and they hate him ? he just fought against napster to protect his music and people hate him. This guy is a great drummer and an example of a good human being ..
It is highly arguable. My personal opinion is that Metallica did nothing wrong, it was their legal rights to do so. But free publicity is better than none, and youtube prove that. They want to protect their profit, but free contents (i.e. piracy) actually have been proven to increase sales. They action led to the death of Napster, Lime, eMule etc as p2p platform but it also bring rises to bittorrent and streaming content. Its all in the past now and even they admit to their mistakes but I think its part of the stuff that molds the internet to become as we know it right now. And while I was one of those that was frickin pissed at them for shutting down original Napster, I am way past that now.
I was against Napster from when I first knew of it. Lars did what I see to this very day the right thing. Metallica should always be able to ask for a fee for people to listen to their songs (babies) like any other artist has a right to do so. Salute to you Lars and Metallica for showing the world you can't get music for free.
I have met all four of them in the meet and greet (St Anger tour). They are as cool and genuine in person as they seem. No rushing, no pretentiousness. Lars, especially, he is the most engaging person ever. Look you in the eye like you are the only person in the world at that moment..listens, cares. And with his corporate memory, you can tell him about any moment in Metallica history and next thing you know, you are chatting for 15 mins, when you thought it was just gonna be a quick hello and autograph.
manguy2000 I know you wrote this a long time ago, but I have to say I agree. I met him, too. You really feel he is present, when you talk to him and he looks you in the eye, as you say. He has always done that, also as a young person, according to one of my friends, who met him a long time ago. I am a proud dane.
Lars is such a good dude! I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I truly believe Lars could single handedly keep every Metallica fan, a fan! He's always so sincere with everyone, and seems to remember every face, and every story he's told by a fan. Good for you Lars! Keep up the good work!
No matter what people say about Lars being a "bad" drummer, you gotta admit that he's the spirit of Metallica and an overall great guy and human being.
So happy for the kid in the RTL shirt. He isnt like crazy nuts fanatic he just loves metallica and it would be hard to not have that kind of emotion when you get a genuine hug from Lars fuckin Ulrich.
@@dannylpr_96 how you doing these days bro? Its awesome you got to meet Lars. I live in a rural area and don't get to see any concerts. My girlfriend left me last year, and I also kicked a 2 year heroin habit, I think I would be suicidal without Metallica's music to get me through it. Life would be pretty shitty without music or animals to keep me company. I hope you're doing well!
@@mc12358 I'm doing great my friend thanks for asking and also for telling me your story. You know, life kicks our asses really hard sometimes but we always have something to fight for, listening this band and make it a lifestyle changed completely my life.. Metallica is the perfect excuse to fight for what you wish even if you fall a billion times, keep fighting and never give up bro! We die hard! ;)
It's soo cool how much Lars loves his fans. And that one guy who cried, Lars really understood how big of a deal it was for the guy. Mad respect for you Lars!
When that guy was crying I was too because I felt it. Lars is literally my hero. He’s the reason I drum. And I defend him all the time. Lars just means the world to me with drumming. If I met it would be an incredible experience for me. Lars you are one of the best metal drummers ever!
Lars explained he couldn't give her the cap because it was the last one he had of that brand and they don't make them anymore ..but it was cool he let her keep the cap on the entire time before he left
I felt I was going to die in the mosh pit, I mean literally, but it was worth it, every single second, Metallica is by far the heaviest live band, it's not always about sounding heavy, it's the way it moves people, the way it makes us feel, truly along with Maiden, the best show we've had in Costa Rica
tttarms1970 not even Children Of Bodom came close to Metallica's mosh pit, the fucked up thing is that the worst part was when they played Fuel, that's my point, it's not about how heavy a band sound, it's about how they make people go insane, who would think Fuel would beat Master Of Puppets, Creeping Death, Hit The Lights
Wow Mr Ulrich! How humble and kind a "bad boy" can be! Very nice! That is what keeps Metallica great throughout the time!!!! Cheers from San José! Come back soon!
Thanks Metallica....Nov 5 ,2016 (meet n greet) best day of my life...it was a pleasure to meet them..(Lars, Kirk 😍, Trujillo)....and the show was AMAZING 😎 Costa Rica Pura Vida 🔵⚪🔴 lml
Lars doesnt deserve the shit he's gotten. He's not the best drummer nor did the whole napster thing help his image alot but damn hes such a cool fuckin dude. Besides without his drumming or his songwriting, a very big and important part of metal wouldnt exist
People are delusional, only context they really got is the Napster incident and when Jason left the band, also during the Some Kind of Monster DVD when everyone in the band or atleast James and Lars was off against each other.
Lars is so damn classy. What a good dude. Fuck all the haters who love to pick on him - don't see any of you drumming for the biggest metal band in the world... Dude was an absolute beast back in the day when he was younger and more limber. Drumming takes a lot out of a person and no one wants to give him credit. I love you Lars!
Carmen Reyes right, Lars Ulrich is cheap, how bout you actually watch the video and realize that’s the last hat with that brand. Then you look up his net worth and delete your comment.
I love you with all my heart, Lars. Metallica became a LEGEND because of your brilliant mind. You took the band to a whole new level with your vision. I'll always respect that.
I can remember being 16 and in 1987 working at the local bowling alley and the DJ always played Kiss and my friends and I bought Master of Puppets and asked him to play it at Rock n bowl on Friday and Saturday night and he refused for weeks because he didn’t like the music .So we stayed kept on him till finally he broke and he played it.I saw them 2 times in concert and watched these guys grow as a band and it’s not and easy task staying together as a band because time gets the best of all of us but I’d say they did GREAT 👍🏻.Cliff would be proud of all you guys and hold your heads up .James, coming from an alcoholic and drug abused family and I’m a 20 year clean recovering alcoholic, you have to tell yourself that “NOTHING CAN CONTROL YOU.” Life is to short and there’s so much to see and do.I myself have my own story but becoming disabled at 41 because of a back injury I can say I’ve had my struggles and kicked the pain killers been 2 years clean and still no alcohol for 20 years .I wish the best for all of you and concerts I can’t do anymore now for 8 years because of my back but I watch you tube and follow you guys but miss the atmosphere of seeing all of you Jam.Take care guys and GODSPEED
Maes como no llorar ? sé imaginan el sentimiento ver a alguien que admiras tanto y además que te abrace como sí fueran super amigos ,en mi caso 18 años de amar esta banda y creo que hubiera llorado también
Ok I'll admit it. Today I told myself how boring the drumming was on the new album (the album is still fantastic) but after watching this I'm sorry Lars. I still love you lol
