Hi Guys, we have enjoyed your videos. Tonight we are at Revuelta Queer House and I showed your video to Max. You should have seen his face. He had the biggest smile as he showed the video to the other staff. Tomorrow we head to Zipolite. Thanks for all the recommendations. John and William

Hello guys!! I love your video. But as a Mexican I must tell you something really important. Referring to U.S. nationals living abroad as "expats" rather than "immigrants" can be problematic and fails to acknowledge important realities. The term "illegal immigrant" is often used to describe people who reside in a country without official authorization, and while this term carries significant stigma and legal implications, it is important to recognize that many U.S. nationals living abroad may also fall into this category. They often live in foreign countries without proper visas or work permits, benefiting from local infrastructure and services without paying taxes or contributing to the local economy. At the end of the day, these individuals are indeed immigrants, as they have left their home country in search of a better life elsewhere. This pursuit of improved living conditions, economic opportunities, or personal experiences is fundamentally the same motivation that drives many other immigrants around the world, including those from Mexico. Mexicans IN MEXICO are particularly politically aware and sensitive to patronizing attitudes that often accompany the term "expat." The implication that US citizens are different from or superior to other immigrants is not only inaccurate but also offensive. Mexicans abhor such double standards and expect a fair acknowledgment of the realities of migration. It is crucial for U.S. nationals, even those with good intentions, to recognize these dynamics if they wish to be accepted and interact meaningfully with Mexicans. Acknowledging that they are immigrants who should respect local laws and contribute fairly to society is a step toward genuine integration and mutual respect. This awareness and humility can foster better relationships and greater acceptance within their host communities. PS. By the way, many Mexicans avoid the word "American", we use the word US citizen. For Mexicans America is a whole continent.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful comments. It’s interesting to me (Trai), as having lived in London, UK for years, I was referred to as an expat no problem and without stigma by locals. Nevertheless, here are definitions for reference: Expat: a person who lives outside their native country often temporarily Immigrant: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country As we do not plan to live in Mexico year round nor permanently, we are currently expats not immigrants. Also, we love Mexico and only highlight how grateful we are to be guests in this amazing country as lawful, tax paying residents. If you take it as negative, that's unfortunate, as our channel name is not meant to be provocative just a simple fact for us. Safe travels.

100% agree man. Just invite Foreigners to respect our culture, traditions and folklore. There are some of them that respond negativetly to these. All turists are meeting a new country and dont have to change only because are disagree.

@TwoGayExpats

Very affordable depending on which neighborhood. Many expats have descended on Roma and Condesa so real estate prices have been increasing quite rapidly but COL still way less than major cities in U.S.

@@TwoGayExpats You must acknowledge you are immigrants, and you shouldn't be ashamed.That "expat" word in Mexico doesn't make any sense. A cultural difference you should be aware of.
@TwoGayExpats
@TwoGayExpats 3 месяца назад
Hi Victor, as we said above, we’re not immigrants. We have no desire to become Mexican citizens, vote, etc. We are guests here in Mexico longer than the average tourist and through legal channels. If we planned to stay forever in Mexico and never return to the U.S. or any other country for that matter, you would be correct. For example, when our ancestors moved to the Americas for a better life, they had no plan to return to Europe. As such, they were indeed immigrants. We plan to move around and be expats in many countries. Legally and with gratitude. 🙏

Lol is right! The amount of ego you must have to make public comments about people you know nothing about! Also, by definition, the two terms ARE different. Definitions for reference: Expat: a person who lives outside their native country often temporarily Immigrant: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country As we do not plan to live in Mexico year round nor permanently, we are currently expats not immigrants. Also, we love Mexico and only highlight how grateful we are to be guests in this amazing country. @TwoGayExpats
@TwoGayExpats 3 месяца назад
@jorgeramirez6060 Our pleasure. Unfortunately, the U.S. isn’t as welcoming as Mexico with respect to foreigners living here either part-time or full-time, so there is a certain stigma with the term expat. We get it. But we genuinely are expats in Mexico. I, Trai, was also an expat when I lived in London, U.K., for two years for a work contract before returning to the States. The term wasn’t as controversial in the U.K. as Mexico. And if we never planned to return to the U.S., we would happily consider ourselves immigrants in Mexico. 🇲🇽 ❤️
