Love your guy’s reactions! Fun fact: this song is structured to display the five stages of grief. The beginning of the song when it’s a nice peaceful, acoustic riff that is interrupted by the drums is supposed to signify the suddenness of Cliff’s death. The main riff and the first solo is denial and anger, the interlude into the middle section is bargaining, the middle part is depression and then after that it goes back into the calm acoustic part which is acceptance. Truly masters of their craft!
Megadeth In my darkest hour Reaction Review , 35 Year Anniversary of so far so good so what album ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6iuFmTEmw3k.html
The short poem that James recited was written by Cliff. They included it on "Justice" in tribute to their fallen comrade. This is the first album they recorded without him (1989). Cliff Burton 1962-1986
According to the band, late bassist Cliff Burton wrote a poem that was inspired by TV Christian ministries... That was used for the track as a spoken word piece for 'To live is to die'... Cliff Burton was 24 when he was killed in a tour bus accident in Sweden in the fall of 1986. His sister Connie revealed that they lived w/ their parents while he was in Metallica, and Cliff would wake up every morning and put on Bill Graham Ministries on TV and would be intrigued w/ the "kingdom of salvation"... It was strange because Cliff Burton was not religious, smoked weed, and loved 70's rock music (Black Sabbath, ZZ Top were 2 faves)... James, Lars and Kirk recalled Cliff talking about Bill Graham Ministries and wrote this poem... The instrumental 'Orion' was written in 1985, and Cliff Burton co-wrote it... and there was this section where it goes quiet and he plays this sad melody w/ guitarist Kirk Hammett which sounds like someone saying goodbye... Looking back, it almost seems like Cliff Burton had a premonition that he was not going to live much longer... Metallica dedicated 'To live is to die' to Cliff and his talent. Kirk Hammett said the circumstances of Cliff's death was very unsettling... The night he died, the band was arguing about which bunks on the tour bus they could sleep in... so, they decided to draw cards from a playing deck to make the calls... Kirk said that Cliff drew the Ace of spades and demanded Kirk's bunk... Kirk gave in and slept up front. Late in the night, Kirk was woken up by the bus shaking violently before flipping over and sending everyone flying... With the bus on its side, Kirk got to the emergency hatch and opened it to see Cliff Burton's legs, his body pinned under the bus; Cliff was the only one thrown out the window from his bunk and the bus landed on him, killing him instantly. The bus driver claimed he had hit some black ice in the highway, but James couldn't find any after looking around... the driver likely lost control of the bus after overcorrecting at high speed... James and Kirk were screaming at the driver that night, demanding to know what happened, while a crane turned up to lift the bus and free some people still trapped inside, but Cliff was gone. After being treated for injuries, James, Lars and Kirk w/ their crew were sent to a hotel and they just drank heavily to cope w/ the trauma.
Greetings from Sweden. Cliff died in a bus accident on a tour in Sweden in 1986. The tombstone with his portrait was raised and funded by fans here. Rest in peace
That middle section is my favorite of the Metallica instrumentals. James Hetfield wrote that 2nd guitar solo. Metallica's best songs you guys haven't react to yet in no particular order: 1.Ride the Lightning 2. No Remorse 3. Leper Messiah 4. The Frayed Ends of Sanity 5. Harvester of Sorrow
This song is SICK in every sense of the word. I can never pick a favorite song on Justice bc they're all just so good. This album is another masterpiece.
Hey guys, love your reactions, Cliff died in 1986 in a bus crash. This song is like a collection of his final riffs he wrote. I would love to see you guys react to some live stuff, like "Outlaw Torn" or "Bleeding Me". Keep up the good work guys.
@@destroyerofkooda123 He may have written the title I'm not sure though he's credited to the lyrics i think it's actually from an old prom he liked - could be wrong though! I know for sure the interlude was James's tribute to cliff though
@@deletedhero5579 “when a man lies, he murders some part of the world, these are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives” was the only part that wasn’t Cliff. can’t remember which poem it was from but the rest was Cliff 👍 interlude tho was 100% James you’re right
Please check out "In This River" by Black Label Society live in Paris, specifically the live in Paris version. One of the best guitar solos you'll ever see, and it's completely improvised on the spot. It's a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, Pantera's guitarist who was murdered on stage while performing by a gunman. The guitarist of Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde) was good friends with him.
One of the things I love about watching you guys reactions is watching at least one of you at some point pulling out your phone to research the band or song you are doing. You truly care to know and understand. Love you guys!
I'm so glad y'all did this one. This is my all time favorite Metallica track. I used to come home from school and play this on guitar daily, love this song... Never get tired of it
The last two lines of this song "All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home" were written by Cliff Burton and the last line is also engraved on his headstone too. RIP Cliff 🤘🤘🤘
I love ur Metallica reactions I wait for them every time cuz they remind me of how I reacted when I heard the songs first time too and I love reliving these moments again.
Love your reactions and seeing you all go through the same experience I had with this band over 20 years ago. Some songs to check out are -“Fuel” (if you want something just heavy and fast), -“King Nothing” (good build), -“Harvester of Sorrow” (awesome drum beat)
Congrats on 400k! If i had one suggestion it would be some playlists. Might help some people find more of the similar videos easier. Keep up the great work! Love the chemistry and vibe
Omg thank you for doing this reaction it has been so many years since I've heard the song I got this record from a friend in seventh grade for my 13th birthday awesome
This song.. so i have a vague small memory of when i was REALLY young and my dad used to play alot of guitar, and i remember him playing this and its always had some sort of unique spot in my heart that nothing else had in the same way, it almost makes zero sense to me but when i started playing guitar i always LOVED playing this song, i miss my son and father jam sessions
No matter how many times I hear this song I always tear up because loss is something we all experience and this song plays with the stages of grief in such a beautiful way
It’s great to see you fellas. Appreciate old school Metallica 🤘🏼 those first 4 albums are masterpieces. You should definitely go see them if you get the chance rock on Youngblood ✊🏿
I'll be traveling 4.5 hours from Louisville KY to see them in St. Louis for the 5th time on Nov. 3 & 5th. Well worth the trip. Have already traveled 5hrs to see them in Chicago in 2018, was amazing. You guys have to experience them no matter the travel time, you will not be disappointed.
We miss you Cliff! I saw Metallica twice last weekend from row in the pit. They played Orion! 🤘it took 15 Metallica shows for me to finally see Orion live. 🤘
I listened to this song for years and years and never made the connection about their grief over Cliff's death in this song. When I finally did, the song took on a whole new meaning, and I can't listen to the song without thinking about the people I have loved and cared about who have died, while I moved on.
Drummer for Metallica, Lars Ulrich, has great video of him back in his home country, Denmark, as guest star playing at Telia Parken with Danish rocker greats Volbeat. Worth checking out, so much energy from the Danish fans.
This is not Cliff playing... This is the last song with parts written by Cliff... He died on the Masters of Puppets tour in 86... You still need to listen to the studio version of Orion to really hear the brilliance of Cliff... that and Anesthesia off Kill em all are the best pieces of Cliffs playing...
You see, we can hang together, Metallica fans and rap fans! I love some Wutang and the big ones from 90/2010. But my point is that we have so much in common, I live in another country where we mix everyone mostly at parties, and I have only had positive and exciting conversations. I hope you guys are feeling the respect for each other's music, it's a beautiful thing seeing this happening.
Come on guys. You have listened to enough Metallica by now. You know not to get fooled by a slow start. I've seen the band twice. And on my mothers eyes. God rest her. It's an experience you'll never forget. See them live. Do it. Enjoy all the music. Peace out.
I want you guys to check out Trivium. They are my favorite band and I think you’d enjoy them. Any song is worth listening to because they are all amazing
You guys should watch Icons with Kirk Hammett! He goes into great detail on how the band started. He also tells the story about Cliff's death. Really good interview!!
Cliff died in 1986, this song is the last piece of material he created with the band before his death. . They were on a tour bus driving the backroads of Sweden when the bus wrecked. Cliff was the only one fatally wounded in the wreck
I'm in KCMO. I'm probably within 50 miles of Tech Nine most of the time lol. I don't think Metallica is doing a show here but they do have 2 in a row in St. Louis on this tour. Also, now that my daughter has been born I'm gonna get back to spamming you guys. The Ghost Of You by My Chemical Romance. Make it happen.
I’m telling you fellas’... there is a band called ‘The Warning’! Metallica put their rendition of ‘Enter Sandman’ on their ‘Black List’ album, first up. It is a collaboration with a fellow label-mate. Killer vid!
Great tune, & fellas of the Cartier Family I’m still putting one of Metallica’s most brutal songs on here hoping to see y’all react to it, “SPIT OUT THE BONE” …thanx
