I'm actually sad they play this (and Master of Puppets) live about 20% faster (intentionally) because it's over faster. And to be honest I like it at album speed better. I have the concert recording as they give them for free to all who see them. And will get another in June. But now have 3 spare copies of the album (as a ticket gets a free album).

And I feel you on Metallica, Sori. I HATE them beyond Master of Puppets. I really do. But stay open to the first 3 albums. AJFA has good songs on it, but they seemed to have forgotten to include their new bass player in the mix, so they alienated me with that one.

The Hermit You get to blame Mr Lars Ulrich for that one. He wanted to have a certain drum sound and the bass would have taken over some frequencies, so he insisted on the bass being turned down.

When you listen to it, know that the bass is VERY forefront in the song. Like, to the point that some parts that sound like guitar, are actually bass. There's a track of the song out there that is bass only. It's insane.

That's one of my favorite songs on Master of Puppets. Awesome song. It's crazy how good the B side of that Album is. I mean, really, there is no B side on that album at all.

Cliff burton was their bassist until just before AJFA came out. He was killed in a tour bus accident. He was a classically trained musician and did most of the arrangements on their songs. Thats why there is such a big shift in their style transitioning from AJFA to the black album. I wonder how metallica would have evolved if cliff didnt die.

Also, there are another bands that would be great if you guys react to: Orphaned Land, Melechesh (booth form Israel) and Myrath (from Tunisia) :D

AJFA is my favorite but the black album was still fucking awesome. Yeah it was different but they weren’t trying to be a thrash metal band with that album. If the black album had been released as their first album or by a different band, everyone that says it sucks would love it.

And Justice for Jason is better since the bass isn't turned down. had to make sure got the title right.

VinAnd Sori there are so many. The ones everyone mentions are excellent. The full version of Cemetery Gates is probably your best gateway into their sound and ability (video version is chopped). If you start with some of their later work I’m not sure you will get it. Hard to explain. After that go with I’m Broken, This Love, then No Good (interesting social commentary about how we are programmed to hate one another from an early age, but killer groove and delivery). Best damn metal band, with best guitarist hands down.

To each their own. I feel the opposite, Metallica bores me, I just don't feel like there is enough depth...but again, this is my opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with me :)

While I respect Tool and like quite a few of their songs, I always felt that Maynard's side projects were better than Tool. Apart from Danny, Maynards vocal and lyric, Tool doesn't have much for me to really appreciate. There are moments where Adam has awesome guitar parts but apart from a few songs its pretty Okay and, I dare say, boring, kinda like Messuggah. While I enjoy their songs, a lot of what they do is similar.
