it still blows my mind that this song clocks in at 11 minutes long - there's no way it feels like 11 minutes, it's quite remarkable how this song has an ability to do that
@@christosiskander9213 there definitely were a few mistakes, but im very happy with it! A great performance for the first time. Also i believe they changed the melody a little bit.
Imagine the Load fans who are still waiting 28 years after the album's release to hear live songs such as Mama Said, The House Jack Built, Cure, Thorn Within, Ronnie... or even a studio like version (and not an acoustic one) of Poor Twisted Me. Imagine the RTL fans who had to wait up to 2012 before hearing live the song Escape. Imagine the AJFA fans who had to wait up till 2011 before hearing live To Live is To Die and up to 2014/2015 before having The Frayed Ends of Sanity played on stage. The wait hasn't been long for 72 Seasons... (even if there are still 3 songs that could potentially never be played live, but I'm quite confident we will hear them all this year)
@@MoreAwsomeMetalyour wrong. It’s like them releasing kill em all and not playing seek and destroy or them releasing AJFA and them not playing one. This is not some obscure song that they purposefully overlook. It’s one of the most popular songs on the album.
@@saraautio5693 Just saying that waiting just for a year to have Metallica song played is absolutely nothing in comparison to other examples. Imagine you in 1988 buying AJFA, and saying to yourself by 1989: "Damn, I hope they'll soon play Frayed Ends of Sanity and To live is to Die, cause those are my favorite songs on this album and I can't wait to hear them live!" 😄 (20 years later you'd still be waiting!)
@@sancamilobad Unless they think this performance wasn't at the level they'd expected during the rehearsal sessions, in which case they'll publish the next live performance of Inamorata
@@MoreAwsomeMetalthey would normally do that but this will be a rarity live, kinda like how they posted the fixxxer performance although James said he wasn’t proud of that performance
@Qeltz Fixxxer vocals are super hard for James, he just can't sing it well enough. Inamorata seems to be much more comfortable for him, so fingers crossed we'll see it more often
@@chriscottrell513 It was probably a teaser intro, but they definitively didn't play the song live (I'll check the live videos on YT this week) or we would all be aware of this (a live debut of a Metallica song in the internet social network era is not something any Metallica fan can ignore!). They often tease some songs by playing it's first verse before swapping to the real song (for instance, in Paris, Trujillo and Ulrich were playing the Outlaw Torn's intro for a minute before the whole band swapped to King Nothing)
This song has a such a black sabbath/Corrosion of Conformity feel too it, an absolute masterpiece cant wait for the metallica to upload this performance.
Absolute Corrosion of Conformity groove cruisin' down Sabbath's path of righteous doom. COC themselves had a big impact on Metallica ,I think. Those heavy, doom grooves that were on the Load era's finest moments.👍
Also, I think there is some Led Zeppelin in there. When the song settles down at 6:10, and Hetfield plays a mellow, woozy riif- its very much like Zeppelin's "No Quarter". That spaced out, moody vibe. Then- James&Kirk's glorious harmonized solo reminds me of Thin Lizzy 'Wild One". 👍
Consisting that the opening chord is how "Paranoid" is played (on a different fret), and the chorus riff contains elements from the same song, the Sabbath influence is evident from the start.
I can’t believe they played this I thought it would be one of those they never played live I’m seeing them in Chicago this year I hope so much that they play it.
It's probably going to claim the You Must Burn spot... looks like they went out of their way to add a couple of shorter songs (Hit The Lights, Breadfan (edit)) to stop the set times blowing out. So it's here to stay I suspect
I love how much swagger this song has, it has such groove. Because Metallica never stood still, they’ve always found new facets to their sound. This song builds on all the groove and swing they developed in the Load era. It’s a fantastic groove. Forty years in and they’re still surprising us with new treasures.
There were 75.000 people but you would think those Germans were at a political meeting. They were so silent, moody, bored and inanimate that I was shocked. Many of them wore a Metallica shirt but were shazaming most of the songs. Germans really know nothing about entertainment, concert culture, or metal vibes. James was really baffled to see thousands of people who seemed to sit or stand like puppets.
I hope they play the entire album in Mexico: 3 songs from 72 Seasons each night. Since they are playing 4 nights in Mexico, they could just play the entire album!
James voice has 100% gotten better with time the whole band just seems so refreshed energized and just happy to be playing! I really feel they are in a new era and a new prime for the band!
Hetfield was struggling a bit on the first lyric verses, but eventually managed to find the correct pitch. The next time they'll play this one live should be a masterpiece performance.
Thats correct, I think as much as he loves the song he didn’t want to screws it, but eventually he forget the lyrics on the verse and some timing on the guitar. But like you said the next performance will be much better
"There are no mistakes, there's just unique moments that happen." I didn't know it, but I needed to hear that. Thank you James and thank you Albert for filming the whole thing.
Been there! It blew my mind so grateful to hear that masterpiece live. Thank you Tallica what a night. Inamorata, breadfan, glover…friday was a blast too as always. Metallica heals the soul at least mine.
i’m sure they will, for two main reasons: 1. They haven’t posted a live video of the song yet (because this was the first play) 2. also my cat was waiting for them to play this song
Perfectly tailored to the age of the band and a song that I believe belongs with Metallica's best..as time goes on I think future gens will see it that way..the MIGHTY METALLICA rolls on
i been soo awaiting for this.when i saw loudwire mentions epic song without seeing what song i knew what it was.looked and found your video.thanks a millions.
In general, 75.000 people at the concert didn't seem to give a fuck about Metallica. They appeared to be seated at a political meeting or at church. Germany always disappoints.
Es war absolut gigantisch. Beide Abende waren super.Am Sonntag hat Metallica nochmal richtig aufgedreht wie in alten Zeiten 🤘🏻😀 Respekt vor dieser großartigen Leistung und Musik. Freue mich schon auf nächste Mal.🎸
I seen them in Detroit last year I was hoping they would add this I really hope when I see them this year they play it I obsessed over it when it dropped and learned it riff for riff so many different riffs
What a terrific recording. If the output was guaranteed to be this good, I wouldn't grudge people their phones at shows. Thanks! Not a fan of a lot of their post AJFA output, but this is one of their best ever.
