Jason has a strong picking technique, that is also very percussive. In Load and Reload particularly he locks in better with Lars´beats to create a solid pocket for James´riffs. All in all, this is a great song, and very fun to play along.

So true, you ask some people to name the first Metallica song that comes into their head. They response is probably going to be something off of the Black Album. Jason was a huge part of Metallica’s mainstream success.

Jason’s greatest asset to Metallica was his live presence. He wasn’t a very imaginative bassist. He played along with James for the most part. Cliff was a much more imaginative composer.

Same here. In my opinion Jason is the better bassist. A bassists role is to hold it down and make everyone else sound better. Cliff was insane but he very rarely wasn’t insane. Rob and Jason have there moments but for the most part closely follow the guitar and it makes it heavier. In no way am i dissing Cliff, just expressing my point of view
