Andriy must have been losing his shit because this sounds fucking amazing. Just imagine actually what it was actually like to be there. He's a lucky guy.
Chue X That and Lars also took the deafening, motherfucking snare that he used to record all the soundtracks St. Anger and replaced it with his wonderful Black Album snare
I know it's probably never going to happen but I'd love to hear them play the entire album live at some point. Maybe for its 20th anniversary in 4 years... would be cool.
Metallica is the only band that releases an album and everybody goes oh this sounds weird oh they changed.... And then 10 years later you hear the same songs played live and you go oh hold on this sounds fucking awesome. They did it wit load they did it with reload and now St anger. That's why they are the best. They play music from the future
I think it has to do with an entire new generation of people growing up with the music and getting used to it. I never had a problem with Load/Reload because when I became a fan it had already been out and to me was part of who they where.
a bit of this has to be with the fact that these songs are played with the tunings of their standard material. The album versions have different tunings and sound structures, but on stage, they are played just like they would a master of puppets or nothing else matters. As a result, its more familiar and sounds better to the audience
it wasn't exciting at all. They played Frantic instead of St. anger, moth instead of halo on fire, here comes revenge instead of harvester and no fade to black either.
@@jod_hates_it_here6895 Agreed, they have ALOT of fans BUT they need much more, everyone most days is into this 'Pop Music' with 'Justin Bieber' and bloody Ariana Grande, they deserve more attention .
Th3 S4v4g3 honestly when you look at the numbers and in general, metallica has more individual fans around the world than almost every pop artist ever. they have a massive fanbase, more than any artist that actually has a radio presence. METALLICA STILL RULES THE WORLD🤟
Exactly. That's what I think about the whole album. Although there's no gems on it, the songs are not that bad. The production ruined everything. A proper sound would have help a lot.
@@metjovi exactly. And they did not intend for any "gems" to be on that album. They purposely wrote nasty ass sounding songs for it. It was what they were feeling at the moment and that's what a call pure art.
@@petergunner8666 yeah the lead part during the choruses is done by the bass and sounds way better. That Hammett in the choruses really hurts the sound. Otherwise really good!
Schottentor I live in America and i was listening to 105.9 the rock on the radio. When they do play Metallica it's usually the hits off the black album. Sometimes they play Fade to Black or Hero of the day. Sometimes they even play Turn The Page from Garage Inc.
@Lancer1131 The album does NOT suck, the songs are just too long and repetitive with some bad lyrics in a few of them but the riffs are great, however they don't need solos I don't agree.
@Lancer1131 I can understand, but Load and Reload were good aswell, I can get why people didn't like St Anger, but not Load/Reload, they were sick! I don't understand why it bothers everyone that Metallica evolved into a better band that can play several types of music, that's just made them better and made me appreciate them more. And I didn't even like Country/Rock etc. but these dudes made me love it.
@Lancer1131 I understand the frustration, but on the other hand it is their right to play what they want, the metalheads got 4 thrashy albums, and the others got Black, Load and Reload, which is pretty even, but overall all these albums are just great if you only think about the musical aspect of it, I'm not here to listen to just one type of music, I'm here to enrich my musical knowledge (that's just my opinion though) and Metallica did just that. I think we should all respect the bands that stay true until the end, and the bands that don't and want to do something else, they're just as good to me.
Most of the songs have potential to be really great, but the production on that album was the worst of any Metallica album. The snare, lack of solos, and overall mix ruined it completely. But as we see here, the album still has greatness that can be seen in a live setting!
Yeah that's why half the crowd including front row concert goers are just standing there barely nodding their head waiting for them to play an actual classic Metallica song lol.
Arnau Hernàndez i was there aswell.. awesome performance of frantic and concert :-) 6 out of the 18 songs they played i had never heard live before so i was super happy with the concert!
Like Occam's razor. I think your comment is right ON!!!! \m/ \m/ I always want to hit people that attack Metallica for St Anger. They are the fake fans!
I have never understood this line of thinking. You’re supposed to blindly like everything a band does if you like them at all? St Anger had out of tune vocals and guitars all through it, a trendy refusal to solo, songs that went on for far too long and the worst production known to man. You can say all that and still appreciate the band. Many songs were ruined through the performance and production but there are moments of great writing in there.
@@RiffFlair You're entitled to your view. But almost invariably, those that dislike St Anger, then launch into an attack on Lars Ulrich. Obviously you don't appreciate what Metallica did there. So, can you be classified as a fan? I'd say no. But then I use the term of the Italian "tifosi" way it describes fans of the Scuderia Ferrari
George Kam Then I am not the only one, who should see a doctor! You don’t get it, do you? It’s a matter of speaking.....a way to say it was loud....get it?
I'm getting Metallica fever!!!!!!!....Feeling like I'm on fire hearing the Four Horsemen on a daily basis 🔥👑👑👑👑🔥...thank you Metallica TV for feeding the fire that burns inside me for my angels.
I was there and I gotta say it sounded as epic live as it sounds on the video and even better than the album. THANK YOU METALLICA FOR THE BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD!!
Sweeeet! When I bought this CD on June 5, 2003 and played it in my car and this song came on I was like “uhhh….ok.” Then a month later I was mosh pitting to them playing this song in Boston, Ma. and the Atlanta, Ga. and I was like “good song I guess.” Now almost 20 years later, seeing this video, dang… it’s perfect. They’re masters of live performances. Still not my favorite song in the set list, but it fits perfectly as a piece of a dynamically mastered performance.
I like St. Anger a lot because the songs and the meanings and the feelings all hit home for me and I can relate to each song on the album, so I have that more personal connection to it.
One day, Metallica's grandchildren can look at performances like this with an open mouth saying "That's grandad!!!?". You guys are clocking on in time but your still know how to put on a real show! I am very privilaged to be able to show this to my 2.5 year old son, thank you.
You know respect to Lars here - he might not have the heavy hitting flair he had years ago - but his timing is great here - he carries the song brilliantly.
This fucking kicks ass!!!! I always loved this song ... and live it is just thunderous!!!! I love how the whole band is tacet when James' guitar riff repeats and then jumps back in .... they are so tight ... thunder of the Gods ... the Heart of Metallica pounds on and on!!!!!
definately one of the best openings for a song i've ever heard...and i listen to everything from jazz to country to rap to hard rock...this is absolutely one of the best songs intros ever....it's just pure energy
Wish they'd keep this song in their sets! ST. ANGER has some great material damnit. YES the garbage can lid snare sucks, its also weird not having solos. But come onnnnn this performance shows its still a killer song they can make great live.
Well St.Anger isnt most popular Album. If you listen to it youll know why. Espacially if you know the great stuff from Metallica (Ride the Lightning, Black Album etc). But the Songs sound amazing Live. Like Frantic right here.
You may complain about St. Anger, but considering what they were going through at the time, it had to be made. James had to get his feelings out. A lot of the lyrics speak to those of us who suffer from depression and other things of that nature. I give them credit for having the balls to reinvent themselves again.
