Exactly, but 1992, 1993, 1994 were also great. 1995 was a big change, but still great. 1996 - another big change, but still pretty good. 1997 nothing like 1991, but still very good. And so on....

I still think 86' (last year with Cliff alive) and then 88'-89' (Justice Tour years) were the best, I like The Black Album and think for almost any other band would be one of their best but for Metallica and all their Greatness it just wasn't nearly as good as their first 4 albums IMO

I saw that. Fucking awesome. Back in May I took my fiance to her first Judas Priest show. It was in Biloxi. Whole show I was headbanging my ass off. Hair flyin everywhere. I'm in the zone and she grabs me and yells "LOOK!" I was on the jumbotron. She said they had me on there for about 5 minutes going nuts. She has it on her phone. She said she didn't tell me sooner because I was into it. I saw it on her phone and everyone else on their phones not doing shit was like "FUCK" LOL. So yeah...fucking kudos to thst lone headbanger.

I remember like 15 yrs ago I was at a bar and there was this rock cover band playing live music. I headbanged my fucking brains out the entire show. Also jumping around and doing some solo power walking. I was having the time of my life. But no one else was doing shit! I think I was the normal one there. Anyway, after the show, I was exhausted, sweaty and smelled like sewer when the drummer came to me and thanked me for doing all that aforementioned stuff. We both laughed and had a drink together. Fun times! You just dont stand at a rock concert!

There was a small window of time after the Black Album was released for a few months in 1991 where James had the same sounding voice from the Justice Tour. In late 1991 it started to get a bit deeper, perhaps from the long shows the guys were doing and the wear and tear on his vocal cords. This Donington Show is clear example of James with the Justice voice. Another example is the 1991 Moscow Monsters of Rock Show.

"are you having a good time?" is THE NUMBER ONE cliche and MOST MORONIC WORDS ever uttered on a stage by any performer. That's why most of them utter this IDIOT cliche: they are not smart. It always kills me when Hetfield goes 100% moron. (I only liked the ARTSY Metallica that smashed cliches, on Master Of Puppets and Ride The LIghtning. I think Cliff was the cliche police in the band.)

Cael McLeish don’t get me wrong, Metallica is my favorite band, but they kinda butchered it at the time, probably because they were playing a bunch of other obscure songs that week too. They need to do that song justice (no pun intended) and play it right. To me preferably, they tune their guitars to how they sounded prior to 1996 and James plays his own solo in TLITD. I’m happy with what we’ll get though

Derek Miller, With all due respects paid to you- I love and respect Metallica madly, but to presume they bring that energy that they did in the late 80’s early 90’s is simply false. Those vocals (as in those days) you will never hear it again..That’s coming from a man that has James Hetfield as his favorite musician (of ANY) genre. Over the top light shows and fireworks help with their presentation today, but from a lifelong fan that was fucking there in those days and last August - it’s a profound difference. Again, I’m not hating on them- I love them..but they are not the level that they once were man.

I'll never understand why Lars would give up that big beautiful bad ass drum set for a more dinky one, if he is too old to play as fast or as well or even is just lazy is on him but still why would you not want to play that awesome set or others like it anymore after just like 15 years of using it
@Nghilifa
@Nghilifa 4 года назад
It was uncomfortable to play. Too many rack toms forced him to put the hi hat wayyy to the left, so he removed some so that he could play with the hi hat in a more conventional position. This happened before the "Shit hits the shed" tour in 94 when they were still playing a set that was similar to the black album tour, but with 1 or 2 new ones from Load/ReLoad in the set as well. That was the last time they played in concert pitch.
