You guys are right it’s impossible to visit all places in CDMX. When I was there I couldn’t visit half of the places I wanted to visit. I spent a whole day just standing and staring at the castle in Chapultepec Park and another whole day at coyoacan and Frida Klalo museum.

I lived there for five years and can recommend it as a place you should visit . Just be careful just to drink from bottles and only drink water that has been boiled and allowed to cool. Be careful what you eat and you will be just fine . The people are very friendly and avoid the areas that are off the tourist areas . Don’t go around looking like a tourist and do your research before arriving to get the very most out of your trip . My first three weeks I travelled all over the country and at the end of it became engaged and been married with two adorable daughters who are now mothers . Life is a marathon, so enjoy it and you will have a treasure trove that will never end .

Thank you for the awesome comment! We ended up getting engaged in Mexico City too, in Chapultepec Park . We are excited to go back to try more food, see more museums, and enjoy it even further. We felt safe for the most part but like when you travel anywhere, we felt it was key to not be wearing expensive jewelry, flashing expensive things, etc. We had no issues.

@@ELECTRIC-DNA Congrats on your engagement . I also ended up on my first trip to be invited to drinks with the ambassador - that kind of sums my luck . One day perhaps I will write a book about how I fell in love and overcame every obstruction to getting a yes. There were also an entire book of poetry that resulted from that trip and three other books with illustrations . I also was fortunate to have my photos exhibited on my return and the rest is history they say . Never say never and be open to challenges and you will have a life so amazing that you will have to write about it for your children if nobody else. Retirement is something I am trying to resist as long as I can and with grandchildren as well, I am kept going at heart, even if the image in the mirror does not match the one in my head lol.

Hi. I am very glad both of you guys enjoyed visiting my hometown. I have noticed that in your video, and other videos posted by people from the US that have visited Mexico City, Chapultepec park is always mentioned as a place that nobody told you guys about. Chapultepec park, and specially Chapultepec castle, was the site of one of the most famous battles during the US invation of Mexico in the XIX century. Many mexican and american soldiers died on that hill on top of which Chapultepec castle was built upon. Considering that in that war the US obtained substantial territory (California, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona) it amazes me that the park is not better known in the US. I hope that we (mexicans and americans) get to know each other better through our common history. Our cultures keep influencing each other through gastronomy, art, language and many other cultural elements. That is the best way we can understand and get to know each other better and become better neighbors and friends. Saludos y, si algún día nos visitan de nuevo, sean muy bienvenidos.
@ELECTRIC-DNA
@ELECTRIC-DNA Год назад
Thanks for watching and for this great comment. We agree that we should definitely get to know each other better. We did get the chance to visit the castle as well and it was quite stunning but we didn’t quite absorb the entire history of the war as you mentioned. We are hoping to head back to Mexico City in the next year or two to learn more.

Hi again. Thanks for your kind reply to my comment. I would like to suggest a place you might like to visit in your next trip to CDMX: El Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones (ex convento de Churubusco). It's a museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the times my country has been invaded. The ex convent (built in the XVI century) was also the site of the battle of Churubusco between the mexican and american armies (bullet holes can still be seen in the wall encyrcling the convent). I havent been there in a long while, but they used to have a bagpipe band called Batallón de San Patricio that would give live performances outside the convent, to honor the group of irish soldiers that defected the US army to fight on the mexican side, that became known by the mexican people as the San Patricios. Once again, thanks for visiting and you are both very welcome to come again. Saludos afectuosos.

@@wanderinglensmedia4892 I love going to Mexico City, last time was last year. For 4 1/2 days I brought $200 in US cash and converted to pesos. I didn't use it all for the food, transportation, theater tickets, museum admissions, and 2 small paintings at a weekend art street market, so I just bought a few souvenirs and some food at the airport before leaving to use up the pesos instead of converting them back into dollars. You can do the city cheap and comfortable, no problem!

RU-vid travelers seem to love Mexico City but all we ever hear in the states is how dangerous it is...where is the disconnect ? Thx !
@ELECTRIC-DNA
@ELECTRIC-DNA 3 года назад
We feel like every city has dangerous areas but some cities get more bad publicity than others. When we told friends and family we were going to Mexico City, 95% of them warned us about how dangerous it is. The other 5% was from people who had been there and loved it. Do your research, be smart about where you stay and how you present yourself (I.e. no flashy jewelry), and I think you’ll be okay most of the time.
