Most underrated lines: What, these old things? I’m bout to throw’em away With the gold rings that make’m don’t fit like OJ I usually take em off with oil or old aide MC’s is crabs in a barrel, pass the Old Bay.
I wouldnt be surprised if DOOMs writing found its way into the classroom. This man took apart wordplay, put it back together... Then took it apart again just bc he could 💁🏼
This video needs more views. Thank you guys for going in depth and breaking down one of my favorite rappers. R.I.P LEGEND. JUST REMEMBER ALL CAPS WHEN YOU SPELL THE MAN NAME! MF DOOM
Eh, the video mostly just said what the message of the line a line or verse is, but didn't actually explain how the lyrics mean that or what makes the lyricism good. Still glad to see some lesser known DOOM tracks getting shouted out though
Pretty much confirm what I thought when I first heard him. Dense lyrics couldn't understand all his lyrics needs professors like these guys too fully understand him.
Like Madlib said in his interview with Talib it takes a certain level of intelligence to decipher what the late great MF DOOM was saying. Even El-P mentioned about MF DOOM being a excellent writer which is sadly becoming more and more extinct as these new school rappers are coming on to the scene. It seems in order to get a record deal you have to be a gang member, do drill rap(which I hate with a passion) or be on some emo type sh*t where you are rapping and singing.
DOOM would also do really compact a lot of wordplay in a dense verse. His verse on Break In The Action with Czarface is pretty complex for a relatively appearance.
Listen...I've been on DOOM, since he slipped into the world. I heard right away, what he was up to.... He would write FORWARD...... And, each word, would rhyme exactly (most times) in the next verse phonetically, word for word. Not just making the last word of a line rhyme....like " bling *filler filler filler* and ending with something ending in 'ing' " He used up all the available space. I'll end with this.... Look for "10 ways to spot a whack MC" He didn't use profanity for a reason.....now, Vik Vaughn WOULD, but he's a different persona, so, different rules and structure. The Earth has lost a true genius. My life was never the same after experiencing his work. Rest in peace, to a true GOD
5 = Man 6 = God 5+6 = 11 = The Union of Man and God ABRAHADABRA = 5 vowels + 6 consonants = 11 letters "Do What Thou Wilt" shall be the whole of the Law = 11 words Love is the Law, Love under Will
When looking up MF DOOM lyrics, does anyone else feel like when people write the lyrics, they sometimes add weird breaks that changes how the song flows as you read it while listening? 'Cause at first, I wasn't really fucking with MF DOOM until I saw them written as they sounded where I could see the internal rhymes schemes happening and make better sense of his flow.
I’m finding a lot of white people reviewing MF DOOM and say he’s just throwing things together just because they don’t know what he is talking about 🤦🏾♂️ thank you to the first and last guy they get it
@@nicholaslandau4324 What do you mean? The second dude to introduce himself did a great job breaking down DOOMs lyrics to a literal term and emphasising the points of the meaning to them, almost noone I know ever catches the broadway line and has any idea what the reference is to
As a white hip hop oldhead, I get heated when I mention DOOM, and they're like "oh yeah, the doritos, fritos, and cheetos guy", as though he didn't work Freudian and Accordion in the next breath. Didn't realize when he featured on 3rd Bass's The Gas Face that I was witnessing the birth of the Super Villain.
yes bruh, so many triple entendres that this guy doesnt recognize, hat company, the nine as a gun, the nine as police all while saying hes a criminal mind. dude is stupid
