Fun fact: when method man was on the road he was missing his girlfriend (now wife) and flew her out to see him. While she was sleeping, he watched her and wrote this song.
This was back in the day when men were not afraid to let a woman know how he felt and we still "held hands" and "go together!" You don't see that anymore.
I like this version better bcuz this beat is better! 👍🏾This beat goes better with his lyrics and her singing; it was just harder! 👊🏾 The remix beat is too soft/subtle for me; I just don’t like that beat. 🤷🏾♀️
@@marliglen: I’ve heard the remix in plenty of cars and on speaker systems (like at block parties or cookouts); and I just don’t like that beat MORE than this one! That’s why they’re called opinions and this is mine. If you prefer the remix, then it’s all good 🙂✌🏾
@@salimwillis1400: Aretha Franklin sang a cover version in 1971. The original version was written by Ashford & Simpson and recorded on Motown by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in 1968.
The original is Marvin Gaye and the woman is Tammi Terrell, an amazing vocalist who tragically died very young as well. You gotta react to Money, Power, Respect by the Lox featuring Lil Kim and DMX. You will not be disappointed I promise.
Omggg yesss she ripped that song. I scared them white ppl at my school when I played it during lunch on my speaker. I’m glad I had my mom show me all these classics.

Tragic that Tammi was so beautiful and talented yet she died so young. She fell for all the wrong fellas and was beaten on too many times. David Ruffin hit that beautiful woman in her head with a motorcycle helmet and James Brown beat on her too. Just shameful.
That was actually the Razor Sharp remix. The big one on radio and in the clubs at the time was actually the Puff Daddy remix. The Razor Sharp version was more of an underground thing.
this is the track that introduce me to Mary J when I was young. High rotation on MTV at this time and we where in the mood with the attitude of Mary : hat cover the eyes, sittin on the roof and a IDGAF vibe. plus a so catchy chorus. Thank you Jack for this remember. great.
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟 ☮️ !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (She did an amazing performance of this song at the 2019 BET Awards... and when Method Man came out onstage to join her... it was EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (Love your reactions!!!)
This was my favorite version; this beat was always harder and grittier than the other one. Some posts are saying this is the remix and the other is the original; and vice versa. I know I remember when I bought my first cassette (yup), the original version only had Method Man on the song! When the video came out, it was THIS version with Mary; and I loved it! 💙😊 But the 90s were all about Puff and he remixed damn near everything that came out! 😁 So there was another version that was pretty much the same, just a different beat and some Biggie samples...it seems to be the version that gets played more and that most fans prefer. It was ok but I prefer this version bcuz it’s grittier, edgier and it fits with the video setup more! 🤷🏾♀️✌🏾
This was actually the remixed version Jack and not knocking Rza, but I think you would've like the original better. Also if you get a chance check out Mary J. and Ludacris's song "Runaway Love". Mary killed the vocals on this track fr.
Man, Jack, I just love you! You're reacting to all of my favorite songs and have such a good taste in music, you're truly an old soul! Keep on doing your thing, much love from Helsinki, Finland!
@@Princess97895: Exactly! I agree with you 100%! I thought I was the only one who preferred this beat over that remix version. This beat hits harder; it goes better with the lyrics and her singing, Imo! 🤷🏾♀️😊
Ayyyyyyy welcome back 🙌🏽❤️ We been missing you out here 😂😂 Speaking of Mary J.Blige, please check out "As" ft George Michael, such a soulful and uplifting song 🙏🏽
This song is originally "all I need" by just method man. The video version is actually called "I'll be there you for/you're all i need to get by (razor sharp mix)". Since the title was so long, vevo just kept the original title "all i need" The song was remixed with MJB and they interpolated the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terell song "you're all i need to get by". There's another remix from puffy/puff daddy/p. Diddy/sean combs, what ever he calls himself, lol
every time i listen to this and he says "i'm realizing that you didn't have to fuck with me but you did, now i'm going all out kid and i got mad love to give" i get all warm inside my heart, somewhere else too. 💀
Marvin Gaye and tammi Terrell if u don't know who tammi Terrell is she was best know by doing songs with marvin Gaye she died on march 16 1970 at age 24 after removing tumor from her brain.
please react to this song this is an old song but a goodie you will not be disappointed. It's a Stephanie Mills song called Comfort of a Man. Her vocals are on point. Her highs and lows and the depths of her voice, you will love it.
All I need is my favorite too. I love ghostface. He my favorite too out the clan but meth is the mj, the star of the group. His drive is impeccable! He looks amazing too. Shit, the entire clan look good!!! 🙌🏾.
Former A+R Drew Dixon put all this together and had a very bright career. She’s the subject of On The Record, a doc outlining Russell Simmon’s [alleged] sexual abuse and rape.
Broooo i discovered your channel today. You really get a lot of all the details for which i love this music and its so cool to see you appreciate all that in the same way! Here are some recommendations: - Nas - Rewind - Big L - Casuslties of a dice game - Gang Starr - Above the clouds
Isn’t this the song that originally was supposed to have Lauryn Hill, but then Mary J ended up getting a big break? I can’t remember the specific details.
Nah. Mary had already established herself since dropping Real Love in '92. The Fugees didn't really blow up til the fall of '95, which is the same year this dropped. With them both being from NY and making in noise at the time I'm sure Mary was his first choice. Lauryn didn't really do any collaborations til she left the Fugees
Welcome back Jack 😊 1:55 The woman is Tammi Terrell who sadly passed away at 24 yrs. On a lighter note, I think Method Man and Mary J did the sample justice 😊 3:22 - 3:28 so true Jack, so true. great reaction
Recommendation: Listen to the legendary James Ingram, he produced songs for Michael Jackson, sang alongside Michael McDonald, and sang for Quincy Jones quite a bit in the 80s and 90s. He had an iconic and soulful voice, I would say for song choice, "One Hundred Ways" or "Yah Mo Be There"
“Softest Place on Earth”, “Tonight”, and “Who Can I Run To”...all by Xscape I’m not a huge fan of theirs but those are my picks. “Who Can I Run To” is a cover version but I think they did a good job with it! 🙂
It was a cold, Autumn afternoon in New York when this video was shot in ‘95. So many memories..good times. The eye-thing was a contact lens that Meth used to rock early in his solo career. Peep his “Bring the Pain” solo debut song/video. NY HIP HOP FOR SURE!!
