Guys, apologies for turning this reaction into a therapy session haha, I didn't expect this to be more than 12 minutes and yet someone it turned into 20! We're ending this year, or beginning 2022 (depending on where you live and the time difference) with a BANG! Back with another BTS reaction, enjoy! And obviously I put a disclaimer in the beginning for those who are not into these types of videos! Apparently "short and sweet" is not how I do things haha!

... you'd love the channel of *bby* *gang* *mag* 👍 "Fake Love" is part of *2* story lines: The BU (Bangtan Universe) that really began in "I need U" (their first true hit) and the concept of the three "Love Yourself"-Albums. The BU has (I think in "Run") the "Save me" and the "I'm fine" writing, too. They are also 2 songs that connect ("Save Me" has an MV but the other doesn't; both songs belong together) The candy, the fire, the water and some of the other stuff belong to it and represent trauma (specific in the BU). It is tricky to interpret if you don't know that background (Big Hit and BTS don't believe in babying the fans; they believe good music must challenge you and can transform your thinking) The story begins with the intro of Serendibity where you first begin to fall in love, the main song is "DNA" where it feels perfect and the outro already has the first questions on "Love Youself: Her". In the Intro "Singularity" the writer is already aware what is wrong but refuses to aknowledge it: they have pushed some part of themselve into a lake that has frozen over (the unconscious being the lake) but also know that that won't hold. In "Fake Love" we go from "I don't know why" to "I do know why" and the relationship rips apart. The Outro Tear holds all that pain, the "there is no forever". That is the second Album "Love Yourself: Tear". The third Album is "Love Yourself: Answer" which adds to the whole story "Epiphany" the knowledge that I need to love my imperfect self/soul first before I can "love" others. I always thought that the story does not really blame the other person for what is happening but themselves as they didn't understand that they don't have to be perfect to be loved. They hurt theselves with that expectation/that try. On the third Album is also the song "I'm fine". Love your long video! It was perfect! 💜

random things that I realized while watching this video: Jin at the very beginning of the video shut JK out of the room he was in by closing the curtains, trapping himself with the flower in the glass jar. When explosions destroyed the room around him he tried to protect the flower by sacrificing himself, but at the end it had turned to sand. His sacrifice only hurt himself, while the flower died anyway. It could be that the flower was always sand, or that it didn't matter what he did to save it because it was never meant to last. He then walked away and we don't see him in there again, meaning he got out of the room hopefully Jimin and Suga were unable/unwilling to find their way out of the rooms they were in and presumably burned/drowned, signifying how not escaping a toxic environment/relationship destroys you. J-Hope just gave up and went to sleep after isolation and drowning his sorrows in sweet things didn't work (substance abuse, maybe, but I don't want to assume it's that dark) RM is stuck in a scene of shipping containers, there are also handles like a subway train. There's a window where he can look out, but there's no doors to exit. I think it could mean he feels trapped, and has no control over where he is going. Hopelessness. V seems like he finally started looking outside the virtual world and realized he needed to change, but is stuck with the image he's been projecting of himself and doesn't know how to get help (save me/i'm fine) In the interlude/silent part of the MV JK picks up sand which turns into flower petals. JK realized that the things he thought were valuable "love" were fake, and as he let go of it he realized how beautiful it could be once he accepted that and a new path literally opened in front of him. Much of the video is JK seeing the other guys suffering, and how his world falls apart. The empty hangers at the end could symbolize how he lost all the other guys. I love watching reactions because it makes me see things I didn't previously even if I've definitely watched the video 100 times. thanks for the video!

I'm only 4 minutes in but I think it's important to note that sometimes ppl "fake love", not because the other person doesn't accept who they are, but because they feel like they aren't good enough or because they often project their own insecurities. This can totally be someone taking it upon themselves to make changes that no one is asking for.

17:40 woah! where did you find that information??? yes, that "Save Me" is an ambigram.. it's not when you flip it, it becomes "I'm Fine," but when it’s upside down... actually, BTS have both songs, they wrote "Save Me" in 2016 and then they answered it with another song "I'm Fine" in 2018 also, to add another symbol... the BIG white hands background AND their choreography, they incorporated the actions of the three wise monkeys 🙈 See no evil 🙉 Hear no evil 🙊 Speak no evil i really like your reaction you nice, keep going 💜

Well, you should know that BTS has an entire universe, a universe that takes place from the albums The Most Beautiful Moment in Life released in 2015, which links albums, short films, video clips, notes, webtoon, book. What fascinates fans is the richness of cultural references in their songs as in their music videos. The multitude of theories which have been developed to understand the history and the difficulties encountered by the youth of the world have not ceased to amaze us. It's based on characters inspired by the members of BTS. A drama by the name of “Blue Skye” is currently in production, and a series “7 Fates: CHAKHO” is a webtoon that will be released this month, January 2022, it's a story inspired by a Korean folk tale telling the story of seven tiger hunters who form a squad to avenge the deaths of their loved ones. Members of BTS will take on the role of the Seven Hunters who are bound by fate, their trials and tribulations as well as why they must be together at 7. I don't know if this particular webtoon will somehow tie into the BU, anyway, they've already started teasing this webtoon via videos, trailers, and cryptic messages. Going back to the elements of the BU, I recommend that you start with 'I need U (mv)' and 'I need U (original ver.)'. The MV for this title tells the story of the seven members in an alternate reality, illustrating their anxieties and uncertainties about their future. As a result of this video, multiple items and content were released around this time and in their third era. It was because of the popularity of the fictional universe that Big Hit Entertainment eventually called it the "BTS Universe". In a July 2017 interview, RM explains the origin of their MVs "I Need U" and "Run" saying, "Stars Wars came out decades ago, but people still go to the movies to see it. It's not just like something that sticks around for 5 or 10 years, you know what I mean? Our agency understood that and they always told us how important it is to create a universe like Star Wars or Marvel. " General synopsis : Seven boys. Best friends. Their destinies intertwined through the good times they had together, but also the difficult ones, as they followed different paths and suffered a lot as a result. When all was almost lost for them, one of them was given a chance to turn back the clock and help his friends right the mistakes that led them down this path. He would do anything to save them, but can he really? Or is it too late? The BU contains a lot of cultural influences, I will only mention a few here : such as the book Demian by Hermann Hesse from which the WINGS Short Films (short film) are taken. Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Giulio Quaglio the Younger (paintings and cathedral ceiling) appear in the MVs of "Blood Sweat & Tears". Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving. The sculptures The Venus de Milo, Laocoön and Her Sons (only the bust of Laocoön), Livia dressed as the Ops goddess, The Crouching Venus, Perseus with the head of Medusa, Ares Borghese, Pietà, and the painting The Lamentation for Icarus by Herbert James Draper all appear in the “Blood, Sweat & Tears” MV. The expression "'Magic Shop" is actually a psychodramatic technique allowing the subject to exchange the fear he feels with a positive attitude. In teaser 1 of the MV 'Fake Love', there is a reference to the book Into the Magic Shop by James Doty which takes up this theory. The painting The Raft of the Medusa by Théodore Géricault appears in the official teaser of the game BTS Universe Story and it is mentioned in the notes of Map of the Soul : Persona. In short, this comment is already long, but know that if you are in the symbolism and artistry, know that BTS gives a lot on this level, more than I have never seen with any artist. So, it's up to you, online you can easily find lists that guide you if you want to start your adventure in the BU or otherwise you can continue as you want, you can also interpret these videos without needing to absolutely see the BU. Because I know that the BU is very heavy and intimidating, and it's not for everyone. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you need to. Ps. As for Fake Love, the dance movements, there are as you said a lot of emotions, if you see it again, you see the recurring puppet movement, like Jimin who raises his hand to control the movements of others, it leans on the impression of manipulation, of lack of freedom, of not being oneself. And, Happy New Year, Bonne année et bonne santé. 💜

Happy new year! I have to say (caveat: I love BTS. They're my favorite musical artist right now and kept me going through the past couple years. So I don't want to piss off any other Army, but...) when I first heard this song, back when I started listening to BTS I couldn't help think that it could be interpreted to refer to toxic Fandom and the impossibly perfect standards that the kpop industry sets up for the artists. Always on, 100%, beautiful, no dating, always dieting, be nice and friendly and accessible but unattainable all the time. It's all fake love, because the idols we adore aren't the real people. In fact, many fans don't want them to be real and get aggressive and mean when they display human attributes or personal lives outside of that little bubble of perfection. Just my thoughts from when I first heard it.

I like to watch reactions to bts songs and you were the first one who moved me to the point of tears. His understanding of the music was very insightful and accurate I would say. The part of the phone that Tae is holding and you talked about social media, the boys created their individual accounts on instagram and some people who call themselves fans, wanted to say what to post or not to post in a publication or story. They have the right to post whatever they want, they are adults and there are people close to them that help with any queries. They can ask if a particular video/photo would be a good post or story and the fan cannot give their opinion but has no right to say what they should post. I don't know if I'm making myself understood. It's one thing for them to already have the material and asking for an opinion, another is for the fan to interfere with their own personal tastes and impose it on the idol. About Save me and I'm fine yes you're right. It was a really good reaction.

So I think you analyzed this music video very well, and I loved your take on it. BTS wants people to get their own views and theories out of their videos, so you did very good. However, the meanings of this song follow the Bangtan Universe (BU). This is an ongoing storyline that has been following their music videos, short films, web toons, even a game, and they also have notes. I actually just bought the two books of notes that are the foundation of the story. But, if you follow the videos in order, you should be able to follow the story. I will link the videos below in order of how you should watch them, with accurate subtitles. It ties into the BU yes but it has so much symbolism within the video, the scenes, the dance, the art used, the lyrics... also this instrumental is one of my favorites. fake love will always be my favorite BTS title track. oh and the candy represents childhood lost and addiction. you weren't far off at all haha. also there's little to no cgi in this. just a tidbit haha. I appreciate your reactions because you catch on so quick to symbolism and don't apologize for it being long! 🖤 to this day though I still don't know what the ending hand means ...

Great analogy on the snickers bar, the great thing about bts's music and music videos is that there is no right or wrong interpretation, BTS themselves confirm that their videos are open for interpretations,. But they do have a BU (bangtang universe - its like the marvel universe. Their music videos are interconnected with each other since debut. And they released webtoon, notes from their physical album and some long music videos.) the snickers bar in an obvious army analogy is connected to their BU. I will not spoil it for you but please do check it out.

BTS has a song called "Save Me" that fades out intro the intro of one of their later songs: "I'm Fine" >:)
@RisuAlto
@RisuAlto 2 года назад
This video is a little old now, and others have probably covered it already, but regarding what you said about the "save me" written in that mirror-- you're 100% correct that BTS has a thing where that "save me" text becomes "i'm fine," but the transformation actually happens if you flip it upside down. They have a song called "Save Me," which (in a way that I don't think would spoil your experience listening to it) is about how the singer wants to be saved and thinks that the love of the person they like will help them. However, the album series called "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" where these songs first appeared is all about the process of learning to accept even the broken, dark parts of oneself and learn to love yourself anyway. So, the sequel to "Save Me" is a song called "I'm Fine," which is about how the singer has now learned that they don't need someone _else's_ love to be whole and are learning to be okay as they are before trying to love again. "Save Me" and "I'm Fine" are often performed back-to-back in BTS's concerts, and in fact the order in which the seven members first sing in each song is opposite each other. Even if you don't react to it, it's definitely worth listening to both songs right after each other and possibly looking at a live performance if that's something you'd be interested in.

Fake love is the first song and MV i watched from BTS. I think the context of that song is very important : it was made as a part of the Love yourself trilogy. The first album of this trilogy is Love yourself : her and the title song, DNA, is about meeting someone, the fun part of a new beginning, thinking you were ment to meet, it's destiny. Then Love yourself : tear came out and the title song Fake love is about not being yourself in that relationship, wearing a mask (Singularity, the intro of this album, has the same theme. The MV has a lot of masks) and then came Love yourself : answer. The title song, Idol, was about embracing who you are (BTS are proud to called themselves idols - member of a kpop group - even though idols are critized for "not being real artist, being too manifactured"). The intro song of Love yourself : answer is Epiphany and is all about how you should love yourself before anyone else. That's the message, the trilogy is about the journey to loving yourself.

So, the way I see J-hope's scenario is like the carnival objects and the all the candy represents a kid, like a hurt inner child. Inner child would be the psychological and even spiritual kid that we used to be, most of the children were neglected and didn't have their parents attention, so they grew up not knowing how to express their needs and feelings, not knowing how to solve a problem without getting hurt, and obviously, when you grow up evolved by this imagery, you have no idea that there are other ways to a better outcome. So J-hope interpreting the character that was hurt, surrounded by all this past wounds, past traumas, that he accumulated since childhood, seems to be completely in pain, or even numb to the self destruction he is causing, having no idea how to get out of this vicious cycle.

One thing that makes BTS so great is because they have so many layers to them. To the casual listener/viewer there is a meaning or interpretation that can relate to everyday life. You peel back that layer and there is the deeper dive of this being a part of their ongoing fictional story they created that ties to other mvs & songs. They are pure genius.

Great reaction, you're really good at interpreting it. And about the meme yes you're right, they actually have a song called 'Save me' and they later released a song called 'I'm fine' which is kind of an answer to the first song, they even used some of the notes of the first song reversed to make the new one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8hOZ538bfgY.html I recommend their songs 'Black Swan', 'Blue and grey' and 'Spring day'.

This is a great song and your reaction was excellent as always. BTS lyrics are deep and it's always a challenge to "TRY" to decipher them hehe. Some lyrics are straight forward and others are deep simce they may refer to other songs or personal experiences as a group. Typically the loyal fans (called ARMY) pickup on these references quickly. Definitely check out some other BTS songs. They have a LOT of songs as a group and each member has some solo songs. They are the hardest working guys not just in KPOP but in all realms of music. Personally, I don't think they are real. They have to be robots because I don't think they ever sleep considering the amount of music and other shows they have created!! AND,........ it's all really good. They never miss!!

hi okay so i actualy know a thing or two about this song and a big part of its meaning is that the song is about the relationship with yourself and not two people, although its totaly okay to interpret it like that the bts storyline is all about learning to love yourself and this song talks about how u pretend to do so but sometimes choose to hurt yourself cuz deep down u dont have enough selfworth. also the masked person at the end is a symbolism of carl jung psychology whom bts is verry fond of and have used often and this scene symbolises the act of jk chosing to go put on a mask ( wich speaks for itself) or at least confront it.

So a few ppl have mentioned there is a storyline that runs through older BTS videos including this one. They reference a few books too. This MV is heavily influenced by the short story ‘ The ones who walk away from Omelas’ which is about a utopian society where everyone is happy and prosperous because there is a child in a room suffering for the sake of everyone else. And if anyone shows that child a shred of kindness the utopia will crumble. JK is the child. Jin wants to keep JK in the room to keep everyone else happy so he closes the curtains on him. But at the beginning V helps JK up in the dance and then the explosion in Jin’s room occurs freeing JK. Slowly he makes his way through the rooms (you can see him look in on each member), and as he does the fake realities crumble and the others have to face their original storylines. Fire, water, cell phones, chocolate bars etc all mean something to each of them in their backstory. (I think Suga smiles at the fire because he knows this means JK is free. They were paired together in the original storyline). At the end Jin tries to hold on but JK frees his hand. The flower petals represent each of the boys and Jin used them to manipulate their storylines. I highly recommend watching the storyline in order. A quick google search for BTS universe storyline order will get it. Totally worth it for a mind like yours.

4:55 interpretive dance. BTS music videos and dances always tied down with song and lyrics in intepretive way (for different songs in different ways ofcourse). I just came across this reaction and I really like your interpretation! I’m sure others have told you about the BTS BU and what this all means within that storyline. But I’m glad you delved into this before you heard about the BU. I think these videos shouldn’t be limited to that storyline, I think it was Intended that way...that you can have your own interpretation of it and I think yours is spot on. There’s another iconic song that has a video that can be interpreted different ways...that’s Spring day. I hope you can react to that before you watch or read about it’s “explanation”. I think it’s so meaningful in its own way that you should go through it on your own....then Watch the explanation video. I’m really not into kpop...just BTS and now New Jeans. This song is apart of the 'BU' a story that runs throughout some of they're MV's (they are marked with BU). You don't really need to know the back story to enjoy this MV tho but most of it goes back to the story line so some things you missed or interpreted different. I love you're thoughts on this tho. You should do 'blood sweat and tears' you'd loose your shit over that MV's (also apart of the story line). save me/I'm fine are also 2 songs they have that are mirrors of eachother, (save me has a 1 take MV) the amazing thing about those songs are I'm fine is save me beat reversed 💜

This IS part of their storyline mv's but as far as face value, I think your interpretation holds up as good as any other....At the end, my interpretation (without the storyline entering into it) would be that the cloaked figure is his true self, whose been locked away "in the dark" and whom he just found again.

Be warned, though, that it all pertains to the BU (Bangtan Universe). Also, there is a "making" video for this (as with most of their other videos) that shows that these were all practical effects, not green screen.
