Being Taylor's very first single, i think this song really captures how amazing her writing has always been. As someone who enjoys country music every now and then Taylors early stuff means a lot to me. Also, fun fact, taylor has had the same band since 2006, they still currently tour with her on the eras tour nearly 2 decades later. I think it would be cool for you to react to some more of Taylors early stuff! Something from her second album might be a good place to go next. I would direct you towards 'white horse' for the writing. If you're looking for a bop I would definitely say 'the way I loved you' or 'forever and always' are great. All three suggestions from Taylors second studio album 'fearless'
i'm glad you enjoyed the song! i'm digging the new camera angle, but i don't mind the original one either, i guess it's just about whichever one you feel most comfortable with. and since you reacted to a debut song and enjoyed it, i'm thinking maybe you could do more reactions from this album, it's so underrated! my fav songs from debut are Cold As You, Mary's Song and Should've Said No. her voice sounds a bit rough (especially in Sould've Said No) but obviously she was very young and has worked really hard on vocal training since then, that's why i can't wait for Debut TV, im really excited to hear this album with her matured voice!
Yes!! So happy to see people giving her first album a listen. This is the song that drew me in to Taylor Swift when this came out on Country. I loved it and followed her throughout her career. So glad you enjoyed this!
I love her first album. Should've Said No and Teardrops on My Guitar are my fave's from this one. Love the new camera angle, but didn't have a problem with the old one either, so whichever is more comfortable for you ^_^
I love so much that you listened to this song! Which is one that I edited a fanvideo to on my channel ages ago because I was always so captivated by the writing of this one. The stories she tells the lyrics I just wanted to bring to life and I visited The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films to it, specifically the romantic couple were all their scenes are in Greece so it's kind of funny that I take a lake and grease and beautiful sky over there and make that the Georgia stuff and you know I found some artistic license for lyric matching but honestly so much of it I have such fun memories of matching the lyrics this song and vidding it. I really am so happy that you appreciated it for what it is and that this was the first one you chose to react to just like make my heart sing a little bit. I'm pretty sure I made my video when I was first starting College around age 18 for me and I'm Taylor Swift's age almost exactly, a month younger than her (I'm born January 1990, she's December 1989). I have been with her on this journey for a while. I agree with others who love the idea of you reacting to "Should've Said No" or "Cold As You". Both of those have always been big favorites of mine. I didn't even remember Cold As You was all the way back on her first album. I vidded it after a friend of mine perpetrated a murder-suicide and it's the most personal and therapeutic fanvideo I've ever posted to my channel and that song's status in my mind is enshrined on a pedestal as ridiculously impressively powerful and i just appreciate it so much for helping me process the single worst traumatic event in my life (although I've been through plenty of other trauma, like an abusive parent etc). I have never in my life seen a reaction to i think any of the songs on Debut until today when i saw this one and i watch SO many Taylor Swift reactions. So. Thank you got doing this. And anyone curious to check out my Taylor Swift fanvideos, a comment from someone new on any of them would mean the WORLD to me. I'm so proud of my work and have a playlist of the Taylor Swift ones.
**Adds “brain eyes” to personal lexicon** “Cold As You” would be my top pick for the next first album reaction. It has some of the best writing and there’s a line that I think is one of her best period. I’ve never been a fan of country, so I pigeonholed her right off the bat when I was in high school (2006-2009) and didn’t start truly listening to her until college when I fell in love with her Fearless album. I never listened to her earlier albums on repeat for years quite like I have with her later ones, but I went back and listened to all her albums in order before watching the Eras tour recording and her first album was way better than I remembered. Even just now I was going back to see which songs I’d recommend to you and kept finding great one after great one. Someone else mentioned Picture to Burn and I think that’s probably her best pop country style song on that album, but Tied Together With a Smile, A Place in this World, Our Song, and I’m Only Me When I’m With You are also excellent writing. They foreshadow a lot of the style (lyrically and musically) that she eventually develops.
@@DeathMetalDadReacts That’s how all neurospicies come up with their best stuff. I have no idea what’s going to come out of my mouth until I’m saying it. Sometimes I surprise myself with how composed a thought I spout when it’s my first time hearing it too 😂
This was the song that made me a fan. I remember listening on the radio when it first came out and hearing about a new Country singer named Taylor Swift. I have loved her more and more ever since. I think an underrated gem on the debut album is Mary’s Song. It has great storytelling and was inspired by a long-married couple who used to be neighbors to her family.
After all of these years, I JUST realized that the third time that she said “when you think Tim McGraw” she was talking about when he hears her song on the radio not the old one they danced to. 😅
My top 5 songs from Debut album: 1. A Place in this World 2. The Outside 3. Mary's Song (Oh My My My) 4. I'm Only Me When I'm With You 5. A Perfectly Good Heart I hope you can react to one of them.
Ok, it was a fun busy weekend. Grand baby and bonus grand babies (DILs sister) and both sets of grandparents (you never think you’ll get close with your kid’s in-laws, but it’s wonderful when you do and zero competition). Anywho, completely agreed with your Tim McGraw assessment. I’m as old as her mom, but I’m a huge Swiftie and love songs and breakup songs and beautiful songs are ageless. Taylor played Mary’s Song today as a mashup with So High School and Everything has Changed for the acoustic piano set and just had the best smile. This girl’s in love and she’s showing it to everyone. I hate to give her previous record company any change by playing anything from Debut or Reputation, but it’s getting so hard to wait for Taylor’s version for these last 2 albums. Check out Mary’s Song. It’s the story of one of her neighbors in Nashville and it’s beautiful!!
I was just thinking I’d love to see you do some of Miranda Lambert’s music. I strongly dislike country in general, but I love her stuff. I believe she’s written basically all her songs and they’re up there with T Swift creativity in my opinion. Not quite as literary/poetic. A bit more of a sharp witty sass vibe. But she’s got some very beautiful, poetic songs too. I think my top recommendations (from the 3 albums I listened to nonstop in 2015) would be Mama’s Broken Heart, White Liar, Baggage Claim, Guilty In Here, and Heart Like Mine. But practically every song is great. I’d be interested to hear your impressions of the music itself. I’m sure you’d pick out things I’ve never noticed before.
Circling back to add “Better In the Long Run” to the list. It’s not one I’d usually like because I can hardly stand male country artists’ voices, but the harmony is so good. It’s a duet she does with Blake Shelton who she was married to for a number of years. I wasn’t very aware of them when they were together, but I seem to remember them kind of being country music royalty and had a wedding that people tuned into like it was it was a British royal wedding. People were pretty upset when they got divorced.
@@DeathMetalDadReacts Mine too! I figured it was mainstream enough that you’d probably already heard it. You’ve probably heard Mama’s Broken Heart too. I think they played that one on the radio. It’s such a clever song though.
I was born the same year as Taylor and finding out you're roughly her age (and therefore my age) is killing me lmao. I refuse to accept this, you are my death metal dad. I do like the new camera angle, it's a little more visually interesting and dynamic. I hope cleaning up from the flood(?) is going well!
I love that she’s re-releasing her albums and she deserves to own them, but I hope she doesn’t do this one. She still has a bit of a kid voice here and losing that would take away the charm of this album. I like the new angle but as someone else commented, whichever is more comfortable to you is what you should use.
