Metroid Prime is a cosmic horror. Something that seems like it came from the depths of space. For me it's demonstration of Phaaze's horror and evil. Just a taste of it.

The reason for it running from Samus at the start is because unlike the other Leviathan Guardians that Samus would later face far in the future had their infected planets guarded by the Space Pirates thus allowing the guardians to mature into the bosses in Prime 3, Metroid Prime had no such luxury as the Chozo's first instinct upon learning of its existence was to lock it down so that it would never see the light of day. Of course the Space Pirates stumbled upon it and it basically gained so much tech from them due to them experimenting on it before retreating to the core of Phazee Meteor in the Impact Crater which the Space Pirates could not get into because of the Chozo's seal over it. Not like it would've mattered as the second they would have stepped into that place they would not be equipped to deal with the intense radiation inside the crater because if they could there would've been at least some instance of the Pirates attempts to breach the crater. But due to this Metroid Prime only had its hive and its ability to produce its countless amounts of infant metroids there was very little in terms of viability for it to use the environment to its advantage thus why it sole relied on the stolen space pirate tech to try and kill Samus only for it to fail and forced it out of its shell and proceed to get showered by its own phazon.

When I played it on gamecube it was super fucking annoying- just there to drain you and nothing more.

The fusion metroids were annoying as heck, but they were part of the experience, and you could instakill them with power bombs or just run past them anyways. I always ran past them. It's not that difficult if you don't fall off the platforms.

Lol I died on my first try on the Metroid Prime core. When I replayed that first room, I just jumped past the metroids and avoided them 😂😂😂

Not a far cry to say that Metroid Prime DID in fact flee maybe because of seeing the Phazon Suit on Samus. Since Phazon is a weakness of itself, that's where the "Flight or Fight" response came in. That and Prime was the Great Poison that lived a long time. Naturally the question is: Who is Prey and Who is Predator..? XD

@@LayneCocaine That's basically what I'm trying to get at. Unlike most creatures that will immediately attack Samus the second they lay eyes on her, the Metroid Prime acts like a cornered animal, rather than an apex predator.

Take note that this was all before Samus went Anakin Skywalker on all the Metroids. Needless to say, she has seen it all

I realized that basically everyone is afraid of Samus in the game. The Space Pirates even call her the Hunter in the logs and when they created Omega Pirate they assess the odds of it beating her.

It's got like this grimacing stare it's incredibly intimidating 1st go around

Earlier, when the Metroid Prime first lays eyes on Samus, it must've known she was a genuine threat because the first thing it does is run away instead of fighting her.

It has an addicting style not many games like that honestly, just goes to show how well Retro did on this game

Not entirely true, as you saw from the scans from the scan visor in Samus's Helmet, Metroid prime was/is a "Phazon producing life form", I highly doubt she was going after it just for sport, she probably knew how much of a danger phazon was and decided to take it down as a precaution not just for her own sake, but also (as you saw in the later prime games) for the well being of others

I just did a play through on Wii Trilogy with music at 0% and now for my 2nd Remastered play through. I find it more immersive, you're much more connected with your surroundings. And easier to notice the hum of upgrades.

@@knux5796 Gravity suit is the best in the series though. Phazon suit is my least favorite, personally. Not because of the concept, but the execution. I felt like the color balance just doesn't quite hit for me. Meanwhile, the Dark Suit from Prime 2 is a similar concept, but executed better.

I couldn't cycle through weapons fast enough on the GameCube controller during the final phase just before the core fight. I gave up after I don't know how many attempts, 20? Finally finished the game on Wii Trilogy, third try, and Remastered. Ready for a second final boss fight in Remastered. Core fight is a piece of cake, if you're stocked up on power bombs to get rid of the annoying Metroids.

Dude same I was curious how they were gonna make prime look and I was not disappointed by the result prime looked amazing back on the gamecube and they just managed to make it look way more badass

Similar story, though I always found both forms of Prime to be cool as hell, to the point where I'd draw them, and I like aliens and whatnot. What bothered me were the space pirates and the Sheegoths. The sheegoths slightly unnerved me in the original, but in this one they're spookier for sure. In general, the improvements in lighting made the shadowy areas more terrifying and gave Prime a bit more of a horror edge to it.

Though blame is totally valid in cases, thinking that “the consumer deserves someone to blame” can lead to scapegoating, which doesn’t solve problems and in fact actually can lead to more problems then when people started out with. Anyways, the real answer is that it’s probably both. There is a lack of quality control that goes into Pokémon games, and it’s obvious to see that when they are pumping out games left and right. However, Metroid Prime’s room structure does make it have to load less at one time then Pokémon does due to its room narrowness, which almost certainly contributes to why Metroid runs better then Pokémon does.

I was the same way with the resident evil franchises but you'd be surprised how therapeutic it is to conquer those scary memories and thoughts and makes you realize it ain't so bad I love the RE series now I recommend this game to anyone curious about it 100%

Resident Evil is pretty cool and I have played it 1 time before during my middle school years. And I don't like how we have low ammo and the characters can't run fast enough to get away from any mutant freak trying to kill them

The music leading up to the final boss fight and then when it shifts to the main soundtrack is always my favorite part I have a save file that I just go back to from time to time just to experience the magic all over again it truly is art personified

I just use the power bomb as soon as they spawn so prime can get the full brunt of it it deserves every last shot lol I ain't wasting it on the smaller scrub metroids, I think it's a better strategy for harder difficulties too but I see where you're coming from

I believe it's kind of like a shield for the radioactive phazon you encounter throughout the game, it'll tear you up pretty bad after you get that suit you become immune to its effects. I always liked that design choice personally

@@smashedkane8711 The game has scared me a few times. Trust me! I just past the incinerator and barbed wasp boss and needed to calm down. First person shooters aren't a thing I do and Prime is placing me at my limit. I'm also stuck and trying to find the other upgrades and boss.😅

Nope. However you can play the Trilogy (Wii) Version of the Game with a modded Emulator Version called Primehack. It adds a bunch of features like kbm Support and FOV settings

Yeah the 2nd part is pretty lack luster tbh but the the 1st part isn't that bad I actually like it alot especially on hard prime can really mess you up

​@@smashedkane8711 indeed, in hard mode i noticed that the bosses get insanely aggresive overtime, Ridley, Omega Pirate, Metroid Prime do this, i started the final boss with all the tanks filled and, i only had 3 by the time i was battling the essence, i swear i was in full tension, in the end i killed it with 25% of my last tank, just think of how nervous i was with the low health beeping.

This game i know it like the palm of my hand, tho ive finished it like 5 times: 1 on gamecube, 2 on wii, and 2 on the Switch, been thinking on goin a 3rd time

100% agree. I try and replay the trilogy each year to keep it fresh. If I'm not playing this game, then I'm listening to the OST or watching playthroughs like this. The fact this series has endured for so long tells me it isn't going away any time soon.

I agree fully with this, all the other bosses ain't really anything tbh they don't give that sense of danger that ridley and prime give off they keep you on your toes and I hope prime 4 lives up to the hype I have faith in retro 🤞

@@smashedkane8711 when you consider the shaky development history of Metroid Prime and the limitations of the hardware and controls it’s nothing short of a miracle that the game came out so well. It’s still incredibly impressive of a game released in 2002.

Agreed. I wish they'd have gone a step further and shot for a full remake, at least when it came to the bosses. The only bosses that really keep me on my toes are Omega Pirate and Prime Exo. Even Ridley's second phase for me drags for a bit and leans on the repetitive side. My hope is that they're doing more interesting things with the gameplay and combat mechanics for Prime 4. Graphically, though, this remaster bodes well.

@RenegadeChain most definitely those 2 bosses are the best in the game for how much they can destroy you if you're not careful especially on hard mode the games beautiful and it's a step up this franchise needed, dread was awesome but was still missing that FPS flair for me personally so I'm hype to see where they go next

You need to play Prime 2 if you haven’t. Aside from the Boost and Spider Guardians, the bosses in that game are far better

The helmet coming off like this is lore accurate. Nintendo changed how her suit works after Prime. It's an energy-to-matter transformation rather than regular armor.
