Awesome comparison and tests! Been waiting over a month for my mobula6, but I got the 19kv option

You will be happy with the 19K version with longer flight times. The 25K will only work better for outdoor freestyle and on long tracks. Thanks for the comment John from Chicago

I love that you added the penny to make them equal weight. Would like to see how they do next to each other like that too, b or, just with more mAh... Nice job.

Great testing! Really makes you wonder why do people choose Meteor over the Mobula 6 🤔

Justin Time some people don’t like happy model because they have put out their products out quickly letting the users find the problems and have reliability problems. I have not had any reliability issues with their last two models. You can also get the Meteor but not the Mobula 6 it is out of stock everywhere.

Availability and a DSMX option. (Although having the Meteor available next-day on Amazon doesn't help if you can't get extra 300mAh BT2.0 batteries...)

Awesome. Thank you for going into detail and doing actual testing instead of the generic "yea this is a [otherquad] killer, go buy it using my link in the description, btw my patreon is...."

Eventually the best 65mm whoop would be a crazybee life with the runcam nano, the BT2 connector and the beta motors?

Great review! Curious what headset you were using for that video. I just got a beta 65s and the video range is horrible, but I'm using a extreme low-end headset since new to fpv. Since you've shown a 25mw vtx is capable, I'm curious what your vrx was. Thanks!

I use the SkyZone O30 goggles. Your fist step to getting better FPV range is to make sure your looking out not down. The second step is to update your antennas on your goggles. I use a Bandicoot Menace Patch and an Amway circular antenna. If your goggles have two antennas. If only one use the circular antenna it will do a lot better than the whip antenna that comes with the cheap goggles. I used my EV800 goggles with good antennas for 2 years before switching. One other thing that will help a lot is the BetaFPV Meteor antenna is horizontal which does not work good for range. Push something under it to get it to a 45 degree angle. Watch my video on the BetaFPV 85Pro2 where it increased the range by 35 meters by raising the antenna angle. Thanks for the question, John from Chicago

@@jmoore3854 Thanks so much for the detailed reply. Great info and tips. How would you compare the ev800 with upgraded antenna to the SkyZone O30? I have an ev800d knock-off (Makerfire version). Not sure if I should waste money on new antenna or take a jump to some all-around better goggles. I bought those because it was a $70 investment into something I wasn't sure I would enjoy, but now I really enjoy it. Thanks for any advice on a next step for goggles.

@@bill72pa Glad your liking the hobby. Sometime you will want to make the jump to better goggles. The SkyZones only increase range by a little the main advantage is comfort and clear bright screens. It is nice to go to a club so you can try different ones out. After my ev800 went to fatshark HD3 with rapidfire $550 then bought Amway Commander, lighter and more comfortable $250 as a backup then the SkyZone O30 with great screens $430. The two best now are Skyzone O40 or Fatshark HDO2. Last May I went to the DJI goggles $500 long run that is the way to go. and use your Makerfire for your whoops. I think DJI will be releasing version 2 in a few months. I would wait for spring. The digital is fantastic.

Hi John, nice video and channel. Which suburb are you located in? I'm in the western suburbs. at 3:52 how can you be sure what your moment arm is if the arm is touching the block on the scale at multiple possible points across that couple inches? It could be touching at the far left end of the block (longer arm would measure lower thrust), or at the far right end of the block (short arm will measure higher thrust) or somewhere in between. I worry you're not getting accurate and repeatable results. If your point of contact was a single point, sort of how you did on the next test when you installed the battery, then your test would appear more accurate and repeatable. Though i commend you on your simple see-saw thrust stand idea! IMO the 25000kv is completely a waste of money on KV. Though maybe it's manageable if you install JESC/ 48khz mode. But on my 19000kv version i don't feel any additional thrust above about 70% throttle. But with all that KV most of your energy goes into heat and just takes away flight time, which takes away fun. i found i had some jello in the fpv feed indoors until i found i had a bent prop. after straightening the prop the jello went away. i haven't flown outdoor yet. my camera does have the foam underneath from the factory. I find the ph2.0 connector is much easier to unplug if you cut the 2 nubs off the battery connector. leaving there almost no difference in the bt2.0 connector for this application of low current.

Jrod thanks for the comment. I live in the far north burbs in Waukegan. For my scale I have a mark on each arm equal distance from the center. At time 3:52 the mark on the arm is touch only the far side of the block at the mark when the motor is running. I do get more thrust on the 25kv motors over the 19kv model (94grams vs 74grams). I also get faster times on my outdoor playground track. At camera angle of 60 degrees and full throttle I get 8 seconds laps on 25kv Mobula 6 and on the 19kv Mobula model I got running at full throttle 12.3 seconds. The problem is at most tracks you can not fly full throttle especially inside tracks and I agree the 19kv motors are the way to go except for very long tracks and outside freestyle. John from Chicago
@Jrod_FPV
@Jrod_FPV 4 года назад
@@jmoore3854 good to know about the lap times at full throttle. Sounds like you really do get more power out if the higher kv it's almost like more of a drag race when flying full throttle in circles instead of through Gates because it's all about power and not about steering or control. How long will they fly for at full throttle like that before the battery runs out?
@jmoore3854
@jmoore3854 4 года назад
@@Jrod_FPV the video of me flying at full throttle is at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NNnMILnC-0c.html Your right there is no way to do gates at full throttle I estimate I was flying over 40 mph. As for flight time the voltage would drop below 10 volts in around 30 seconds and the quad would failsafe because of a lack of voltage reaching the RX. You can start flying again for 20 seconds or so with the same battery it will recover after it stops. It was pulling 10 amps most of the flight. Think the BT2 connectors would help a lot at those amps.
@naomarik
@naomarik 4 года назад
Hey John, your amp draw on the hovering M6 looks pretty high. My 25k kv is hovering at 3.6 amps and getting significantly longer flight times. I think it was around 4 amps before flashing to 48khz ESC firmware. I noticed the tune and filtering had a large impact on this.

They are both short with the high KV motors. Would say at lower speed 2:10 for Meteor and 2:20 for Mobula 6.

was the meteor crossfire?
@jmoore3854
@jmoore3854 3 года назад
Both were SPI FrSky receivers. The range was limited by the VTX in both quads so the crossfire would not give you anymore range. The Meteor had a range of 215 meters and the mobula was 260 meters.
