the Dion /Bocelli version. I believe this might be their best work. If you don’t feel this version, then you’re not human.

I love Pentatonix and I have been thinking about getting tickets for their performance Sep 29th at the Hollywood Bowl. I just recently listened to Imagine and I was so moved, I bought tickets right after I heard this song. Thank you Pentatonix and I cannot wait to see you in person in 14 days! Peace

So each card represents themself and the person next them that they pass the card to. The next person holds the sign for a few seconds also identifying with it and then flips to a new identifier and then passes it on and so on down the line showing that they all have things in common but are also different from each other.

Mitch started with their identity and passed it to Scott who also identifies with that word. Then he flips the card to reveal another word and passes it to Avi, and so on. So the word passed to them is one that identify as/that they are. I hope I explained that well.

Not only can Kevin sing and beatbox but he is an amazing chellist and just before joining Pentatonix had just passed his exams to enter medical school. I’m convinced that their talents know no bounds.

I am so glad you caught the meaning that they were putting out there. No matter what label the world wants to put on us and how we all have our own voice that needs to be heard, we are at the end of the day, only human and need to be treated as equally important. They used their talents to beautifully make a picture of how this is a reality that can and should be a part of our everyday life.

I appreciate how thoughtful you two are. You pointed out a couple of things about the song and the PTX video that I hadn't thought of before. BTW, this is one of the PTX videos where the visuals can detract from full appreciation of the music at first hearing so that may be why you didn't feel the chills until the second hearing. Those chills happen to people who have an emotional response to music when something in the music surprises them. That triggers a physical response similar to what your caveman ancestors felt when suddenly hearing a possibly dangerous animal coming through the forest.

How they are related and how they are different. They are what we should strive to be. Gay, straight, Male, Female, Black, White, Latina, Christian, Jewish, showing that individually they are strong but together magic can be created!! That was magical! Thanks guys.

To really experience Kevin's talent, watch his cover of Down. It is truly amazing. For something completely different, I recommend Hip Hop goes Broadway 1 and 2 (or something like that) by Superfruit. Superfruit is the duo of Scott and Mitch. There is nothing to research, and won't be any deep meaningful conversation after, it's just plain funny. As far as Pentatonix, I suggest The Wizard of Ahhhs, with Todric Hall. Watching the movie beforehand as a refresher wouldn't hurt.

He never came back... he had passed away November 24th 1991. At the time they only had about half of the song finished by the time he died so that is why they put the guitar solo and that’s why Brian had to finish the rest of the song. His last vocal word was “love”. He never got to finish this song... Only this man could sing like that whilst dying from a horrible disease. What a legend.

Hello Jared and Jordan, The cards held by each singer showed their own traits, and then when they passed the card to the next person, it showed the trait that they have in common with that person. The message is that we are all unique, have our own traits, but we also have so much in common with each other, and in the end we are all the same - human. PTX has excelled again with their vocal mastery, stellar solos, layering of voices, crescendo and the wall of sound, and taken an epic song released over 50 years ago (1971) and brought it right into today.

Whenever I need to have my faith in humanity restored, I watch people discovering PTX. It is a beautiful thing, watching people drop their jaw, widen their eyes and start to lose their walls. I just binge-watched your PTX reactions. I love how thorough you are in your research and your thoughtful comments. This song is more necessary now than ever, we are at a time when a peaceful world and unity in humanity it is not just a nice dream to have, but a necessary goal to aspire to if we want to save the planet and your comments were spot on. I know we would all love for you guys to react to all of PTX, but for starters may this Pentaholic humbly suggest their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence (PTX based their version on Disturbed’s cover but this is an upgrade on the upgrade). Also maybe One where Kevin plays cello. I like Say something and Radioactive. And later you might like to see some of Avi’s solo work since leaving the group - Change on the Rise is amazing and powerful and he composed, arranged and sang all the vocals in there. Each of them shared at least one of those traits, which allowed them to pass the card from one to the next, while also being different, and in the end just HUMAN. The message is that we're all unique, yet all the same and all human and we need to start accepting one another and appreciating our differences and commonalities and working together and loving one another for just our humanity. Look at what these 5 can do, with all of the diversity packed into this small group of people, and look at what they can do when they work together. 🙂

Pentatonix is AMAZING! Home free is a country type a capella group. They do an amazing cover of Man of Constant Sorrow Another amazing a cappella group is Voiceplay. I would recommend their version of Phantom of the Opera
