It’s even funnier to think the festival was marketed as peace love and music but in reality it was about price gouging, profits with third world country conditions for the attendees. Peace’s sells indeed
The director flipping in the shots of the fires going on in front of the other stage where the Chili Peppers were playing at the end of the song is brilliant.
Marty is ridiculously talented, very underestimated I think. His style is very broad and unique and his picking style is bizarre but so extremely accurate. His solos are not easy to duplicate, even by other talented players.
"What do you mean I've hurt your feelings? I didn't know you had any feelings..." Best fucking lyric I've ever heard. Will save it for the future to use.
Man... I can remember seeing this band in small venues. Like bars and stuff. I saw them playing at a bowling alley in Dallas a couple times too. Don't get me wrong... It was a good size bowling alley. But bands like Slayer,.. Pantera... Megadeth. They would light up those small intimate places, which was the best place to see them. And then everything happened. They said bye bye to Joes Garage and the Bronco Bowl and hit the stadiums. Which was great for the bands, but for me, it was the end of an era. A totally friggen badass era that will never be matched. But an end nonetheless. It got considerably tougher to be able to lean against the stage while Dave is standing right in front of you... Screaming at you. Man it blew me away to see him play those knuckle snapping riffs while he sang his ass off the way he did. Thems were some good times, little fella. But they weren't easy. And it was uphill both ways.
once in a great while, these old dogs still like hittin up the small venues, just gotta pay attention and look for alternate band names, or see if theyre doin a rehearsal :)
When Dave vocal still powerfull. I dont like how they muted the crowd sounds though.. you could clearly see the whole crowd was clapping their hand during the intro but the sound was muted so you cant hear any sound.
Well what do you want them to do, put a mic on everyone in the crowd? When bands record live performances, they just record all the mics/instruments going into the soundboard. It’s no wonder you can’t hear the audience, dude. They didn’t “mute” the crowd. 😑
Came here after the 2021 documentary on Woodstock '99 festival, man what a unique time when Nu Metal, Hip Hop, bubble gum Pop and post grunge reigned the American charts
Megadeth always killed it. Sad to think they were performing with Rob Zombie and Disturbed playing a 2k arena in my area. I got those tickets for free from a radio station in 2011. and I'm glad I stayed for their 40 minute set.
The irony being that Dave is the one who had actually ruined Megadeth by that time, being completely fixated on outperforming Metallica as a poppier act. Marty left because he felt you either go full pop, or full metal - Megadeth was none.
Dulko Rises actually, Marty himself has said that he encouraged Dave experiment with slower tempo ballads and more commercially accessible material as well as the heavier stuff. He was really inspired by X-Japan and the diversity within their music. He left because he wanted to experiment with broader genres, not because of Megadeth’s change.
Man 21 years ago and I have been following Mega since it’s inception. Sorry about ur good friend ....we loose so many...one day we will all be playing that gr8 concert in the ✨ stars.
I remember MTV not giving any attention to Megadeth at woodstock at all, and they were covering woodstock nonstop while it was going on. They were more interested in talking about Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock
not gonna lie, as someone who's struggled mightily with this song it's super vindicating to see marty struggling with chris' absolutely beastly fills and solos on peace sells
