I love the new running animation when sammus goes after the first form. The way it runs really gives it the real meaning of the galactic bounty hunter going for her prey!
Maybe im just projecting but there’s just something so realistic and believable about how samus approaches her mission on talllon iv. I always got the sense that despite she’s a legendary warrior in a transcendent powerful suit of armor that she still feels fear. I think it’s her body language, face shots, and sounds she makes when she feels pain that give that sense. It’s as if she’s conveying “i know im scared and that i can die, but i need to do this”. It’s that fear that really fleshes out her courageous and brave nature which I absolutely love and respect. The best video-game character of all time.
I also like to think of it as some inexperience on the new world. Like yeah she’s a legendary warrior but there’s still some unease. If you look in Metroid Dread as well especially she’s cautious because of it being a new place, but completely lowers her guard and doesn’t give a shit when she sees Kraid. The body language in some of the Metroid games is awesome.
i dont know why but i'm glad to see more people playing this game. i have played it in game cube years ago and Metroid's games does not been so popular as Mario or Zelda Games, but now with the remaster in switch, more people could enjoy this master piece and probably soon, Metroid Prime 4
If I remember and correct me on this if I am wrong. Metroid prime was originally a normal Metroid that was used by the space pirates as a test subject for their Phazon experiments. After consuming large quantities of Phazon it broke out of its containment and escaped into the impact crater where it continued to consume large amounts of Phazon.
@Goddess Ishtar I believe that the large outer shell of the Metroid prime in the first phase of the boss fight was from the space pirates as well. I think there were logs detailing that the pirates were augmenting metroid prime with advanced weapon systems like the power beam armor used against samus.
@@megarhombus7532 close but not quite. Metroid prime was a lone Metroid that took residence inside a leviathan that crashed into Talon IV causing the impact crater. It consumed all the Phazon it could and mutated into whatever the hell that thing is. The Chozos sealed it inside the impact crater so it couldn’t destroy the planet. The pirates were never successful at releasing it
The beast looks absolutely terrifying. The remaster nailed the atmosphere of this fight, as well as the other darker, more intense sequences of the game like the Phendrana labs and the Phazon Mines. I only wish they'd made the very last fight more interesting (as well as many other boss encounters). The Prime Core literally only has one attack, unless you count yelling at Samus and shitting on the floor to be attacks. It could have been made into more of a challenge.
i still enjoyed both phases equally, i kinda see the core phase is like THE final part of the entire fight and not separate, like a finisher, for the few things it does it still is cool to me, now instead of using all beams you learned, you now need to use all visors you learned, added with the hypermode phazon beam unique to this battle, i think of it as you destroyed its shell, the thing that is supposed to be offensive and protective of its core, now that the core is exposed it can only go on defensive and try to defend itself with what little offense it has, while trying to hide itself and summon help from other metroids, thats just me, all in all, im sure eveyone can agree that the remaster makes both the first phase and the core look so much cooler looking with the new added textures :)
Loved the fact that you took the time to change to the plasma beam before the cutscene to the 2nd phase. That combination with the phazon suit looks sooooo badasss
I just fought this thing for the first time ever and it’s second form kicked my ass. I wasn’t expecting it and my health wasn’t looking great. On top of that, it took me way too long to figure out what I was supposed to do. The cherry on top, I didn’t save after Ridley so now I have to fight him again too..🤦
That's why I always look up a boss just as I get into the arena. I don't usually like to do that, but with certain games I feel like there's a lot of screwing around trying to figure out how to hurt the thing. Case in point, standing in the puddle to hurt Metroid prime. I most certainly would have been screwed if I didn't know that ahead of time. Honestly things like that kind of make me hate the bosses in this game.
@@tetermcYeah standing in the phazon pool seems weird when it’s been established the whole game that standing in phazon damages you. Hypermode/Hyperbeam isn’t even established until you scan the boss and it tells you about it.
It is kind of surreal seeing a realistic Samus. Even in Dread, she has a more anime look to her but here she just straight up looks like a real person, I'm kind of digging it. Personally I'd like if the series went for this more realistic look moving forwards, including the 2D games

@@zaneheaston8254I assure you they had been working on MPR for years, it wasn’t announced like a typical game cus they wanted to try the shadow drop marketing scheme. If the rumors are true then the remaining MP entries will lead up to MP4. There’s not enough time, manpower and probably budget for another big Metroid release like a MP2R.
Absolutely loved this game finally played through it as part of the remastered version. Had trilogy on Wii but never completed it. Only additional quality of life improvement I would have given on top of all tweaks would have been quicker way to get to all the artififacts at the end. Spent circa 3 hours on that and then had little internet search for couple coz still struggled. Otherwise awesome!
Loved it when I played it on gamecube 13 years ago, but I never beat that titular pain in the ass... And I don't think I'm gonna beat it in the remaster either 😅 Not because it's especially hard, (I've beaten all FromSoftware games) but because it's so fucking tedious!!! This thing is a "Prime" example of a "Bullet Sponge". The boss fights in general aren't super memorable. Exploration is where this game shines! After playing so many modern games where you just mindlessly follow quest markers, it's incredibly refreshing to be expected to pay attention to your surroundings and remember places. This level of engagement with the environment is part of what makes Metroid Prime so immersive!
Ohh I got only 7 powerbombs and only 200 missiles ohh well..... I got 88%. On items. Data, wise... 94%. Don't know what, the hell I'm missing there. Don't want to bother with it tough... Well I got 91% in total that's enough for me.
I enjoyed many things about this game and I totally get why people called a masterpiece back in the day, but I feel some things have not aged well. That whole section when you need to get back from when you get the heat visor is horrendous, the Elite Pirate boss fight is just ridiculous and the grapple beam controls like ass... It was a good game, but I don't think I would consider it a masterpiece by today's standards, also... I don't get why they didn't add fast travel at least after a certain point in the game, maybe after you get the Phazon suit? I hope they bring 2 and 3 to the switch before they release Prime 4. This boss just got me fustrated! Keep having to start all over from the save point! Rather watch the boss be defeated on u tube and call it a day on this game!
That was exactly what I did. People are jerking off to this game and calling it the best thing since slice bread, but I believe that's just pure nostalgia speaking. I had no nostalgia at all because I never played it before, went in fresh and I could spot very quickly the BLATANT outdated game mechanics that it has, especially in the final 3 bosses. They're just bullet sponges that take waaaay to long to beat, and most of the time you're not even doing damage to them, it's just you waiting for a damage gap. And the final boss is even worse because you have to deal with those ULTRA-ANNOYING jellyfishes in the previous room, every. single. time. you. die. So yeah ... I just watched this and also called it a day. I love hard bosses like Sekiro, Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, just beat Wo Long, and all ... but man these Prime final bosses are atrocious. I also played Dread before this and had no issues with it at all, loved ALL of it, all the bosses, tons of fun.
@@fpsqt well it's my first time playing this game. And it was amazing. Great game. However yeah the bosses man.... Bullet sponges. The last one was pretty easy tough.
Amazing graphics with the last boss. Also Samus' face is better but I still would prefer her to look more like Ripley or Sarah Connor. (More masculine features)
You mean a boss fight that takes SEVENTEEN MINUTES to beat, with a final phase in which it keeps changing its cloaks all the time making you shuffle your visor like an idiot just to SEE the boss? I had a ton of fun playing this, but the final bosses were SO tedious and annoying. This game is great, but it's plagued with several mechanics that could have been great in 2002, but in 2023 they're just outdated and irritating. For example I had no annoyances at all playing Dread. I believe people are jerking off to this game because of nostalgia, because I came in fresh (never had played it) and I could spot the outdated designs very easily.
I've run through the game about 8 times now. Is anyone else noticing that the controls become unresponsive in the final boss fight? I thought it was just me the first time, but it happens every time. During the first phase (black crab) I press the missile fire button repeatedly with no missile firing. This last about 10 seconds, but feels much longer. Why? But the worst part is the final form - you can't unmorph?! When he drops a pool of phazon, I morph and boost towards the pool, laying a power bomb to take out any fission or hunter 'troids. But then I can't unmorph! I press the unmoprh button a hundred times, and nothing. Sometimes the phazon pool is completely gone before I can unmorph. Never had these issues the 100+ times I ran through the original on gamecube and wii. Until they patch this, Remastered is my least fav version of the game. It's adding several whole minutes to my completion time. EDIT: btw, I'm using motion controls, Y for morph/unmorph, X for missile.
@@Weloz92 possibly, but why would they only have an issue during that one point in the game and nowhere else? I've done 4 or 5 more runs since my last post, and it happens every single time. I've tried all the different control options to see if it helped. It did not. The only other thing left to try is a different set of joycons or a pro controller. It's just so strange that it only happens during one part. It's game ruining, adding whole minutes to my completion time.
@@Weloz92 Once I even died over this glitch. I don't think I've died playing Prime since my very first time playing on gamecube. I can morph during the fight with no issues, but then I can't unmorph at all.
I had the same issue of not being able to get out of the morph ball. Then I realized it was because the enemy was hovering above me, apparently blocking the space needed to unmorph. Dont know what's the issue with the missiles though
Me 2. So i gave up and watched the final boss fight here. Cant keep going through the jumping on platforms and getting sucked by those pesky things only to die at the boss and get sent all the way back🤯
That part of the game is SO stupid. You're about to go fight the final boss. Why the hell would they fill a room full of Metroids that not only infinitely respawn, but don't even drop energy or missiles when you kill them? And to top it off, they're Fission Metroids, one of the most annoying enemies in the entire game, aside from the Chozo ghosts and flying pirates
On hard mode maybe, but I beat him recently & as long as you have 10 Energy Tanks & aren’t in a coma, you are going to beat it, honestly Meta Ridley is more difficult
@@zaneheaston8254 when I did it I didn't realize I had to go backwards to dodge the missiles so I ended up getting fucked many times. Meta ridley was easy, at the end if you find the right angle you can stun him and then damage over and over until he dies.
I still remember the first time I saw this final boss, Metroid Prime, on the original gamecube version when I was 12 years old. Remember thinking to myself “oh…my…god!! What the Hell is that!? 😧”. It was the first Metroid game I ever played. The fearless look in samus’s eyes when she stares down the beast and her unyielding bravery as she charges headfirst into the fight…she knows it’s Go Time and she’s got a fight to win. It made me fall in love with her character and the entire franchise and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. Sidenote, anyone else think Samus looks like Katee Sackhoff at the end when she takes her helmet off?
Metroid Prime the final boss is what the spider from It should have looked like. It starts with the penny-wise head then it morphs into a spider with the deadlights being on top of it's forehead.
I dont have a frame of reference but I felt the second phase was just a bit annoying if you don't know what to do. The first phase can be rough if you let the projectiles build up
The normal difficulty of Prime Trilogy is easier than Gamecube's normal difficulty and the remaster is definitely inline with the Gamecube's difficulty. The Wii's hard mode is the equivalent to the Gamecube's normal mode. For me, it might be because of the control scheme, but hardly a difference. As much as I love dual asymmetrical analogue sticks, some of the other control setup was a bit wonky, but is to be expected when porting it from the GC/Wii version. I switch my beam/visor control imput to switch beams faster when I fight the Omega Pirate and the Metroid Prime first form (and switch back to default beam/visor control scheme for the second Metroid Prime phase).
Just finished it 👍👍👍👍👍 amazing game. A true masterpiece. Can't believe it plays so well and the level design is just one of the best. And soundtrack is amazing.
