They drank & smoke but they were an intelligent thrash metal band. If you read the lyrics to their songs, you can see that their vocabulary is at a high standard.
I found when I was working for Gar and watching them do interviews that alot of time there was a kind of " what did I say that for " vibe so I learned that in some cituations...less is more ... plus they pretty much covered it all and I was the new guy so I let them do the stuff like this... I liked doing modern drummer and stuff like that 😎

I feel some bands now a days know absolutely nothing. The rawest art form comes from just being yourself and what YOU want to do, rather than trying to satisfy a following, people, or even a label. Great interview.
6:46 1987? didn't know they already had terminology for death-metal, black-metal, gore-metal etc. And also, Dave said "After three records", that means this was recorded at least in 1988, when their third record came out.
Death metal already exists in 87 with bands like Death and Possessed. Black metal also came from Venom's album. I dont know about gore metal tho. Is that an actual genre?
This interview is 100% correct for me because when I heard The Conjuring I had to look up the words sanguinary, conventicle and anathmatise in a dictionary

Its why i love Hetfield hes actually much better spoken, Dave is super down to earth, he was very right i feel most listeners with good Metal bands like Megadeth and Metallica will 100% listen to their lyrics!
Hell Dave was still a drunk he became his very very smart true self during the 90s, he rambles alot here where Dave Ellefson is actually very well spoken, and im glad they dont bag metallica cos metallica never bagged them, except saying theyre a thinking band over metallica being a thrash band, Metallica was way more musical, and Dave bags pentatonic scales like he doesnt use them in every solo, but he also always says he invented his thumb technique when really he got it from Jake E Lee
@@jyejye1077 He didn't get the thumb thing from Jake E Lee. Anyone who plays guitar has tried reaching as far and as many frets as they can. A natural conclusion if you're bright is that you can use your thumb like that. It's such an obvious idea it's not worth attributing to any person. People are going to be figuring this out for as long as humans are alive and have guitars; they'll do it relatively quickly too.

I attended the concert at the time of this interview in Toronto. It was bad, but I didn’t care because Megadeth was my favourite band at the time. They just played the music to Wake Up Dead, The Conjuring, Peace Sells, and Devil’s Island and Dave didn’t sing the lyrics.
The last thing Mustaine said is so true. I don't REALLY like thrash metal or death, core, speed, whatever, but I LOVE Megadeth, I'm such a fan. I can tell you it's a very unique band, doing their own music, like Queen or The Beatles

I've listened to Metallica and it's an awesome band, but hell Megadeth is in my heart now. My brother still listens to it and he's a sworn fan, so we argue from time to time about which band is better, but of course, everyone has it's own taste.
