I forgot to add it in the description and I'm sure you worked it out but the first part of the intro is how it was originally recorded before being reversed on the album. I recorded it then copy/pasted it in reverse and joined them together so it sounds continuous. I wanted you to hear it the way it was written. It blew me away when I reversed it in the audio editor and got this menacing German march style tune that sounded unreal. Even after 25 or more years of listening to this album, I still here new things. My favourite album of all time

Gives me chills every time. Most epic intro ever. I had no freakin' idea they played it backwards. Would love to know the story behind it. Were they in the studio and someone just tried it out of curiosity or was it planned beforehand. Anyway, I am so glad they did. I also love the forward version, but backwards these harmonies blow my mind.

I had never heard the Blackened intro backwards until I saw this video. That was awesome! The moment of anticipation just before the "real" intro kicked in gave me the chills! :)

The original intro (they way it was first written) is great. the thing is, the reversed intro (the one used on the album) carries a foreign (as in "non human", uncanny valley) tone. it's like an unsettling sensation that i couldn't explain when i was younger. when i saw the video i finally understood why, as i had no idea that it was reversed. what makes it even more brilliant is the way it resonate to the song's theme of devolution (degeneration to a lower or worse state) following a nuclear war.

Awesome tone and awesome picking accuracy man. Although you got the end of the main riff slightly wrong. Missing a few notes. The galop ends with B-C-C-F-E. Keep it up.

There is a scene in Terminator 2 where Sarah hits a security guard in the face with a broken mop handle or something. If you notice, the screen flashes white right when she hits him. It produces a jolting effect if you don't notice it directly. You used a similar effect here, and it worked really well!

I feel so blessed and lucky to see him live July 86 in Louisville Ky. METALLICA opened for OZZY. HANDS DOWN THE BEST CONCERT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! Absolutely unbelievable stories surrounding the days before, and after. Maybe another time when I got a good buzz and time to kill. Then September 28, my best friend Scott, who was with me at the concert in Louisville calls to tell me the tragic news about Cliff. Weird fact. Scott's last name was Burton too. Just soul crushing man. I met Scott at the OZZY Bark at the Moon concert. Way more to tell there too. Anyway, I wasn't able to really handle the fact that Metallica was gonna go on! I was a kid and a real shithead! Now I'm 52 and a real big shithead! I digress. So I'm out of school doing well, and the Monsters of Rock is going to be at the Acron Rubber Bowl in Ohio. My girlfriend wants to go, so we go. Really easy because I was working in Ohio, so we had a base of operations. The line up was Van Halen /with Sammy, the Scorpions, Kingdom Come, and METALLICA, there was one more band, I can't pull the name out of my brain man, maybe Dokken? But that doesn't sound right. I smoked a lot of pot, took a lot of LSD and drank boatloads of Jim Beam in those days, so there are some blank spaces here and there. Alright. Back to. This was before METALLICA released The Justice album, and I was still thinking that you know, who the fuck is gonna step up and fill Cliffs spot? When I heard it would be Jason, I wasn't sure, but then they played Harvester of Sorrow at Monsters, I think it was the third or fourth song into their set, I had to give Jason a chance. Glad I did! And I gotta give him credit for stepping into that spot! Holy hell, that had to be unbelievably stressful!! But he did awesome! And is still kicking ass. His artwork isn't half bad either. Alright, that's it. You absolutely crushed this song man!! Just crushed it!! Also the first time I've seen you standing up. I was beginning to wonder if you were crippled. BAH HAHA HAHA! Something about when it reverses, everyone I’ve ever spoken to. When they hear that intro, like some dormant beast awakens. We are called, summoned, everyone I’ve ever spoken with says the same. It makes you feel something unspoken. An untethered rage about to explode. It’s absolutely beautiful what sounds can do, and there are few things as urgent, and quite frankly, as fucking badass and brutal as that intro. It will always send chills down my spine

guys, the original song is 450hz standard E, where normally its 440hz. thats why the main riff sounds off. i think he used a bass backing with the drums
