To be fair, encounters with SA-X are effectively either cutscenes or chase scenes, and Zero Mission is a remake they might not have played.

Fusion didnt do stealth. It had forced escape sequences. Zero mission had stealth at the end but it was also different because that was just one long stealth section at the very end. This has them spread throughout so its new for the series.

I swear these people who review these things, are not fans of the series or genres. I guess they would think Sax in fusion was useless too. Desipite it being a signature and amazing part of that game. The tension of encountering something you cannot defeat is not a bad addition where otherwise samus just runs over everthing else except bosses.

I was 25 when I got it in 86. I had Arari in high-school, but wasn't into it. When I popped Metroid in the NES, it was the 2nd game I played on the system. The first being Kid Icarus. I was a kid again. I played Metroid for 3 weeks before I was able to finish it. Damn those were good times. Can't wait for Friday for this old ass gamer to get his Metroid on.

Man, welcome to the series. It's beautiful, and You might be young I suppose, but trust me, Metroid was one of Nintendo's stop IP's, among Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy. Back in the day on Nes/SNES, this was amazing. You won't be disappointed.

I’m pretty certain that is literally one of the tutorial moments that explicitly tells you this mechanic. The entire screen freezes and a button prompt appears for the first EMMI and explains what is happening.

There are some gnarly shinespark puzzles but yeah they’ve never revisited those niche mechanics. But if I had to choose between that stuff and the new moves, I’d gladly go with the new stuff, it feels amazing.

Absolutely beast of a game. Quite disappointed with the 8/10 here as it feels low, and I disagree with most if not all of the complaints of the reviewer. BUY THIS GAME.

For those interested, this review has some *MINOR* spoilers, such as one particular boss, and a weapon upgrade or two. To be fair, however, just about everything shown in this review was covered in most of the trailers anyway, so if you've watched those, then this is pretty safe. If you haven't seen anything other than the reveal trailer, then why are you even bothering looking up Metroid Dread content if you don't want to be spoiled? If you've been so patient to ensure you don't get anything ruined, you're likely going to just buy the game anyway.
