@thegivengo I’m a Guatemalan American from Newark, NJ. The CONCACAF team I support this tournament is Costa Rica, for the representation for the Central American countries like Guatemala. I don’t support USMNT due to coaching, Berhalter isn’t fit to coach this team due to lackluster decision making and player personnel, which will limit their ability for this tournament and 2026 World Cup, if Beehalter is still coach for this. El Tri, boy that’s one whole cluster fuck of its own. One the national team hasn’t been the same after that being murdered by Chile 7-0 back in 2016 Copa America, IMO. We seen some hope in the 2018 World Cup, especially when Mexico defeated defending champions Germany, but just fizzled out in the Round of 2016. Mexico’s identity was lost since then. Coaches came and went and Mexico’s talent as really been impressive. Overall, I’m glad these 2 national teams are in this years Copa America, because they need the feel the competition that CONCACAF lacked for so long. It will help both teams realize on what changes needs to happen before the World Cup in 2026. The same could happen for Costa Rica and all of CONCACAF.
Very good point, as much as we love these teams I would much rather have them fail so the federation makes a drastic decision like finally getting rid of berhalter before the World Cup so we can actually maximize our talent
You lost me when you said you lost against weaker opponents. Venezuela and Ecuador are used to compete at higher level. USA and Mexico talk a big game and they don’t realize they qualify for World Cups because they play in that region.

that guy in the chat that said ecuador played it smart to get the tie is on crack. depending on a tie bc a 1 goal difference in the table gets you through is wild. exact same points except ecuador had 1 more goal differernce. they played to win, they didnt try to end as a tie. it wasnt their choice. thats all they could do, defend. they realized that 25 left on the clock they couldnt outplay mexico and started running 6 defenders. if anything im worried for ecuador. either mexico is better than we give them credit for or ecuador is only good on paper and overhyped. Its the Coach. We have such great players but no plan or ideas out in the pitch. Coach has no idea what hes doing with the team. He is basically experimenting in the COPA AMERICA. If Ecuador would have lost this game he was going to get fired.

Ecuador came for their result to advance. If we were in 3rd needing the win, it would have been different. Pay attention to the game vs Argentina because it’s going to be different. I’m not saying Ecuador has a big chance to beat Argentina but they are not going to play the way they played vs Mexico. Futbol is not always about offense, offense, offense. You need defense to win a game and that’s what we did so the work is done and we are in the next round and Mexico on the next flight to Mexico. I would be happy if Kevin is subbed and Yeboah starts.

The only way Mexican soccer will change is if Grupo Pachuca takes control of FMF. Televisa, Azteca, Orlegi, and all the other groups have never done anything for the betterment of Mexican futbol. Pachuca develops the best Mexican players, they literally have a futbol university, every time they've won a title they have always had young players.

As an Ecuadorian , I am happy for Ecuador but severely dissapointed and worrried about their desire and aim to tie. The game was structured for a tie. The coach is NOT good at all made some late changes and the worst of all the forward players are too individualistic. This aint golf.
Guillermo almada is the ideal coach… Pachuca plays with a lot of academy players that are Méxican and obtains results. Did something similar with santos.

Chucky is back in MLS.. he’s done so I actually agree that they’re moving on from him. Tecatito used to be a monster on the side but whenever they used chucky/tecatito/raul trident they literally never scored lol. They need better midfielders, we don’t see HH and Guardados anymore. Edson is fantastic but he’s a defensive mid.. doesn’t do much to produce offense and it’s not his job.

Ecuador has not veen able toncrack how to beat Argentina the last couple times they played but they have given them a lot of headaches. This is big issue I have with Mexicans. Did you really say Mexico went against weaker teams? From someone from Sudamérica we consider Mexico weaker than Ecuador and Venezuela in the present. Mexico was never a team we considered comparable to the Conmebol teams yeah sure Venezuela and Ecuador weren’t good in the past. They have the capacity to put and take out coaches, they choose who's going to be the soccer federation president because here is an important fact, all the previuos and current president they come from televisa since they where former employees of that place. The biggest enemy of Mexico are the narrators and commenters, they keep pushing the talk that Mexico is behind Brazil and Argentine in ranking because they played the final once. At that rate even Chile is above Mexico. Mexico plays good like many Conmebol teams, but the pressure on the team to perform is too much, and if you played the game, you know creativity does not come easy when all the eyes are on you, when the tribune has been goaded to yell Ole, Ole , and as usual, they finish with the homophobic chant. Put the press and TV on guard, be sober and do what you know, and the rewards will come Mexico! Wrote this before hearing Solteros take. And while I do think Soltero mostly has his head up his a**, he's absolutely right on this one. No matter the coach, it's impossible to meet the unrealistic expectations Mexican Media sets for their national team.
Thing with Mexico is that vs big teams like Argentina Brazil and stuff like that Mexico plays so much better. But then play down to teams like Venezuela Jamaica and Ecuador cause we think we are so good.
