I had bad mental i admit, but attempted to improve it later on (not as easy as it seems sometimes). I actually didn't feel bad about Paragon 2015 because i got 2nd in Melee (pretty stacked since Leffen Armada and others were also there), 1st in Smash 4 (beating leffen and all of florida by a lot) and 1st in Project M (beating hbox and every other good player in the same mu he beat me in melee strangely despite Fox being worse). But yea I definitely did give up that particular set, but I felt so glad that all my others sets that day were dominant, so I didn't really mind as much as people think then, I felt pretty content overall. (It isn't as easy as it seems to play many characters/games at the same time in my opinion).
Jesus that is actually a huge win 1st in PM, Sm4sh and 2nd in Melee. Good shit I cant play two seperate characters let alone 2 different games back to back.
2018 Evo, the Bayo ditto where the players just held B and started chatting, eventually being told they had to play the game.. I dunno, that one sticks in my mind.
i think the ditto is only as bad as the players make them. 2saint/HBox last summit was fun, but it can get real degenerate really fast if either puff chooses this route.
The effect Jon Bois has had on RU-vid can not be stated enough. You can easily see the shift in all esports and all sports content starting from a couple years ago when it was basically only Jon Bois and summoning salt doing content with that particular flavor. Now it is the standard for anyone covering stories from sports or esports. And I love it. The Jon Bois effect has greatly improved the value of half the channels I watch.
M2K's habit of giving up at 4 stocks to 1 really did kill a lot of the potential hype of certain sets haha. Not commenting on whether it's a bad decision for setplay or mentality, but just as a viewer. This was definitely one of the most anticlimactic major grand finals ever, good retrospective video as always!
I never saw these grand finals before, so imagine how i absolutely lost my shit when i joked to myself "imagine if m2k gave up and picked puff" AND HE GAVE UP AND PICKED PUFF
Worst grands for me goes to Genesis 4 where Armada beat mang0 in like 10 minutes. That matchup is usually super hype but armada just played godlike and mang0 bustered out.
This was my very first Melee event I watched lived, followed up by Apex 2015. I genuinely loved both of these events for showing me how varied Melee could be.
I was there. M2k was late and tired from a flight. I remember walking by and seeing m2k just sleeping on a couch in the hallway. He wasn't mentally there for that match
Man this was a throwback. Great video and glad you told the whole story rather than just the single set out of context. Really happy this video was recommended to me today!
Lima's play was pretty fantastic in that set , iirc , & a few of the interactions were hella clean , & throwing a stock after opponent accidental SD would have been a bro moment if Mang0 had done it , & going on to win from there too
I feel like every melee stats video has a part were they talk about how much this player hates jiggly puff. Ps love the content keep up the great work 👍🏻
Something I was waiting to hear mentioned was that this tournament, held just a week or two before Apex 2015, marked the first time Hungrybox won a tournament with four or more of the Top Six (Gods & Leffen) in attendance. Meanwhile, M2K would have to wait until Smash Summit 6.
Worst Grand Finals of all time is still easily Apex 2012. Armada vs Hbox, Young Link vs Puff, 2 sets, 4 game timeouts, and a duration of an hour. Nothing will ever top that. As for Mew2King vs Hungrybox, everyone should watch their grand finals set at Shuffle V. It's arguably their best set ever.
Just recently watched "The Worst Smash Tournament, Olympus 2015." 3:38 O thought you were legit going to play some Rust Lake "The cube" series OST for a hot second.
M2k is the absolute GOAT of across ALL Smash games. And more content should be made covering that period where he was winning in 3 different games at once imo. Quite the interest feat.
When he said "something even more stupid" after the marth counter pick my dumbass thought he was going roy for cheese. If I ever said that in person I would've ever made it out alive.
Wow, it's always funny to see this set with different point of views, I prefer the Bronol version though, where he actually is a bit more hbox side. I mean, the Winner final was very epic for hbox, and it was one of its first major victories in a long time, but you apparently just didn't want to mention it.
M2K picking Puff wasn't stupid. He has some of the most Puff knowledge in the world, and he could've been a very good Puff if he practiced and liked playing the character. M2K has even said he should've mained Puff instead of Sheik.
Not even the worst grand finals in melee. Why? Because Hbox vs Plup @ EGLX 2018 exists. I'm a Hbox fan, and that GF felt super empty knowing what was going on.
I can understand why people hate on HBox and puff, but I wish people would just accept that at the end of the day at least in casual play/online slippi unranked play that puff is just a character that you gotta figure out how to beat, like any other. I play puff and I gotta figure out how to beat these cracked fox/falco/marth/falcon/shiek/peach/luigi/mario/G&W/ICs and Doc players. When I lose it just makes me wanna play more and learn how to win.
M2K deciding halfway during a set that he just doesn't feel like playing and just getting sad and shit is honestly the most annoying thing about him. He's a good player, but holy fuck, his mental is so insanely bad. How can a 'god' not at least try to properly play out a set?
This grands was fucking hilarious. No way it's the worst. There are easily ones so bad that I've blocked them out of my mind and can't remember them right now
I still belive Hungrybox vs Armada at APEX 2012 is by far the WORST GF of all time, at least this one was funny, apex 2012 gf is the most boring match my eyes has ever seen
It can't be that bad. Zack and Lima still exist, so it can't be. Right? Edit: Yeah, no way this was the worst. Zack and Lima's GFs in EVO are easily the worst in Smash history, if not fighting game history.
@@doomgu544 m2k also played puff a lot in his career, right? also I'm pretty sure that he could beat anyone in a ditto except for hbox and maybe 2saint
I mean, this obviously isn't a good set, but the worst grand finals?? Idk about that, I guess it also depends on what your definition of "worst" is. Pound 4 grand finals were pretty unwatchable imo,
