Kirk’s playing the slide/wah is one of the greatest sounds I’ve ever heard coming from an electric guitar. It sounds cool and emotional at the same time, as if the guitar is crying.
Hetfield voice: 1981-1993 fucking insane....1994 and 95 not good but insane team performance..1996-1999 fucking good again!!!and great performances...rip real metallica 1981-1999...everything went shit for them when 2000s came....
He still lets that vocal sound slip every so often. It's rare though, sometimes he'll push on some words and the 90's vocal fry comes back, then he goes back to his normal fry he has now. I think he still has the ability but whoever has trained him in the late 2000s must have told him stay well away from it. Doesn't even use it for recording.
@@Jez3134 yes, and depends how rested he is live, voice is not the same every day. Just he cannot produce that constant power in higher range like he could in 20s/30s, but he has great tone, vocal articulation, as always. ....Songs where vocals are in lower range, he gained power (Fight fire with fire, Sanitarium), some new techniques here and there :).
Jason Newsted on bass was the beast, too much time to hear his Bass melodic lines and out on the little backvocals ! I just think Metallica lost a lot with his departure.
@@scaranvostok3637oh he definitely got it back during the first part of the hardwired tour ngl he always fucking kills it after coming out of the studio
The amount of times I've came back to this specific performance of one of my favorite "Metallica" songs (big fan of their covers outside of their personal material) It always felt like it fit more with Metallica but have respect for Seger as well do to my father growing up. Approaching 27 at the time of this comment and have always found an odd comfort in this song/performance. Especially if I'm driving out around the country for work and it's late at night. It always finds its way through my shuffle. Always. Anyways, much love to The Metallica boys 🙏 Nothing but love and respect for each and every one of them.
My God!!!!!! I so wish I could have seen this in person!!!!! The guys are on point and James voice is amazing!!!! The way they bring this song to life is something out of this world!!!!
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha You can listen to the engines moanin' out his one old song Think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wanderin', the way they always do When you're ridin' sixteen hours and there's nothin' much to do And you don't feel much like ridin', you wish the trip was through Here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page So you walk into this restaurant, all strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode (yeah, oh) Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can All the same old cliché's, "is it woman, or is it man" And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make your stand Make your stand Ah, here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page Whoa, hey Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away Every ounce of energy, you try and give away As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play Later in the evenin', as you lie awake in bed With the echoes of the amplifiers, ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said What she said Oh, here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on that stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page Here I go, turn that page Here I go, there I go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I'm a rock and roll god Here I go Here I go Here I go, oh whoa Here I go
96-99 Metallica was primo live performances. I never got to see them then, have seen them twice in the last five years, but thank God for RU-vid archives!
James and Kirk and band at their best! No Tatooes, no particular Macho-show-making, no presentation on stage of permanent conflicts between James and "Mr. Kirk", just best hell of music, guitarre, voice, serious music, everlasting good music! I love it!
Jason didn't up and leave without a reason or warning. His hate towards James started around Load I think when the label would no longer support Jason's side project only because James said he wouldn't support it, because he didn't want him to have a side band. When he did leave, it was after weighing every possible option of being out of a big band or on his own, and at that point, he had enough. I wonder if he heard any St. Anger ideas, and really felt it wasn't worth it. :P Kinda doubt it though.
+Arte05 RE yeah he is great bass player but not fit in metallica.... metallica only looking for one Who play with fingers..... i really dont like hate trujillo but only play covers of metallica.....

I was there. And I was really close to the stage during that concert. I still remember every little detail of that night. The fireworks the LSD trip and many more..
jason was so fucking amazing im really sorry that he's gone. he was adding extra voice to vocals and im not even talking about his bass skils. i love rob though.
@@cheems4301Yes but the Thin Lizzy version is a rock adaptation. It originally didnt have the riff. I suppose Phil did most of the music. The Metallica version is a heavier cover of the Thin Lizzy version.
Man, we all know that Lars has some troubles with tempo, and some other things, but dude, he is one of the best and most agressive drumers. Holy shit man
