Something I've noticed about some mexicans is that they judge the food by the amount of spice (even some of their drinks), but a dish being spicy does not necessarily make it better. A lot of Latin American and Caribbean cultures focus on the flavor of the food, (savory, sweet, light, etc.) not how much the food can make you sweat. We like the spicy (some more than others), but it is not the main focus of most dishes. I've had some dishes where all they are is spicy and hot, and have not been able to enjoy the flavor (cause I just wanted to finish it and be done).
@johnnygarcia33133
@johnnygarcia33133 4 года назад
Your some what right, but also Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese foods revolve around the spiciness. The reason why I say somewhat is because the spiciness in our food are flavor enhancers not "the flavor." Like the salsa for the tacos, quesadillas, rice and bean dishes, tortas, cemitas. Now there are dishes the spiciness is actually the flavor. Like think of it as the Indian curry how they have curries that are spicy. In mexican dishes that would un adobo Verde o rojo that you can say the spiciness is the actual flavor
@carlosm.3426
@carlosm.3426 4 года назад
Most mexican dishes are not spicy, they can be spicy once you adjust it by putting salsa on it, our salsas are 100% homemade with the same recipe our indigenous ancestors would make them, not to mention the seasoning, while you Caribbean Latinos season your food from a season bottle bought from Walmart, there is a big difference. Mexican cuisine has rich flavor that dates back to pre-hispanic. We Mexicans just like our food spicy, that is all

@SaphireKancer90
@SaphireKancer90 4 года назад
@@carlosm.3426 Perhaps that's true, yet the ones who represent Mexico prove the opposite. One of their first critiques about other dishes is that there is not enough spice or kick to it (in most cases). And like others have said, I've gone out with groups of people from mexico and they tend to complain that there isn't enough spice, though I've never any that bring their own. It may not be the norm, but it is what is represented.

@@FlyingNazgul-wm1dv corn meal was and still is both of ours original bread. one version of a tamale is rabbit tamales. We have elotes ones We have the one with that green leaf (banaba leaf wasn't it?), known as oxaqueños We have sweet ones, I even had one with cajeta... Like, every single year they do the same comparison without giving out this basic ass info, and just smack talk them...

If your grandma would say something like that, she is hella rude. My grandmother appreciated both types since she understands the cultural significance. Also, our family is mixed, Mexican and Guatemalan. Guatemalan and Salvi tamales are extremely similar if not the same. My preference lies in my mood. Sometimes I feel like eating a Mexican tamale, some times I prefer a Central American tamale. The tamales for deaths is the same for Guatemalans, I think; because, when my grandmother passed away, hijole, we had tamales for daayyyyssss. We even had to freeze some because we would've never finished them.

The tamales are a creation of the Native American Indians of America. Throughout the American continent the tamales have similarities, while at the same time differences. The Mayan people of Guatemala, created, many different kinds of tamales. The Navajos, and Apaches’, also have their own kinds. The Peruvians, also have a number of different delicious varieties. Chile too. Some are consumed occasionally, of for a tasty breakfast treat. Others like in Mexico, are eaten often, and especially during special celebrations. And the Salvadorian tamales are moist, not dry, and delightful.
