I can’t believe this has really been the only attempt at expanded world building in Metroid. Those Red ant type guys? That cyber-pirate guy driving around in that city?? Who lives there?
If you ask me there needs to be a sub series set in the same universe staring another bounty hunter (like a male one preferably for example) because that would be interesting.
nah I wouldn't want to John Wick or Hotline Miami it and over-explain an intentionally vague setting a lot of intrigue about the universe is how little we know
@@massivive John Wick i agree with, hotline miami not so much, as there is a lot of good stuff in hotline 2's story that's not just expanding worldbuilding. almost everything and everyone in that game is all commentary on unnecessary sequels and the reasons people want a sequel when it isn't necessary, and all ending with a nuke to wipe it all away for good to kind of put the cherry on top that "yeah this didn't need to happen". it's kind of just a big critique of the people who revolve around a piece of media that stands strong enough on its own without a sequel. i think for that it deserves to exist, and that the worldbuilding is all entirely cursory and not important at all.
Most underrated metroid game. You could do online multilayer similar to unreal tournament. And get this. It had built-in VOICE CHAT. Also the online service was free. Things Nintendo still cant do today. Playing this in 2006 was so amazing
I was fun until: 1) Hackers with invincibility 2) 9/10 people kept choosing Combat Hall 3) 4/5 people kept choosing the sniper hunter and made online matches a game of hide and seek with unbeatable hackers. To this day I think virtually every 5 star player cheated, or got INSANELY lucky not being matched with invincible hackers.
Hunters was a pretty freaking solid shooter. Even being limited to the DS the online multiplayer could be a lot of fun. Worked surprisingly well given the tech of the time.
@@Pdudi Remember those clan wars back in the day? It was like playing in an actual tournament because each match had to be won best 2-out-of-3 and it would be some of the top players in the clan going to war with another
Ah, yeah - the old "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection." Hunters was fun online until every other person was a hacker. Plus the facts that after a while almost everyone chose that Combat Hall stage almost every time, or chose that sniper hunter and camped everywhere (forgot its name), pretty much ruined the online experience. You always had to be in the first wave of buyers back then to enjoy online before hackers took over. They even did it to TETRIS DS... How in the hell does anyone fear losing so badly they'll hack Tetris? It was pathetic. I remember being excited to play SSBB online and all anyone wanted to do was have retarded taunt parties. That's obviously not hacking, but it goes to show how disrespectful and petty gamers can be.
@@ScorchtheHawk Yeah, Prime 3 and Federation Force point to him. Wouldn't mind seeing all of them come back, with actual personalities this time. Noxus and Spire seem like they should be allied with Samus, given their benevolent goals. Weavel could be like a replacement Ridley, the leader of the space pirates in the area. Trace and Kanden I can see being wild cards against everyone.
@@VGamingJunkieVT If they bring back muiltiplayer in Prime 4 using Prime 2's PVP as a base, add in more characters, it could work very well on the Switch
Man this makes me wish Hunters got a sequel. The concept of Sammy competeing against other hunters is fun and it actually expands the universe in a interesting way.
Well, in MP3 in the 100% cutscene, Sylux's ship was in it. I consider MP4 a sequel (kinda). Would've loved the 3DS have a proper sequel, but nope. We got shitty Federation Force instead 😔
Fed force was actually good, and did alot to pay homage to the last three games, INCLUDING hunters, I think theres a lore piece about sylux and another about weavil, it does a ton of worldbuilding, even if it gets a bad rap for being "space soccer", its a pretty good team based game. Much better in tune with source material than other M tbh.
It's very Bionicles and very Kamen Rider Ryuki. Both having that "similar but different" vibe to their integral characters making each and every one unique
Another note is that Sylux also appeared in the ending of Federation Force as well, so they do certainly plan on bringing him into the spotlight for a villain role
I would love to see the Kriken Empire return as an antagonist in future Prime games, maybe handling a war between them and the Federation, they are one of the few other "powers" we know of outside of the Feds and Space Pirates. It would also be cool to see Weavil ruling his own faction of pirate remnants trying to rebuild. And many of the other hunters could reappear somehow, I really want more lore for the metroid universe and I think it could be done. To me its not "intriguing" to just have 4 shots of different locations, I don't need everything but I want more
Kriken Empire would low key mop the floor with the federation if Samus doesn't intervene. They are like the Sith or Vong from the Star wars or, Kilngon from the Star Trek universe. They're society is based on violence.
The Kriken Empire being an antagonist faction has _definitely_ been a missed opportunity for a long time. I personally would love it if the game's plot takes place on one of the other hunters' origins too (like Cylosis or Vho)
@@astro837 early in development Each of the hunters was supposed to have a spaceship each. And we were supposed to engage space fights. But it was definitly cut and only Sylux ship remains.
Bro if mp4 ever comes out and further I feel sylux and weavel should come back. Weavel could be a returning enemy every so often constantly modifying himself to one up samus while sylux is busy doing his anti federation stuff. Even a collaboration between the two could be cool. As though a call back or even the appearance of the other hunters at some point could be cool too.
Sylux is almost certainly gonna come back, they confirmed it. He chased samus in his ship at the end of Metroid prime 3, just before the credits rolled - they confirmed it was indeed his ship
@@harrytipper6393 Chances are 100% because like Nerf said, its confirmed that he was the guy at the end of Prime 3 + a "Blue-Green Hacker" (And Sylux is a master hacker) stole a Metroid from the Feds... if people still arguing about its him or not, they really have a lack of common sense!... It wouldnt even make sense, if they would make another villain, if not Sylux...
Might be a test but a fairly successful one at that. Looks really good, and honestly if there's parts that are kinda messy… well the AI was working with a rather compressed 240p video so I'd say it did a pretty darn good job
oh shit i never realised, god i know the og hako trilogy was 99% built on sound libraries but everytime i hear a halo sound elsewhere im still flabbergasted.
@@fredlagg27 oh yeah, the warthog turret sound is in alot of music mixes. I remember that excision uses it alot in their tracks. There was a very specific forerunner door sound from halo 3 that had its sound in the series "snow piercer"(i literally did the leonardo di caprio gif thing when watching it with my mom years back), I think I heard the assault rifle sound randomly sometimes as well (i couldn't tell you where) but usually thats uncompressed and sounds a bit more beefy. I wish i could be a bit more specific but its one of those things that stands out immediately when you hear it, but isn't really noteworthy enough to remember where exactly it was. cant tell you what song or what episode specifically. I think alot of AA games also occasionally have a sound from halo 2 or 3 as well, but i couldn't tell you which ones
This was one of my favourite game when I was a child. For some reason one of the most frequent dream I have when I go to sleep is about me playing a remake of MPH.
@alvesdefreitasstudio1434 nintendo doesn't want our money that badly lol. It's to perfect! Image we get a full remaster of it with updated bounty system. And a revamped multiplayer 😃 Nah its to perfect for nintendo lol. I'm just thankful to see prime 4!
I don't understand why, he is supposed to die along with all the other hunters at the end of this game, which is set chronologically before the events of Prime 2, 3, and 4.
Also, if you think about it, for all my OG PVP players: this was one of the games that came about before the "Hero" Shooter phase that we see with Overwatch, Quake Champions and other games. Each Hunter had their strengths and weaknesses, but with a well placed Imperialist, you could body Samus, or use the morph ball to spam alt-kills, or Sylux's Lockjaw to create a Triangle of Death. Noxus has a Shadow Freeze glitch that would freeze you ANYWHERE on the map provided you were on level positioning with him. Spire was a little low-tier but benefitted from burn-damage. Kanden was my favorite. His Volt Driver was ruthless and he hit hard like a shotgun if you had the right range.
I really hope some of the other Hunters will get fleshed out more in MP4 now that we have confirnation about Sylux. Mybe he could team up with Weavel, since he's a former Space Pirate with a grudge against Samus.
I played this game back in 2006, and I was blown off. Looking back, this game has so much potential. 7 badass hunters with cool different capabilities. I really hope to see them all in Prime 4 and future metroid games. They have the potential to vastly expand the metroid universe and the its gameplay.
This was such a great game even with the awkward controls. I would LOVE to see a HD remaster and/or a sequel for the Switch with dual analogue control. It would be a perfect lead into MP4.
This game is definitely in my top 5 Metroid games. I wish they could remaster/remake it for Switch, considering Prime 4 will have Silux as a main character in the story. Also the online multiplayer was awesome! Way better than Prime 2's multiplayer imo
Hopefully MP4 will add more lore with all these aliens. We get some vague stuff like Sylux stealing a powersuit from the GF but we need to know more about all the other guys and their stuff too. It would be good to perhaps have the enemy faction be one of the other hunters race instead of the Space Pirates again. Maybe send Samus to extract something from a planet both factions are trying to claim etc. Post-Dread Samus is surely far too op so I guess carrying on from MP3's end would make more sense for the next game.
Federation Force might have worked if they changed the generic characters so you can select any of the hunters of this game each with their own set of abilities like in the multiplayer
That 2nd race to appear I like to pretend that they are actually the mudokon from the oddworld series only far more advanced than just having a loincloth
How tf do you make such a badass game WITHOUT A SINGLE PIECE OF DIALECT....not a damn word was spoken in any of the cutscenes or in game and it was still so damn good to play over again
Hello there, former competitive clan PVP player of MPH here. Just gonna say you guys might get a little tired of me by the time I post in the comments, but it's amazing to see this intro in high-res coming from its heyday of 2006. Back before Discord, and during the time of Xbox Live, there weren't major streams of communication between players, so Nsider Forums, GameFAQs, Neoseeker, and Bulletin Boards were the pinnacle way to reach other players, participate in clan/flame wars and so much more. Such a toxic and beautiful game. I miss it.
Me! all these characters have so much potential from the little we know about them. I think weavel should be in prime 4 too as a right hand man for sylux. noxus and spire can help samus just like rundas, ghor and gandrayda from prime 3. 🦧
@@jokaerojim1666Noxus would be the most chill (no pun intended). Spire seems like a sad guy because he's the last living remnant of his species. Kanden and Trace probably would be brutal antagonists that are just bloodtthirsty fiends. And Weavel and Sylux both have their hatred towards Samus. Weavel got sliced in half and Sylux is jealous. If they'd team up against Samus she'd definitely had a challenge. Not to forget Weavel is an Elite Space Pirate and Sylux has Prototype technology stolen from the GF. Man that'd be awesome but let's see what Beyond gives us. I hope we get some Hunters references or easter eggs and Sylux theme.
@@waveburner1254 Kanden and Trace are the hard ones for me to think of how they could fit in prime 4. would you rather have new hunters? or the old ones fleshed out more? 🤔
@@jokaerojim1666 Hard to say. Even with Sylux because they all "died" during the Gorea Cutscene. Going back to their alibi in Hunters, Kanden is a killing machine and a failed experiment so he'd probably would just wreck things. Trace initiately searched for the ultimate weapon to get more power for the Kriken Empire. Hm... Yeah this is complicated.
If they removed boost ball damage or at least changed the window of effectiveness and made m-bombs not insta explode it probably would have balanced it out.
sorry for the late reply, the project (not my own) was cancelled but rewatching the footage I had the arm disappearing is actually in the stock footage lmao
@@theREELdogman if you look realllllllly closely at lowest playback speed, right around 1:38 - 1:40 (like halfway into 1:40) you can actually see the arm is there but the color and sunlight/glare/whatever makes her arm blend into the rock, and it also happens with her front leg slightly too.
Bruh Nintendo should totally make a sequel to this game. I don't really want a remake because the single player just isn't very good, at all but the multiplayer was incredible i loved playing it with my brothers
The Kriken would low key mop the floor with the galactic federation if Samus doesn't intervene. They are like the Sith or Vong from the Star wars or, Kilngon from the Star Trek universe. They're society is based on violence.
