I'm very impressed by your reaction to your first BTS MV. You understood the lyrics and message BTS wanted to convey in this song. In fact, I was so impressed with your genuine and positive reaction that I just subscribed to your channel. To give you a little background to BTS their group name originally meant Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Their mission and focus has always been to empower the youth to work toward their dreams. In fact the two songs they sang in their debut performance in 2013 were called "No More Dream", and "Bulletproof pt. 2". In No More Dream they address the fact that, especially in South Korea, the youth have given up their dreams to become a government worker, or what society and their parents expect them to be rather than pursuing the dreams they had as children. In Bulletproof pt. 2 their message is to give youth the tools they need to defend themselves against things that would "shoot them down". In their next single, N.O. they sing and rap against a hellish society keeping them in jobs that again take away dreams. BTS debuted as a Hip Hop group back in 2013, but created their own unique sound by 2015 with their smash hit, "I Need U". I believe it was around 2018 that BTS officially changed the meaning of their name to "Behind the Scene" , which still advocates to empower youth. BTS as a group and as individual members have donated millions of their own money to help protect abused women and children, provide food for the hungry, conservation of the planet, and helped send much needed supplies to Covid ragged India when they were battling the deadly Delta Variant. BTS fans known as ARMY first donate a to India and BTS matched the contributions. In 2018, they spoke in front of the United Nations General Assembly and partnered with Unicef to Launch the Love Yourself campaign where they, again, wanted to teach youth to Love themselves. They also released 3 albums called the Love Yourself Series. I hope you do react to more BTS videos. You are smart and insightful and seem to respect BTS. As long as you continue to deliver genuine and supportive reactions, you will find that BTS fans will back you up 100%, and fans will also make suggestions on what to react to next on your BTS journey. By the way, I've only been an ARMY since April amd their music has really inspired me.

I believe this was the first BTS song I listened to as well. Served as a great gateway into their music. Also if you want a bit more details about RM's lyrics about giving up on 3, 5, 6, and 7 check out the term Sampo generation (along with variations on it for each of the different numbers). Each of those numbers refer to giving up on specific things that previous generations got to enjoy but they have to delay due the various issues with the econominic situtation in South Korea. So for example, the first three are giving up on dating, marrying, and childbirth.

6:09 "Given up on 3, given up on 5, I like number 6 ...". Lost in translation :p "Given up on 3" refers to "a generation who gave up on 3 necessities" (3포세대). 1. Romantic Relationship 2. Marriage 3. Procreation Now, "5 necessities" include 4. owning a house 5. any personal relationships RM mentioned 6 because "육포" (Beef Jerky in Korean) starts with word "육", which is 6 in Korean. Basically a word play :)

BTS is currently the biggest band in the world, they have crossed language and cultural barriers. They just won Artists of the Year at American Music Awards 2 days ago---the biggest award that night beating Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Drake, and The Weekend--- along with 2 other awards (Best Duo/group and Favorite song for "Butter"). Last year IFPi crowned BTS as the best-selling artist in the world and Time magazined picked them as the Entertainer of the Year. BTS started as a hip hop group with 2 underground rappers and a famous local street dancer as their first 3 members. They debuted in 2013. BTS's company started small and noone ever predicted them to be this huge cultural phenomenon at the beginning of their career. BTS has a vast discography (around 350 songs) done in various genres like hiphop, pop, edm, trap, jazz, soul, reggae influence, rock, and rnb. The music itself is mostly well-produced and many of their songs have received praises and are critically-acclaimed. All the members have always contributed as either writers, co-writers, or co-producers in every album. Besides their high quality music, what makes BTS stand out in the crowd of hundreds of kpop groups is their lyricism. BTS talks about real things that are relatable and matter in life like the pain of growing up, societal pressures againts youth, mental health, self love and development, socio economic injustices, and the states of their inner self such as them dealing with fame, hates, and criticism they received over the years. Since you're a metalhead, I suggest that you react to Dionysus and Fake Love next as they have rock vibes. I loved your thoughtful reaction. I think Dope is one of their best songs to start off with because it illustrates how they create songs with meaningful messages. I prefer their social commentary songs such as Dope, Baepssae, N.O., Go Go, Ugh (by the rap line), Am I Wrong (which could have got them black listed by the government). I also enjoy songs from the 'Love Yourself' era which have helped many people through bad times in their lives such as Fake Love, Trivia: Seesaw (Suga solo), Epiphany (Jin solo), Magic Shop, Best of Me. Of their more recent songs I enjoy Black Swan, Life Goes On, Telepathy. They are brilliant lyricists and some of their songs have such clever wordplay (in Korean & English) and cultural references that they need explanation videos. I won't lie, when I saw "metalhead", I was expecting someone loud and aggressive - but you're so calm and even soft-spoken. Very nice chill vibe. This was a great song to start with too. When you get to know BTS more, you'll appreciate this song even more, coming from them. They were the underdogs of Kpop (debuted in 2013), under a small company (not one of the established Big Three) that was close to bankruptcy... and now they're a global phenomenon (and totally deserving of it too). Their story (background, context) is quite unique in the Kpop world. It's not just because millions have decided to hype them up - they have real substance, and it's been so since day one. Great first song to react to. Their lyrics are always positive and very deep. These guy are the hardest working dudes in Kpop. They got a huge amount of hate when they first started. They were with a small label called "Big Hit". The label wasn't giving the same radio play time, they were told they were no good, they will never make it, they are just another boy group, etc... BTS is still with "Big Hit" and now that label is huge and they are killing it! Two of the members "RM and Suga" are from the underground rap scene in Korea. They got a lot of hate from other rappers saying they were sell outs since they are main stream "Idols" now. I think we all know who is laughing now! Check out some of there solo projects calling out the haters and destroying them. By the Way, BTS just won the American Music Awards "Artist of the Year" and one of their newest songs has been nominated for a Grammy in 2022. I hope they win a Grammy, they totally deserve it!

Hi, some things about this boys. *Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with the term "kpop". Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.

Well, the first thing to know about BTS is their versatility in a multitude of musical genres, be it hip-hop, pop, edm, ballad, r&b ... etc. But, keep in mind that like all k-pop groups they have a genre - core - that influences them, here for BTS, it's hip-hop. Then, for your information, the group started in 2013, in a small company, they had very complicated beginnings with little promotion, so they had to work very hard. In 2015, they started to blow up in Korea, with the title 'I need U' in particular, it is as a result that they started to gain more visibility, especially in 2016 when 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' dropped which has attracted an international audience and also a banger like 'Fire'. In 2017, they really started to dominate in South Korea and spread elsewhere, they are the first Korean act to receive a Billboard (Top Social Artist) that year, then it's freewheeling and, today they are the biggest and most popular band in the world (they are the first act in a lot of things so far, lately they were the first to receive an Artist of the Year at AMAs - first Asian act - and they received a second Grammy nomination, still the first act). There are a lot of fan-made or non-fan-made documentaries that tell their story, but I think you're more interested in the music of k-pop groups and not really who they are (it's usually more interesting for reactors who want to dive into the rabbit hole that is BTS), which is okay. So, to stick strictly to the music, the songs that are closest to rock are Spring day (Brit Rock ver), Fake Love Remix, Dionysus, Boy in Luv, Epiphany (only a little). I must say that they are not yet leaning much on rock but it is not impossible that that will happen one day, their style is constantly evolving. Be aware that in k-pop, in general, in order for groups and members to stay together longer, they are allowed by their companies to do solo projects, usually albums/mixtapes/EPs, others do modeling, others act in films or series, it allows them to have their solo (musical) career but also to keep their carrer in a group, and to have activities. The BTS rapline (RM, Suga and J-Hope) each released solo mixtapes - free - for fans (available on Soundcloud and Spotify), RM and Suga (whose solo career name is Agust D) both released two mixtapes each. They really do conscious rap on their mixtapes. The vocaline (V, Jimin, Jin and Jungkook) don't have any mixtapes yet, I know the V and Jungkook mixtapes are in the works, they're taking their time, but otherwise the vocaline released some OSTs (and covers), the most recent of which is 'YOURS' by Jin for the k-drama Jirisan. Another OST will be released in a few days by V. Otherwise, they all have their own solo songs in the group albums. If I am telling you that, it is because it is quite possible in the releases in the future of the solo mixtapes of V and Jungkook to have more influence in rock. I'm sorry for this long text, also know that their single 'Black Swan' is absolutely to see, it's just a masterpiece, in visual, music, dance and lyrics. PS. Also know that the work of BTS is very intellectual, their last series of albums ; "Map of the Soul : Persona" and "Map of the Soul: 7" are influenced by the work of the swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. So in all of BTS's albums you will find depth, also know that when certain songs seem to address a typical love story, depending on the songs, they are often songs more centered on what is 'Love' as such (philosophically but also in human terms) or it's a song addressed to Army (BTS' fanbase). As you probably already know, BTS has 7 members.... they are a very close "family" and totally genuine. Army is usually into reactors who put thought into their reactions because there is a lot of thought put into BTS' music. So... good job! Dope was a great choice for a first reaction to BTS. It was actually the song that got me hooked. I haven't checked to see if you've done any more BTS reactions yet, but I would recommend Black Swan, Blood Sweat & Tears, On: Kinetic Manifesto, and Mic Drop. It's also not a bad idea to check out some of the introduction to BTS videos to see where they came from and what they've accomplished. I'm sure there are plenty of recommendations already. I love that you're paying such close attention to the lyrics. That's definitely gonna come in handy with BTS. I would love to see you react to Black Swan, ON or Life Goes On. Those are pretty recent compared to Dope and definitely have lyrics worth analyzing. Also, speaking about one take videos, they actually have one for a song called Save Me.
