Seriously. The bass through this whole DVD is just amazing. Those Sadowsky basses (especially in the hands of a competent bass player such as Jason) have so much juevos ranchoros its freakish.
I was so shocked to see Cunning Stunt when I first saw it on my VHS back in 1999. Of course Liveshit is great too but as I saw this performance first, the impact was bigger on me. Sounds clear and very tight.
whoa jason was on fire! also james' voice was on par here great to hear. and creeping death is my fav song currently along with unforgiven. Long live 'tallica.
@IronPriest82 the song is written from the perspective of an angle. hence the lines I CREEP ACROSS THE LAND KILLING FIRST BRON MAN. IM SENT HERE BY THE CHOSEN ONE. LAMB BLOOD PAINTED DOOR I SHALL PASS. IT REFERS TO THE VENTS WHICH MOSES WAS IN.
that performance is just PERFECT,my favourite one ever from creeping death!! listen to lars (4.50-5.09) see him at 1.50 : HUGE!! cunning stunts rules!!!! bye!!!
this is what exactly what james was talking about. if everyone said they wanted every next album to just like MOP then it wouldnt be exciting for them. they make music that they like. your not a metallica fan if u just like them from 83-89
what r u talking about jason and kirk's backng vocals add flavor along with when jason sings it all adds a flavor to the song that was never there before
I fucking love screaming the "back to the meaning, back to the meaning............... of wolf...........AND MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN ! YEAH!" That bit is my current favorite.
When I started playing guitar, I played low thanks to James...now MANY years later I can't play any other way. Helps that I have long arms though, LOL!
Jason was such a fucking badass headbanger. I could totally see him playing bass for a band like Lamb of God or Chimaira or one of todays true metal bands
In all fair respect, Rob Trujilo has only been with them for a few years and they're probably still getting used to things, I still think they rule the metal world of music but I see your point! Jason did have energy when he was around! :)
....Don't tell me that's Newsted on bass and Mr.Kirk Hammet on lead?! Geez they look so dorky like that! Glad they're leaning towards their old ways again!!! \m/
I wish Lars played like this now. Yes, he was never the best drummer in the world, but he played parts that were unique to him and somehow fit into metal. And he played pretty good here, a little sloppy but...its a live show. Ill take that over Dream Theater (who I absolutely love on record) but sound like robots live.
@blackmarvel94941 Hey! I like DM and Black Album, but the agressivity of both aren't the same as before. Power Chords and Vocals aren't in Metallica anymore.
@SmieshNorway i think the total opposite lol, i think jason was amazing on backup vocals but rob is an amazing bassist and personally i think his slap bass style is pretty awesome and fits in metallica pretty well, a lot like cliffs style of finger picking. jason was a good bassist but rob is one of the best around.
Serisouly? Hetfields best live performance ever was Seattle 89' Easily, Listen to his voice in this. Its all over the place. Cracking and shit. In 89 its soo much more distorted, Has alot more growl to it.
@fuckingmetalheadbang Lars is an awesome drummer and i actually have proof he never stopped playing drums the way he used to his drum mics were really low for like 2 years straight e.g people used to say that when he played the double bass in one it was never the same it is its just the vlmeof his amps make them sound like single beats i have a bass booster and i thought i'd check it out
@scottislegend everything in moderation it's just like with soloing, no one wants to hear you just sit there and sweep pick arpeggios all day just because you can, and no one wants to hear you sit there and gravity blast for 3 minutes just cause you can. it's better to mix and use blasts for explosive parts of the song that need it.
fucking bastards, i love metallica, i always thought thats why metallica named the dvd that :D ah well, nevermind the haters, but thanks for the postive feedback man, i always stick up for people who get "thumbs down" wrognly too.
