I pretty much agree with you! One other thing I liked better in the manga too was the fact that during Kish's death, he chooses not to kiss Ichigo right before the end. While he's overall creepier in the manga than he is in the anime, I thought that was an important moment, when even before he's about to die, it's then that he decides to completely respect Ichigo's wishes, and doesn't try to steal a kiss from her at the last moment. The anime made it seem more like he died before he could get the kiss, and I just like the dynamic of him choosing not to kiss her much better. The art is also usually a little more on model in the manga as compared to the anime XD
Personally, I like the manga better mostly because I read it when I was in middle school and it was in my school's library (yep they had the whole series and I still have the one with Zakuro on it that I 'borrowed' one day when I was searching through their manga section). So it was a part of my childhood big time, and I only just found out they had an actual Anime Adaptation. I do agree that they develop EVERYTHING more in the anime, but the manga was way more dark and I wish they didn't leave out some things from it in the anime. Which is why when I make my own OC's, I'll do a mix of both the anime and manga (plus a few changes of my own as it'll be an AU). I wish that they also adapted the game and the sequel manga, maybe even having Berry and Ringo appear in the same season to help flesh out Berry more than she was in the manga. Maybe they can have a new villain team as well, and go with the plot in the game where they use endangered animals and turn them into Chimeras? That'd definitely make it a bit more popular, and if they did it nowadays the animation would be a lot better. Just as long as they keep to the manga while taking some stuff from the 1st adaptation.
To be honest, the dome makes a lot more sense apart from the heat thing. In the anime, the aliens' tower or whatever was very exposed. Hell, a USAF A-10 Warthog from a nearby US base could've just done a fly-by and given a good old BRRRRRRRRRT. Problem solved(?)
Also, in some ways, the anime toned down some violence from the manga. For example, I read that when Pai more or less suicide-bombed the area, he actually killed the rest of the team plus Ryou instead of simply KO'ing them. Ichigo defeating Deep Blue was what brought the rest of the team and Ryou back to life alongside the aliens.
+thisissparta789789 Uhh, Pie was protecting the Mew Mews and Ryou in the anime. It was not a suicide bomb thing. They just got KO'ed because the blast coming from Deep Blue was too strong for Pie to hold it off completely. The Mew Mews actually killed him and Tart in the manga and then collapsed due to using too much power (Ryou was off on the sidelines after Deep Blue slashed his arm.). Also, in the manga Aoyama stabbed himself to release the Mew Aqua and save everyone, while it was Ichigo who defeated Deep Blue, with Aoyama's help, in the anime. As I said, there will be a much deeper comparison between the anime and manga in a future, multi-parter blog.
I am really liking the manga so far...The manga made me a Mew Mint hater to a Mew Mint lover...And while the anime may have more backstory on all the mews...I think the characterization in the manga is much better, in the manga the girls seem less like archetypes. And the manga makes me ship Ichigo and Mint. Yeah, I loved the Tokyo Mew Mew anime when I was 17 but now I feel I overpraised it a bit. The animation quality is back and forth and there could've been some better backstory...I mean, we were only vaguely shown that Zakuro had a bad childhood and that was it.
Another big difference is that in the anime there are a lot of hints of Pai feeling something for Retasu, while this is totally absent from the manga, unfortunately :c if you haven't done a video about the OST, would you like to? :3 anyway, your videos are great and it's beautiful that you're so interested in this fandom :)
Hika, I'm a huge fan. Your content is always awesome and I love the way you present information accurately and efficiently. Like you, I grew up with Tokyo Mew Mew and am a huge fan of it. I was wondering if you were into Sailor Moon? Honestly, I never was into it until recently, and I'm sure you'd like it too if you gave it a try! I would love to see you do videos on it, but it's fine if you don't like it. I just think it'd be a series you'd really like, seeing how much you like TMM. Anyhoo, keep up with the awesome content!
+SpunkySabiGaming I'm a huge fan of the show. Unfortunately, the thing keeping me from doing full, detailed Sailor Moon videos is the potential for Toei to give me copyright strikes. I did do a comparison of the first ending song (since I didn't use footage), which I have to redo to correct a couple translation flubs and add the Vietnamese version. +HikaYagami Sorry if you already tried this - I hate stating the obvious without knowing it. But if a video gets taken down, you can always file a dispute against it. Since your content is fair use, you are allowed to use the content and they will most likely remove their claim, should they read the dispute you send. If they don't reply within 30 days, your video automatically goes back up. But I understand if you don't want to take the risk... Would LOVE to see Sailor Moon videos from you! :D
