They won’t because the game only does really good in America in compared to Japan and the Devs don’t like that so that’s why it takes them this long to make new Metroid games because it’s not us they prioritize it’s the natives they seek to appeal to the most.

My take on an updated Samus moveset: Dash attack: The counter kick (Dread Jab: First hit is Counter (Samus Returns) Second hit is the quick shot Down tilt: Slide counter kick (Dread) Up tilt: Similar to Mii gunner's up air (using wide shot) Down Smash: Diffusion blast (Other M/Dread) Side special: Missiles with the same mechanis, however holding the button allows you to free aim (or shoot ice missiles.) Down Special: Still bomb, however holding it creates the cross bomb. Grab: Grapple beam is still used, however animations are all based on Other M's finishing moves, because those looked bad ass.

@@DotHacker99 couldn't agree with you more. I was very disappointed to boot up the Switch, just to see the Dread was the only Metroid game on the Switch completely. They really should be able to port older games onto their Switch or even the last DS model. Like, people would SERIOUSLY buy these games but they make it unavailable. Which results in people making emulations. If they ever release Prime 4, they should definitely look into adding an edition that either remasters or polishes the last 3 games, and add them to Switch. This is my first metroid game and I freaking love it. I never had a switch until December, mostly played pc and console. The fact that I got this game simply because it was new and I needed to build a library was the best random/unaware buy I ever did. To simply put it I was never a fan of 2d games, they just never clicked with me and mostly because the ones I played weren't good and left a bad impression. I did watch Woods (BeatemUps) and how he mention metroid and excited he was. Thats when my curiosity peeked, but again it was 2D and my curiosity suddenly fell. Originally I was going to pick up zelda breathe of the wild as my second nintendo switch game and while doing that I saw metroid and took it thinking it was 10 bucks off at Walmart. Shock on me, but I still continued the purchase, and that's how my life got turned upside down for the best. Yes the games layout and system is difficult, mostly getting used to the map and how you traverse it (especially not being familiar with 2D games). It is a bit of a mind boogle and I did take a couple of days break from it and then hope on. This mechanic is the only truly difficult thing I see about this game as it doesn't tell you where to go (but there are guides if your truly stuck), yes the boss fights are challenging but I love dark soul games and have played 4 fromsoft games. So the boss challenge was enjoyable and gives you that badass feel and achievement (it also keeps play time longer). Over all I hope Nintendo continues the metroid series as this is definitely a game that will take new players into a hole new fun world. I can't speak for fans of the series as this is my first metroid game, but I can definitely speak as a new comer that I have been absorbed into the metroid universe and hope a new game is under consideration and soon production. So is this worth a buy, Fuck ya! I never regretted my purchase of this game and its definitely on my personal top 10 games. If your worried about the 2D aspect or even the challenge, then don't be. As mentioned there are guides to help you through. I wrote this huge ass paragraph to maybe and hopefully help any new buyers who are considering this game. I say full send that bitch and pick up a copy.

My very first Metroid game was Prime on GC back around when it came out. I was a little kid and it was my first experience with an FPS game and a Metroid game. When I got older, I realized that Metroid’s main titles were the side scroller games and Prime was just a prequel to Samus Returns

I was 8 years old when I got to play Metroid Prime, at the time I thought it was a horror game because of the first boss lol and I didn't have a save card so I had to either leave it on or replay it all over again. Fun memories ☺️

I was 9 when the first Metroid came out on the NES.(I'm now 44) It was the first "game" that I ever bought for myself because I remember seeing it in Nintendo Magazine. Ever since then...I have owned(and still have) all the Metroid games. I even bought a GBA just to play Fusion...to this day I still fire up my GBA to play it.(it is the only game I have for the GBA) I'm now half way through Dread, and I have to say that out of all the Metroid games...this one is closer to the original Metroid then all the others, and that is what I was hoping and waiting for with this installment. I'm SO glad that I'm not disappointed!

My first Metroid games were Metroid Prime: Hunters and Metroid Prime: Pinball for the Nintendo DS. Hunters was particularly awesome. I remember bringing it to school and playing multiplayer with my buddies in the lunchroom at middle school. My next major experience with Metroid was when Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was released for the Wii. The first-person Metroid experience was such a thrill and I cannot wait for the next installment in the Prime series. While I wait, it certainly cannot hurt to perhaps delve into some of the older sidescrollers along with the first two Metroid Prime games for the Gamecube. If their entire library of previous games could be released for the Switch, I'd probably start playing some of them and reliving the nostalgia.

0:25 "And just so you know this footage is spoiler free" Yeah, right. It might not show any story relevant stuff, but it shows an awful lot of gameplay spoilers. At least two bosses and abilities or where to use them. Luckily I've finished the game this morning (and am now spoiler immune), but seeing these things before would have definitely robbed me of the moments of surprise, amazement or theorizing what the mysterious upgrade will be which will help me to open this funky looking door. Labeling this spoiler free does not feel like something everyone would agree. That being said, I fully agree with everything talked about in the video (except for large screen scalability. I only played it on a large screen and it looked fine to me). It is an awesome game and highly recommendable.

I'm quite surprised to see more than a few outlets bemoaning how the game looks on a TV. I don't know if it's just my TV but even at 55 inches it looks good to me, the fact they chose not to use TAA helps a lot to make it look crisp with surprisingly few jaggies. Maybe it varies from TV to TV but on a decent set it looks pretty darn good to me.

Agreed, looks pretty good. I'm not sure if complaints are coming from the "it needs to look exactly like real life" camp or what, but it looks good.

I keep hearing that complaint and I'm super confused. I'm playing on a 65" LG OLED and it is straight up gorgeous

Maybe it's 4k TV's? I still haven't made the switch to 4k and dread looks great on my 40 inch 1080p TV. I remember keeping a 720p TV around because standard def stuff looked much better on it. To me, playing in handheld mode would be a waste.

@@Frank-xo5he I have a 4k 60in and it looks great to me as well. The only part that looked rough was the cutscene with the friendly bird. The outline of the stairs behind them looked pretty bad. That's all I saw though.

Agree. Most of the bossfights are fun to play with. The final boss is quite hard to beat... and I never thought of there is one moment I need to do something to trigger the next action event, and that get me stuck for a while...

First Metroid game for me was the original NeS game. I was too young to give it proper appreciation though. Super Metroid was an obsession, and almost got my SNES taken away. I still have a large Super Metroid banner that I got from a local video rental store. I played through it several times and got some insane time beating it (1:22…. I think. It was a while back!). Now my son is into dread. And he is playing through Prime. We just downloaded the dread demo… oh the memories.

watching this without even owning a switch, but i'd like to play this as i've played many metroid titles in the past. and i love those 2006 graphics - not even being mean, it has a sense of nostalgia to it. life was better in my early 20s :(

First Metroid game was Super Metroid back in like 98, 23 years later and I am so damn happy that hopefully this franchise is about to make a huge comeback! Dread was honestly amazing! It made me want to replay all of the classic games again. I loved all of the stages and the sound and music for all of the stages, the boss fights were all challenging and took a lot of trial and error to figure them out. Over all 10/10 game

My first Metroid would probably be Prime, but if I were talking a traditional Metroid game, my very first would have been Fusion. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and challenges that it threw at me time and again and the story was top notch, although it did seem a little railroaded. I've played all the others since then and grew to love the series overall. Dread actually may have to be my favorite. It takes everything that I loved about Fusion and the older games and it merges them together in a the modern style established in Samus Returns that I didn't exactly love at first, but I grew to adore how they expanded on stuff like the parry system, where you can move as you counter. It feels like such a natural extension to gameplay and I honestly feel like I wouldn't be able to go back (although I absolutely would, this is Metroid after all). Also, the challenge actually feels like it really fits for a Metroid game too. I've always felt the same challenge spikes going into the earlier games, Fusion and Super included. The only Metroid game where I felt the challenge may have been sup-par may have been Zero Mission up to the Mother Brain end boss at Tourian.
