+Galactic Phenomenon it is though, this games menu music is the best I have ever heard and best game music period imo. When you think of a game you played 10 years ago and the first thing that comes to mind is the song on the menu, you know that the game was a masterpiece.
This soundtrack is EXACTLY what Metroid is all about. The deep choir evokes the many long-abandoned and spiritual places of civilizations such as those of the Chozo that Samus finds herself exploring and fighting through. As well as the majestic and grand wonders of nature that are Magmoor Caverns, Skyloft, Phendrana Drifts, Brinstar, etc. The static noise captures the sense of mystery and darkness of deep space in between these civilizations, where those forgotten races have fled to somewhere, and other more sinister races dwell to better themselves. The rest of the electronic instrumentation most obviously brings to mind the sci-fi atmosphere of the series that we know and love. The fast tempo and mix of all these things at once also evokes a strong sense of confidence, fighting spirit, mystique, and adventure that these games are all about.
Ádám Pajor Metroid, the game that's so intense that many cannot even best the menu screen. (I know that even after years of practice it is a long and hard yet rewarding process for me.)
I remember when I first started playing this game so many years ago. When the menu screen came up, this song just hit me like a brick wall and I had to put my controller down and just listen for a while. To this day, very few videogame soundtracks have touched me the same way that Prime did.
I honestly get goosebumps listening to this. I'm gonna give my personal opinion and say that even now in 2017, this game still stands majestically above all others. In my mind, this game isn't a masterpiece, it's a legend.
@@Jagoryu Yeah, I can't believe this June will be 7 years since Prime 4 was announced...at this point, I'm comfortable saying that the game will come out on the Switch's successor.
Prime was my first Metroid, really had no idea what to expect but then you get the awesome intro & then this awesome music...you know it's gonna be one of those games that sticks with you for the rest of your life.
I would agree that this is the best exclusive game on the GameCube. I say "exclusive" because Resident Evil 4 is better than Metroid Prime and RE4 has been ported to the PS2, Wii, PS4 and plenty of other platforms.
i remember playing this metroid game.....and was immediately blown away by the music on the title screen. and the game didn't very much disappoint either.
I remember beating this game for the first time. I just sat there, not even paying attention to the credits, just letting this song soak in for a good long time. Then I immediate started a new game and went for 100%.
God I remember being an avid metroid fan and buying this at Gamestop four years ago. I was excited beyond belief on the car ride home. I put this minuscule disc in my Gamecube and powered the fucker up. This is the first music we all heard when playing this game and we'll never forget it.
you know i played this game when i was 9 so when i hear this song it reminds me all time i spent playing this game when i was little and what i acomplished
Seriously. Without any indication of gameplay, the amazing background graphics, effects, and awesome, unique music just told me I was in for one of the best games ever.:D
This game is just pure craft, one of the best games I have ever played. I played this when I came out as a kid and remember thinking it was "good". Now I've gone back and played it with my greater gaming knowledge and can truly appreciate it for what it is. The graphics, the sound design, the music, it's all PERFECTLY done. Metroid Prime is still leagues ahead of a lot of games that just came out in terms of sheer polish and game design.
This game is just plain awesome. And this is coming from a 13 year old. I always get stuck, and I havent played for a year or two, but this game still makes me feel nostalgic, even though I never played any of the other games. It is just as much a part of me as my beloved Pokemon series, which I bought black 2 this morning and have already beaten 2 gym leaders in 2 hours. Too many twos! Two OVERLOAD!!!!!2222222222222
Have you ever after encountered a game that didn't make the character making the hard part, but the idea of exiting the menu and continuing the game.. this game and so g are the masterpiece
What a nostalgia trip! I absolutely adored this game! The little details were what made it amazing. Like the ability to scan life forms and learn a bit about them, or the way water would run off Samus' visor when it got wet, or how the barrel of your arm cannon would let off heat waves if you shot it continuously. Amazing game
There was also the possessed Ridley thing from Fusion. Also the fact that most of the events from Other M take place one year after Samus gave her report on the events of Fusion, so it had been quite a long time since she saw Ridley as himself.
A lot of the developers who worked on metroid prime series have left retro studios and found jobs in other studios. Im sure nintendo will commission retro to make another metroid prime like game in the future, but it wont be named metroid prime. It might not even be a metroid game, but im sure retro is eager to make a spiritual successor to the series
I think Super Metroid and Metroid Prime share the number one spot. Metroid Prime was basically re-imagining of Super Metroid, which was basically re-imagining of the original Metroid. Both games took the series to a new level, and both did it flawlessly.
Seriously. You knew you were getting into an amazing experience when you first fired up Metroid Prime, judging by the title screen. And you were right.
I'll drink to that, man. When I was younger, I never thought I'd find myself so immersed in the Prime trilogy or any other game series for that matter. It's well thought out and creatively done, I often found myself trekking through certain areas while thinking about what the place was like before being turned to ruin. Just goes to show that the effort Retro Studios put into their work has wowed and entertained gamers for much time to come.
Metroid prime series needs a Reboot, Metroid prime games are the pinnacle of what could be thee best games of all time, It has an open world feel, great shooting mechanics that doesn't feel out of place and the boss battles along with the soundtrack make the games so enjoyable and epic.... Nintendo needs to either reboot or remake these games, but then again they are probably gonna be worse if they get rebooted..... which is something I don't want.
I'm really glad that they ported the Metroid Prime Trilogy to the Wii-U, cause now I can buy it without paying a huge amount of money to get Metroid Prime on the Gamecube. I'm playing through Metroid Prime right now, absolutely stunning. The graphics look very similar to how they looked when it was originally released on the Gamecube (at least in my opinion) and the gameplay is really tight.
So many great memories surfacing. I remember playing this and Timesplitters FP on Gamecube. Best games ever. Too bad that they're only available on consoles. :'(
Ah...Dolphin Emulator..www.dolphin-emulator.com/....refreshing Although obviously it would be stealing if you don't have the Prime games anymore but download the ISOs anyway. Don't do that.
When I listen to this melody, I feel a strange cold breeze down my back, and I start thinking of the meaning of life and other things. Nintndo makes so good and deep melodies/songs
Lyrics: Ohhh yeah Metroid prime The most hype game of 2009 Don’t even care that ain’t when the game came out Cuz you know what happened That’s when the wii version came out So your wrong but then again we’re playing the GameCube version which was 2002 So I don’t really know who’s right And who is wrong so How about we just play the damn game And we forget that this ever happened
Part of the reason I love this track, is because in-game, the menu fits in perfectly wit the track. Perfectly. That and it also just sounds so friggin sweet.
This is why i adore Retro Studies. To quote Zelda Informer: "Everything Retro touches turns to gold." Seriously; look at how much work they put into the Prime series. All the detailed scan data; all the well-thought out creature designs. Hell, Prime 2 had a scan entry on grass! On freaking GRASS!! I've never seen such in-depth work on a video game in my life; Retro literally brought the Metroid universe to life with the Triology. Nintendo needs to draft them for Metroid Wii U; would be epic!
The day I bought this game, I was awestuck when I heard this music (one of my first gamecube games, therefore the less "MIDI" sounding soundtrack I had heard). I hung out on the main menu for awhile just to listen to the theme. :D Can't wait for the version with the Wii controls comes out. Metroid Prime is one of the games that I deeply regretted selling...
