During the award-winning second season of "Meteorite Men," Geoff and Steve made four amazing iron meteorite finds totaling 175 pounds in Sweden's Muonionalusta strewnfield, north of the Arctic Circle. Now, the MM return to the land of the midnight sun and once again go up against Muononionalusta's endless forests, marshes, and relentless mosquitoes, with new and improved meteorite hunting equipment. But will they be able to repeat the successes of the first Arctic expedition in this strangest of meteorite fall sites, where the ancient space rocks have been transported and buried by long-vanished glaciers.
Also in this episode: The famous Ice Hotel at Kiruna, which was a James Bond location, Steve sleeps next to a polar bear, and Geoff gets annoyed at some dirt.

EXCLUSIVE TRIVIA FROM HOST GEOFF NOTKIN
Our first stop on this Arctic Circle episode was the magnificent Ice Hotel at Kiruna, which was the inspiration for the spectacular set in James Bond "Die Another Day."
Very clever and amusing endings for the meteorite bet were filmed (Geoff's referenced "Return of the Jedi") at the Ice Hotel but never used. We actually did find a large buried meteorite in this episode, and it was seemingly abandoned in a massive water-filled dig hole. As a rusty shovel had been left in the excavation pit, we thought it possible that other hunters might return to claim the iron, so we did not disturb it. Maybe we were overly respectful! 😉 The buried mass gave off an enormous signal and was likely in the hundreds of pounds.
We also knew were a second meteorite was buried, but it was sitting under the boundary line of a protected archaeological area, so we did not disturb it. Nobody would have known if we'd gone in and removed it, but we always try to do the right thing when hunting.

Thanks, Geoff! I really appreciate you posting these. My mother and I were rather saddened when your show went off the air. Seeing it again is like having some old friends move back to town. Well done, Sir. Thank you.

Excellent! It was a fantastic experience to spend time in the Arctic Circle in Finland and Sweden. It was actually my third time in the Arctic. Have you seen our Season Two episode at Muonionalust. We did much better with meteorite finds in that one 😉

It surely was! the problem with this expedition was that we'd already been to Muonionalusta during our second season. We were the first hunters into a new area and did very well (four good meteorites found of which the largest was 67 lbs). During the intervening year, other hunters figured out where we'd been (it wasn't difficult since we showed the new logging road) and thoroughly hunted the area we'd "discovered." That's the trouble with putting your adventures on the telly 😉 Thank you for watching!
