@@red149 Come on man, I'm yet to find a girl who'd react badly to such an innocent flirting. Worst case, they get midly annoyed when they are already taken, but other that that, compliments like this one are a confidence boost even if they're not looking for a relationship. It's just catcalling that girls hate.
@@red149 Compliments and catcalling are two very different things. :D "You look really pretty today" is a good compliment that will get you a thankful smile. Shouting "nice tits!!!" followed by a whistle will get you a disgusted look.
White Rice they were always friends. They just gave Jason shit because he was “the new guy” and he wasn’t cliff. He would always be the new guy no matter how much time went by.
Yeah, I don't think Jason was mistreated for more than a decade because I imagine Jason would've left after 3 years or something. Honestly, I think Echobrain was the real deal.
@@elguitarTom Exactly. Lol Like, how would the person who made this comment know this. No one here knows anyone personally from Metallica, so I don't get why this comment had to be written as if it's 100 percent truth. Its absurd to think otherwise. And why? Cause you read shit on Metallica? Fuck outta here. We don't know if they were friends, or just simply bandmates doing a job.
To be interviewed and the first question being about a dead member of the band influence on current music you were the only bassist being part of... respect to Jason for putting up with that shit. People really have no sensivity.
It wasnt necesary shit. I don know if i am an older guy with more morality but in those times James was funny and rock star to me but now i watch his old attitudes and i can say he was an annoying clown playing to be rude. No respect for the beautiful lady
I mean the drinking days were pretty much the entire first half of their career. There’s a reason they were called alcoholica in the mid 80s. The only reason why it got so bad in the late 90s was because James was finally married, and starting a family, and those two things could never go well together compared to his nonstop work and party type lifestyle he once had in his younger years.
@@smarkmalarkhe had a party type lifestyle?? When? It's not of a thing I would say of gnr but not of Metallica. Maybe bc they're more reserved, but they're still famous so...
That was a trip seeing. i was down there for that interview. I was standing behind the long haired chick with the queen t-shirt on. After the interview James and Jason came out to the main doors of the much music building and signed autographs for everyone there. Very cool guys to their fans.
+Austin Gomez He had very eclectic tastes in music. I seem to recall reading that he was into all sorts of stuff other than metal/hard rock: Simon and Garfunkel, R.E.M., classical music, etc.

Man Hetfield did not look happy when Jason started mentioning jamming and recording stuff with other people...you can see years before it happened why Jason ended up leaving.
see the conversation veering to side projects at around 7 mins and james looks dutifully uncomfortable when jason mentions having fun jamming with others... the beginnings of the end... and who said the host was ugly?? wtf, her smile is stunning
Jason Newsted trying to play the cool rock start persona: "Do you have any interesting questions for us or what?!" Caller: "Yeah. If CLIFF WAS AROUND...." Jason's thoughts: "That didn't go well..."
They get along, at the beginning probably not, but James and Jason get a really good relationship for most of the 90´s, the real deal was like a year or two before Jason left
When came to the band in 1986 then they were douches but in the 90’s they were friends and Jason left because he couldn’t make his own music outside of the band. They became friends in 1987-1988
If you see the Woodstock 99 interview, you can tel there was some sense of friendship or at least partnership between Jason and James. Something happened between 99 and 2000. Maybe jealousy, envy, James addictions and personal issues.
Wow, you can see how nervous Jason is just to talk about jamming and recording on his own projects. Fucking love the music from Metallica during these days but god damn were James and Lars overbearing AF. Musicians need to support each other, talk shit out and keep the soul of the main band solid with mutual respect. They lost so much when they pushed Jason out. They're still and always will be the GOATs of metal. I think though, they could have been even more in the last 20 years. Had those two got their heads out of their asses, off the sauce and coke sooner, the last 2 decades would have been much more like the first 2. Dynamic, revolutionary. It could have mitigated some of the less than special stuff that happened in the early 2000s like Napster/St Anger/Some Kind of Monster/snare and lead guitar deletes. It's like they over-corrected in those early years without their super-fan band member in Jason. Still love them. It is what it is.
I love Metallica but they needed to chill the fuck out. They treated Jason like shit because they were still grieving over cliffs death. Jason had the best vocals of any of the bassists. And they treated him like shit.
Dde are u crazy?cant u see jason and james here and not lars and kirk?james respected jason on stage and backstage they just didnt let him wrote songs cause they wanted a bassist not a song writer.actualy jason treated them like shit and left the band
@@Eris_Norregard Couple of months before this interview Metallica and Guns n Roses had a concert together. James got burned by some special effect, and Metallica couldn't perform, After Kirk, Jason and Lars apologised to the crowd for not being able to perform, Guns n Roses got on stage and Axl got angry and canceled the show because someone was taping it.
@@Eris_Norregard And Dave Mustaineis Megadeths vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and was Metallicas lead guitarist before getting fired and replaced by Kirk. He used to have a big feud with Lars and James.
No matter what challenges thee guys faces I think if you're paying attention it's easy to see how grounded and rooted in decency these guys are, to not mention the role GnR played in the Montreal riot shows that class.
0:52 Rod "the guy with no filter" -> "If cliff was around would you have become less commercial ?" >>>> SAY WHAAAAT hahahah What an incredibly bold guy there ... WOW
The Dave Mustaine question rocked!!! James was a bit shocked and kind of tried to avoid answering it. Though after he stated "the guy was for like what? 8 months on the band?" he forgot to mention "but managed to write most of Kill 'em all and we recorded it with Kirck the very next day Mustaine was gone"
@AgentOfOblivion Mechanix/Four Horseman is for sure NOT a filler. It's easily a top ten Metallica song. And Dave wrote it. Plus Phantom Lord, Ride the lightning? Dave's talent in those early songs can't be overlooked.
