That's Tex-Mex. America bought the Southwest from Mexico, after they won their independence from Span. If the prominent flavor is cumin, and it's a burrito, with lots of cheese. it's Americab food.

Lol it’s not good quality because it’s not real, authentic Mexican food. Nachos, burritos, quesadillas and rolled tortillas and calling them taquitos instead of Flautas which is the real name and the rest is Americanized Mexican food. You won’t find any of this in Mexico. No Orchata, no Aguas frescas, no Jaritos, no Mexican coke or Squirt and no Sangria. FYI, we don’t sell white rice, we sell brown rice.

If you ever go to mexico, try them there. For like 5 dollars they give you 5 tacos (pretty small but double tortilla). Taquerias from the USA usually exagerate what the taco has (as it is very simplistic). So it does not keep the same flavor. Also. On the michoacan state they have pork tacos. A must try for whoever tries to eat food all over the world (you use the tortilla as scoop)

I want to open an authentic Mexican restaurant in Japan. I have so many recipes handed down from Abuela. Do you think japanese people would eat menudo? Its a soup made with 2 kinds of tripe, hominy, in a lovely thick beef broth, garnished with cilantro, onion, jalapeno, and lime. You eat it with little french breads and its soooo good.
@TokyoFoodieSarah
@TokyoFoodieSarah 2 года назад
Sounds great and I’d personally love to try! Though some Japanese people don’t like tripe (they like it in BBQ style but not sure about any other style)
@yo2trader539
@yo2trader539 Год назад
I'm pretty sure Mexican cuisine will do quite well in Japan both for domestic and expat customers. If you're serious about opening a Mexican restaurant, I would recommend researching geographic location with Mexicans who live or have lived in Japan. You may wish to consider locations with a large expat community or near US military bases. ( "TACO-RICE" was created to satisfy the longing of Mexican food by US military personnel.) Since many Japanese have studied, lived, or traveled to the US more so than Mexico, I fear we're more exposed to fake Mexican or Tex-Mex style dishes. There are a small number of Mexican restaurants in Japan too, but most are an upgraded version of Taco-Bell. One of the challenges anywhere in the world would be to find all the "authentic" ingredients and spices. It's not like you can find fresh Jalapeno peppers in ordinary Japanese supermarkets. (I can only find jarred ones imported from the US shipped by Amazon...). FYI, In Japan we eat "MOTSU" as in MOTSU-NABE (モツ鍋) or MOTSU-NI (モツ煮). "MOTSU" usually refers to internal organs of cows, pigs, and chicken, so I don't think tripe will be any issue. We also commonly eat chicken livers to hearts in YAKITORI. And HORUMON refers to intestines of pigs/cows, so internal organs will never be a problem.
@fianna88
@fianna88 Год назад
@@yo2trader539 hey! Thanks for the reply. I’ve definitely considered the lack of availability when it comes to certain ingredients. Demographic research is also vital. Now that the country has opened up again, I’m beginning to delve more into the nitty gritty logistics. Be well and thanks again.

I wash the beans and let them soak overnight, then I cook them in low heat for a few hours with bay leaves knorr Suiza (chicken or beef) and half an onion, after they're done I add salt and pepper to taste. To answer the title of the video, no this is not authentic Mexican food. That doesn’t mean non-authentic food can’t be tasty! This is the version of Mexican food found in the U.S., though with some twists. The founders had some Brazilian and Asian influences. The signature item of the store is the fish taco for which they took some inspiration from some cheap fish tacos they tasted in Baja California, but they grilled instead of frying the fish. Burritos can be the name of a Northern Mexican food, but that item & the American version are quite different. For non-traditional cuisine, I like fajitas. For traditional cuisine probably tacos, carnitas, or carne asada.

And for the question in the title, no, it's not authentic, it's mostly inspired on tex-mex cuisine, Tex-Mex it's a Mexican-America fusion, lots of the dishes on this cuisine don't even exist in Mexico or looks so different, for example, did you know that a Mexican burrito isn't graped, are just role up. And Mexican cuisine don't use that yellow chess and the authentic Mexican salad is a bowl with cactus (It's not joke). Usually what people use to know as Mexican food is the American version, so technically it's still american food 😂

Wow Wahoo’s looks and feels straight up Southern California. Especially having the skatepark right next to it, this looks exactly like parts of California. Clearly its food is California Mexican food which takes influence from Mariscos’ (Mexican sea food) especially on the Pacific Coast. Its not quite the same as food in Mexico proper and a lot of Southern California food traces its history uniquely to old California rather than the rest of Mexico. As for the burrito sizes, those jaw breakers most Mexicans would consider an abomination. Because its all in the same. A “burro” is a donkey & a burrito means “little donkey”, they are originally just a tortilla warmed on a comal (usually flour) & filled with whatever foodstuffs you have. Meats + rice & or beans is the usual combo. It originated likely from Vaqueros - the original cowboys from Mexico and the American Southwest - cause burritos were an easily packagable food you could put in your saddle bag. Its also said the burritos being wrapped so tightly resembled the blanket rolls that would be carried on their horses and of course donkeys. Most Mexicans aren’t that picky and will still eat California Burritos (as we call those giant things) at restaurants / taco shops. But we do balk at people considering them original burritos.

yo!!! whats up , a real Mexican here ... nachos and burritos are from de USA is what's called TEX-MEX ... its texan dishes with Mexican influence and it really just means they use beans and pico de gallo or guacamole ... Pozole , tamales , chiles rellenos, cochinita pibil and obviously soft tacos are some more traditional Mexican dishes but still popular ... one less popular Mayan dish could be Pok chuc ... also also bottled hot sauce is considered crappy food mainly because making a fresh "salsa" is very easy , so we just use bottled sauces for snacks like potato chips or stuff like that , also tabasco isn't a big thing in Mexico but they love it in the USA. If you'd like to know Mexico in a nutshell , i highly recommend Geography now's (a youtube channel ) Mexico episode . Hope you're doing ok and in send you good wishes

Burritos are not from the US, nor are they Tex-Mex. The burrito originated in Chihuahua, back in the early 1900s and entered the US via California in the 1930s. Likewise, Nachos originated in Coahuila in the 1940s. It was made for American clientele, but it was created in Mexico, by a Mexican.

I glad you’re trying my cultures food and that it’s making it’s way to Japan but it’s not authentic and even the sauces they give aren’t either. Real Mexican food is 100x better with far more flavor it’s simple but complex and sadly the majority of the world doesn’t even know what real Mexican food taste like.
