I remember how much hype surrounding the 1992 season then it all went bust after the injuries. Cone was later dealt away to the Blue Jays at the end of summer, who helped them win the World Series. While we got to see the Mets tank again by not making the playoffs since 1988.
I have the book based on this season. What sucks is had the wild card been in place from '84-'90, the Mets could very well have had at least one more world championship
I love these old games, thanks for uploading. One request, and maybe I'm in the minority. But, can you avoid putting spoilers in the title of the video? I know for a lot of the postseason games we already know the outcome. But, for the random regular season games it's more fun to watch without knowing the outcome. Thanks, Jake.
Mirroring the team, the WWOR Channel 9 chyrons and slates (on-screen graphics) clearly degenerated from 1986 to 1992 on the Mets broadcasts. These graphics are more like '82 than '92. Maybe there was lead in the water in the NY area in the late 80s, short-circuiting the Mets dynasty. BTW if you didn't know, lead in the water (and Christianity) eventually caused the Western Roman Empire to fall in 476 AD.
