Alright, here's The New Song from Berlin, June 6th, 2006. The owners of the original channel who had the video with 30k+ views closed their channel, so I decided to re-upload it. Enjoy!
I remember when this first came on RU-vid way before dm came out. I thought it was so badass seeing them getting back to their roots after st anger I was so pumped for the album. I remember when it was "the new song" before it ended up becoming end of the line and all nightmare long. I thought this song was and still is badass.
I wish this song could have remained.. it was so good! I realize they dissected it and got two songs out of it, but still.. this one was just pure badassery.
And still left half of the riffs unused. The main riff (1:11), pre-verse riff (1:43), verse riff, and chorus riff are all still unused. To say nothing of The Other New Song.
As a massive Metallica fan, they should've released this along with Suicide and Redemption and My Apocalypse on an EP. I think this track is just better arranged than the parts that it was reused on
When I hear End of the Line's intro, I always anticipate that key change where the New Song riff plays. The End of the Line's riff remains in same key as intro, so you could say it flows better... But to me, it's doesn't feel as satisfying as sliding up into the New Song riff.
@@thefrogking481 You people are amazing. You don't know how music works. You don't know how videos work. But you are the first people in the comment section.
@@dr.loomis4221 yes man. Maybe you watched the shows which I never watched but I was twice on their live shows and it was good, but this sound of the show the best in my opinion
Considering that they just dropped If Darkness Had a Son which is a remake of their “Temptation” idea from St. Anger days, they might actually use this riff too
After Kull Am All they went mixed on their sounds making complex songs. One Being a premier example of that soft and heavy. Being pure thrash hasn't never been thier only sound.
Man there has never been or ever will be a band like Metallica! I'm so happy I am alive to see them. No matter what era the concerts are always amazing!!!! Metallica for life!🤘🤘🤘🔥
@@KalElvis I would say the exact same thing about Megadeth that I said about Metallica. But I am so over comparing them. Rust in Peace is one of the best albums in the history of man kind. So is AJFA. Can't we just appreciate and enjoy?🤘
@@NooDLES411911 there are alot of megadeth fanboys that like to talk shit about Metallica. Its predictable and annoying lol. I love em both always have.
@@KalElvis both bands are amazing and there have been certain eras and concerts that were epic with Megadeth but overall Metallica is the better live band with the most energy and best live sound overall for the most part.
@@thefrogking481 I was skeptical, but couldn't see clearly in the video and don't care enough to check again. Just thought I'd give him benefit of the doubt.
@@thefrogking481 yeah faking it to an uneven tempo backingtrack. Makes sense. You know that the knees doesnt have to move much to play double bass, that is typical for new players mostly
I remember when I first heard thinking it sounded like St. Anger, but better - more informed by classic Metallica. And as the track unfurled I felt such a joy that they had found their muse again and were seemingly healthier. Then this specific track didn’t end up on Death Magnetic. When I listen to it now I think of it as “Riffs Magnetic,” almost a showcase for all their ideas going into the album more than a cohesive song. Still a cranking track. The double bass work is awesome!
i remember when word of this spread trying to find a good bootleg recording was the main mission on that day 😂 good ol days, kids this days dont realize how easy they have it.
25 лет слушаю это самая лучшая металл группа из всех что существуют во всех странах!!! Дай бог вам здоровья и долголетия,чтобы ещё хотя бы лет 150 нас радовать,а можно и больше!!!!
Thank You really much for Re-Uploading, i was there live in 2006, and live sound was not as good as in this video lol - sad but true ;P hoowever, i enjoy the re-experience very much.
When I heard this initially, I though this was the next album. But also, they went and polished it and Death Magnetic was born. I was hoping for a RAW album with songs like this one. Would of been nice had Metallica did that.
This Version of „The New Song“ is simply amazing! One of the best things, I‘ve ever heard from Metallica! This Riff by James after the Intro is like… I can not describe this, man! Fucking great stuff!!
if i didn't listen to death magnetic before, this would've been the most jam packed metallica i've ever heard. energy changes, tempo changes, groove changes, amazing riffs... but now it just sounds like a medley from a tribute band. not complaining though, it's a lot more fun to listen to than i imagined!
3:45 That heavy bouncing riff makes me wish Metallica wrote down-tuned riffs more often. E Standard is nice for a crisp thrashy sound, but that heavy groove feels so good.
These were SO GOOD...Look I know this is old news, WAY old and we all know what was pieced and what became what for death magnetic but this "version" of this song and that Vulturous song... man I want these ones polished up and released like this! I freaking LOVED these 2 as they were so much! And how about some lyrics help for an old man? Haha 😄
Yea they were quite epic. This was 2 years before dm even came out I remember it well. I was so pumped for a new thrash Metallica album I called it the modern justice when it came out. Even had a white cover and the old logo lol
@@johnjohnson7259 the album has 78 minutes and 12 songs, I'm sure we'll have epically long songs like we're used to and this time with good sound and maybe even better solos, this was just a single like hardwired
one thing this song has that I do think was a good part of St Anger was a bit or rawness, and the lower tuning. I think they could try being a bit heavier and edgier like that st anger esque riff that was after the end of the line riff. That's an awesome riff
