Remember when he turned down $325 million for ten years because it wasn't enough, lol 😂? Yup, we should have known then. He asked for the most money, he needs to take on the burden of that in NYC.
Baseball Hut....All good points you made. Perhaps Ronny to replace Lindor? Also, after Sterling, who was one of my favorites, got injured and tried to make a come back, seemed to me that have had lost his speed, and over all performance.
Great content!! Thanks for stating the truth. Who brought the culture to the Mets that the players don’t care after they get a big contract? It seems like a popular thing to do. Some organizations get more respect from their players.
My opinion based on only my own sense is that various players on the team resent Lindor's presence on the team. Before he arrived, Alonso, Smith, Conforto, JD, McNeil and Nimmo were all THE guys on the team. Since then, Smith, Conforto and JD left. Meanwhile, Lindor was acquired and became THE focus of the team. I think the fight between Lindor and McNeil was indicative of this clubhouse issue. Not only did they pay Lindor gobs of money for ten years, but they brought in his buddy for two months. It could've easily caused negative feelings among other teammates, and I think it did. And I think it's been an underlying factor in the Mets' sleepwalking through 2023 and now 2024. When your mind isn't completely focused, when there are resentments against other team members, what we've seen could and I think has happened. Do I blame this all on Lindor? Of course not. Everyone has to share the blame in this. But most of all, the problem is that the Mets are paying Lindor superstar money when he isn't a superstar type player. At his best, he's an excellent player. At his worst, he's an embarrassment, which is what he's been for the majority of this season. I was okay with the trade ONLY because the Mets also acquired Carlos Carrasco. They needed pitching and I thought Carrasco would fit the bill. I didn't realize his physical abilities had been compromised as much as it had been. But I felt from the start, they had taken a big chance by trading not one but both of their shortstops in the deal. Neither of them have the abilities that Lindor does. But the Mets could've chosen to keep one of them (probably Gimenez) and been fine just as long as they filled their TRUE need which was a full time third baseman. Nolan Arenado was also available at the time of the Lindor trade, and he was the one I hoped they would acquire. That trade would've made sense. Getting Lindor did not. I'm a true believer in NOT handing out ten year contracts to pretty much anyone. What we're seeing now from Lindor and will see in even worse terms in a few years until the end of his contract, is proof that handing out contracts that long is a bad idea. I don't care how rich Steve Cohen is, all that money stuck with one player for that many years, is bad for an organization. Can they trade him? I don't think they can without having to pay a load of his salary to the point it will barely make sense to unload him. I agree the Dodgers need a shortstop and he'd do better there. I have a hard time seeing any team wanting him, considering how long that contract is, and the visible difference in his game.
Guardians fan here, how do you feel about Brian roccio and Gabriel Arias for Lindor in a swap back but Mets carry half of the rest of Lindor salary? Get out of half the contract and get back 2 of our top/ MLB ready albeit they have played rough as of late, but its Roccios first call up and hes been highly touted for awhile...i think its a win win on both ends.
finally, the honeymoon is over with this guy... people are realizing this was a huge mistake... The Hut is right... lets cut our losses and move one...
Yep, HE, not Baez, started the thumbs down to the fans. Is he REALLY that bad or is he trying to show the fans who is in control? His financial future is set sooooooo.....🤔 WHY NOT ? 😂
Lindor has a ton of pressure on him, it's not easy having so much expectation placed on him. i don't think he should have been given that big of a contract, he's not the face of a franchise type of player and that contract is just making him not have fun playing. Cohen doesn't know how to sign players.
Man I would love if you did a stream with Talking Mets with Rob, Hut! Feel like you both would vibe on dunkin on the Mets right now with how bad they are.
They'd have to eat 20 million per if they made a trade with the Dodgers. I said when Cohen bought the team that they should've done a complete rebuild then. They've wasted 4 years.
Well, so far they’ve VASTLY improved the farm system and by this year’s trade deadline it could be among the very best. If so, it would be an absolutely huge turnaround. From near the bottom to near the top in only 2 years ? I’d say the front office is genius.
Amen amen amen… I’m a Met fan lives in cle area. He had some nice moments, but was already showing signs of being unclutch. Even though I was OK with the trade at first, I admit… I already had a watchful eye on him for what I had seen in Cleveland already. But when Mr. Cohen gave him that decade long extension before the first pitch he ever took as a met. I was mortified….. I have been on his game since day one in orange and blue, And took a lot of flack from it even from my family…. But the way the HUT put it tonight. I’M JUST GONNA LEAVE IT HERE BECAUSE., the hut laid it down in the exact same way I have been for a few years now
Never wanted him. The main reason was I was okay with Rosario and Gimenez. What was worse, is Mets fans DEMANDING cohen to give him a big contract. I'm a mets fan but Mets fans need to get their head straight and lose the immediate gratification attitude. Mets fans were actually okay with giving Scherzer more money than DeGrom and signing old Verlander. I'm putting fans equally at fault with this mess of a team. This team has no character and no identity.
It happens all the time in baseball: a player who is productive and beloved on a small market team goes to the big market team for the payday, and then is unhappy and less productive.
Not a fan of Mendoza. But our hitting coach? Seems like the fourth best hitter on the opponent’s team would be leading the Mets team. Last year too. Constantly wasting good outings from our pitchers. I’m convinced we’ll get no-hit this year. When they don’t get shut out I’m happy. I can wait for the turnaround. We NEED to get younger. Our veterans can produce a massive haul in trades. Although I would selfishly keep Nimmo.
Dodger fan and nooooo we don’t need him. Miggy Ro can play SS, but we love Mookie there. His bat is not translating, and that contract length for someone who doesn’t walk?. Nah we good.
@@paulfreire7477so he thought. But to go along with the previous comment, I believe there’s a bit of regret not taking less money and staying in Cleveland. They did try to keep him long term. It was his first trip back to Cleveland in 4 years and he looked heartbroken and seemed to realize what he missed in Cleveland.
For a trade. Lindor has to be open for it. Is he? How much is Cohen willing to eat to trade him? Will the Dodgers take him? All this makes me think. Is the Harper trade. That guy is not well love around baseball, but all i can say of him is he's clutch, he shows emotions and does all he can to hit. I agree. I wasn't open to getting rid of the core, but it's rotten to the core with this team
@@garyjoyner1283 lets see how much of a fan is he or a business man. If he trades him this year? He's a fan. if not? He's a business man that will weather a bad investment cuz he has other income
Hut you are right , 5 years this has been together and no championships . We have a rich owner who is willing to spend , which should make this GM very successful on getting winning players who might be high price and being told not to get high price players . With the next crop of players , i see a bright future on winning for once on a consistent basics . .
Pete doesn't want to stay. He has mentally checked out. It raised my senses when other teams want him even though his production has been subpar. What do those teams know? And having his agent whispers in his ear. You can get more money. Pete sees the Mets not offer him a huge contract has soured him to be a met. He says he wants to stay, but he's being diplomatic. He's not happy here
I agree with you if Pete doesn't what be here either trade him what people want be here to play on team that why what to see young kids come up spark the team
