if you can, do another reaction to this song with the studio version!!! its so sick, especially the guitar solo, plus you will be able to understand the lyrics!!!!
Unless you listen to old live Metallica because the first time I seen them and 89 and then and 92 they were amazing night with age comes not being able to hit the notes right and everything else
That guitar Kirk is playing, known as “Greeny”, is one of the most valuable guitars on earth. It’s rumored to be worth $2,000,000. It is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul, the most sought after guitar model, as well as being owned previously by famous guitarists Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Gary Moore of Thin Lizzy, and now Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
Wasn't the neck also broken at one time, and it had to be repaired? For some reason, I remember Kirk talking g about how it sounded better because the neck was broken and then repaired.... Maybe I'm wrong, but it's an awesome sounding and looking guitar for sure.
This song live in Seattle is the definitive version for me. As others have mentioned Metallica in their prime (80s-early 90s) packs a lot more punch than the later stuff.
I'll give your comment traction because I think it's a great idea and I want it to happen :) The Seattle '89 concert is formidable, Metallica at their fiercest and angriest. James virtually roars the entire thing 💢✨
@@drock55551 long hair? What man cares about another man’s hair? And his voice was trash in the 80’s. It’s way better now and they have a better sound and are way tighter. Which shows in the Mexico show
Congrats on graduating! True story. A friend of mine back in 1996 attempted suicide, and was admitted to a mental hospital for 2 weeks. I was unaware about any of it until I got a phone call from the police saying that he was there and being released but he used my name as his contact. I had to verify it, which meant he would be dropped off at my apartment. I had little time to prepare. I made a few calls (to mutual friends) and I said: "How soon can you get here?" I went out and bought a cake. I wrote on it "Welcome Home Sanitarium". The police dropped him off, and when he came inside, I had half a dozen of his friends there, we blasted Welcome Home Sanitarium and gave him the cake. At the place I lived in, I wasn't supposed to have overnight guests announced, arrangements had to be made, it was a pain. So I snuck him in every night and let him stay with me for 4 weeks until he got a job and a stable place to live. He's still alive and to this day says that was one of the best moments of his life.
I've seen Metallica for the first time this year in July in Florence, Italy. I've listened to them for almost 30 years. Cannot even express how special it was. I mean, I was younger than 10 when I discovered them thanks to my older bro (bless him for that). So I cannot take the smile off my face looking at you guys discovering and appreciating the genius that they are.
Congratulations on your Degree!!! Enjoy your Christmas and New Year guys, please be safe! Can't wait for next years video's, you guys are a lot fun to watch.
Thanks!Merry Christmas, we all enjoy seeing you guys, especially with some good Metal music. Congratulations on graduating. Myself, and everyone here, hopes the best for you - you'll make this world a better. So do the rest of you. Maybe when you get back try: Ozzy Osbourne "Over The Mountain," lyric video.
This might be my favorite Metaliica song. Studio version helps you pay more attention to the song but live versions are lit too because of the atmosphere. I'd recommend Master of Puppets 2019 in Manchester for a good performance. One of their best in the last years, they also played in the rain which makes it more epic.
Been watching u guyz from the Beginning when it was just the 3 . Really enjoy watching with u Happy Holidays and CONGRATULATIONS TY 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 and I also would rather listen to the Album Versions that way u can hear it All
Congrats on the graduation Taj. 👏 Go in to do great things. I love this song and yes, it's from the perspective of a mental patient and how they keep them pumped full of drugs and never give them a real chance to recover. You guys gotta check out "And Justice for All" next. Great song. We will miss yall while you gone. I hope you have a great holiday and enjoy the time with your families. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Really love the Metallica reaction guys but truly, first studio version to really hear it all and afterwards perhaps the live version? Much love from the Netherlands!
Another masterpiece from master of Puppets, such an amazing album from first to final track. For Puppets, the studio versions are great because it was Cliff Burtons last album before he died. They found amazing replacement bass players but no one is like Cliff.
I am happy to see that you will be doing studio versions from now on... I love Metallica Live, but when you are hearing a song for the first time, especially when band members have died, you really need to listen to the studio first so you can appreciate the differences in the live performance...
Some metalhead kid in class kicked me down a cassette of this album and said you need to listen to this. This song is what hooked me. I was a freshman sooooo maybe in 1988?
Damn you guys really jammed this in and made time thats crazy haha Welcome Home is a really good song by them and Bullet For My Valentine did a really good version of it as well. Happy Holidays and Congrats on graduating bro
Happy Holidays to every single one of you guys! Congratulations on all of your success and good luck in everything. My favorite reaction guys, rock on. I still hope for some Public Enemy - "Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos" or "Can't Truss It" when y'all get the chance. Best channel on RU-vid.
I know you guys are gonna move on to studio versions on Metallica but there live song versions from 1992 San Diego and Seattle 1989 are worth checking out, even if you guys already heard the studio version of some of the songs those live shows are gold. Just a few requests, definitely check out “Unforgiven” and “Harvester of sorrow” and “One” 1992 live. Thanks guys for the videos!
wish I could hit that like button several more times! I alway enjoy the Cartier Family and Welcome Home. Hell I enjoy all your reactions, songs, politics, videos just everything. Thanks for show us the News worth paying attention to daily. If you ever get to Edmond Ok, dinner on me!
congratulations bro... I wish nothing but success to you and all you guys 💯 I remember going in person to this concert... EPIC I still prefer music on CD for lyrics and clarity
I know it would technically be ya’ll revisiting a song you already did for Metallica but given you guys are feeling Robert Trujillo on bass might I suggest, even if it’s in your own individual time, looking for the live performance they did in 2017 of “Call of Ktulu”. They start the video with Robert doing a bass solo and this live recording also shows just how much “Call of Ktulu” is a bass driven track with a heavy accompaniment. Enjoy the holidays gentlemen and congratulations for graduating!
#1 Pretend you never heard it and go back and listen to the studio version. #2 Never ever do a live version for a first listen. #3 If you're gonna check out live Metallica, go 80's and 90's for sure. Rock on gentlemen. You've only scratched the surface so far. 🤘
This song hits home for me. I've been in places where they treat the patients horribly. And the things that go through your head while you're there...BUT you're more creative at that time sometimes. Wrote my best poetry. Lots of ammunition.
Saw Metallica live in Central park this year, set was all killer no filler. They closed with Master of Puppets and the crowd was so LIT I can't describe it, go see them if you ever can.
Love watching your reactions. Makes me wish I was there jamming out with all of you!! Check out Dyers Eve on the And Justice for all album if you havnt done that one yet. Hope to see a reaction on that one.
You guys need to do a full reaction to Seattle 89. One of the greatest live concerts ever. Maybe just a pick out a few songs from that concert. You gotta see young energy. Unmatched
I love how you guys give each other shit over knowledge of something, or lack thereof, but still have a good time learning. You guys are MILES from where I spent listening to this stuff as a kid. You seem to appreciate it more. And the fact that you can make fun of yourselves, showing self-deprecation, is an awesome thing to behold. The one thing that truly sucks about this video is, they don't give Robert (the bass player) enough visuals. That dude is one of the baddest bass players of all time where metal AND punk AND funk are concerned, respectively. Check out Robert's Bio.
2 of the biggest songs of my life have been Santana feat. Rob Thomas - Smooth and The Killers - Mr. Brightside. Would love for you to react to those. Thanks!
FYI: You mentioned the guitar. Go back and watch another Gary Moore video. It will look familiar! Metallica's Kirk Hammett owns one of the most iconic and revered electric guitars: a 1959 Les Paul Standard that was previously owned by Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green and, subsequently, by his disciple, Irish rocker Gary Moore. Hammett, a fan of both guitarists, purchased the guitar for a reported $2 million
This reminded me of a thing MTV did back in the day called Metallica Icon. They had various artists play live and cover Metallica songs while the band watched. Snoop Dogg was there. Can't recall what song he did. It was brilliant
