I bought the Crosswinds a little over a week ago. I was flying with the Thruster Master TFRP. Your feet were close together and movements could be sudden with little or no feel for center, The Crosswinds have improved my flying, so I'm sold. A must for flying a warbird or a helicopter. Great review for those who have not taken the plunge. I will add, if you are not a serious simmer, you can go with something cheaper for sure. I fly DCS almost everyday, so it was a great upgrade for me.

I have a set of the Saitek pedals and I absolutely hate them. I am gonna upgrade to either the MFG Crosswind or the Virpil Ace pedals. A couple questions if I may. Is this assembly all metal or is it all 3D printed graphite or whatever? Also, how do those pedals feel on your feet? The Saitek pedals are VERY uncomfortable. Do you have the combat pedals seen in this video or the larger ME109 pedals?

@@JodiTrommler I have the BF109 pedals and I do like the fit to your feet. It is made of a metal and heavy 3d printed parts. Been almost a year now and I’m still happy.

Just ordered these rudder pedals, also coming from the Saiteks. Glad to hear they're well built, great video!

I strongly suggest you get the damper kit for these, you will notice a much nicer feeling rudder, smoother with precise control. You won't get the wobble you mentioned as the damper completely fixes this. A must buy i would say. I apologize if you have already done this
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech 2 года назад
Thanks for that! I've looked into it and it does seem to have fairly good modification and I'll post an update if it seems worth it. For the price, it probably should come with a must-buy like that though, it's only a few dollars of hardware.

@@tenminutetech Trust me, you will be super impressed. The difference is easy worth it. It's the same damper the bike boys use on their steering and they say its a must have for them, give it a try

I’m super excited after months of searching to decide on these MFG Rudder Pedals to build my home flight set up when I’m not in the air. Saw the hydraulic damper and am thinking of just getting all of it at once instead of waiting. What flight simulators do you use ?

@@pilotintraining2391 I just use MFS 2020. Don't think about it mate, just do yourself a favour and get the whole package. Its a game changer for sure👍

@tenminutetech 2 года назад
@@pilotintraining2391 I use MSFS2020, DCS, and play Star Citizen. Havent touched xplane in a number of years but that's an option too. Also, you can probably pick up MSFSX pretty cheap. It sounds like you should just get the damper at the same time. I would also suggest just 3D printing your own foot rests, its not worth what MFG charges for them.

i'm building a A320 home cockpit. my big question is: thrustmaster TPR pendular or MFG Crosswind V3?
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech Год назад
Hmm that's a good question. I haven't used the Thrustmaster rudder pedals enough myself (I don't own them) but they're built a bit solid I think. I was surprised how simple (almost cheaply?) the MFG pedals were though. They're not bad and they're better than the old saitek pedals I have, and with the damper mod they're pretty solid. I'm just not sure they actually justify the cost after using them for the past few months. On the bright side, there's a very good chance you can sell the MFG's if you don't like them on reddit, because people really talk them up on the internet.
@henrikolsen5
@henrikolsen5 2 года назад
Have you tried the Thrustmaster TPR? Would like to hear your comparison.
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech 2 года назад
I have not, but that would be just as interesting of a comparison as with the old Saitek pedals. The TPR's use a pendulum design rather than slider (saitek) or pivot (MFG), so they're all different. I think there may be some benefit to the pendulum design though, and from my experience the sliders are the worst. After having used the MFG's for the past month or so, I do kinda feel like they're a bit overpriced and overbuilt for what they accomplish. It boils down to an expensive pivot system and aside from the toe brakes, I feel like this whole thing could be 3D printed + $10 of hardware and a couple hall sensors and have moderate success (minus software I guess). Nothing against the guy who makes these, they're solid aside from the weird choice to bolt on 3D printed footrests when the rest is CNC. It's definitely not worth spending $35 on the pedals, he should post the files IMO. Anyway, rant over. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the review! Wondering if the total width of the pedals with these footrests are narrower than the full size footrests?

Whats preferred here for general aviation and occasional helo/big jets, using those cessna pedals or just the base graphite longer pedal that it comes with stock, or something else, i myself wouldnt change pedals much if ever, looking for a one and done option, leaning toward the cessna?
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech Год назад
The cessna style pedals are very similar to what's used almost all most aircraft, including big planes and military jets. Helos will lack toe brakes and sometimes are just a handlebar. The full foot pedals that come on the logitech rudders, with a full foot rest, are just not good. It's some weird gamified shape that was invented by somebody at who just didn't know better, or never flew a real plane. Your heels should be on the ground and slide, and make you lift your foot distinctly up to use the brakes (so they don't ever get used on accident on takeoff). I would never recommend the full foot pedals, so for a one and done, definitely pedals that mimic real aircraft like these.
@priest9235
@priest9235 3 месяца назад
@@tenminutetechto be fair the full foot pedals are reminiscent of the ones found in BF109s and FW-190s. Such as the ME109 pedals for the MFG crosswinds?
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech 3 месяца назад
@@priest9235 Totally fair! Truth be told, I never flew a German WW2 fighter myself, but if the intent is to have an experience reminiscent of a plane from that era, then it would make sense to use. However, I think it's also valid to point out that modern planes aren't designed that way because the ergonomics just don't work as well. I'd venture to say that what we use now is an overall an improvement BUT! I totally get if somebody wants to simulate the experience of and older plane. Thanks for the comment btw!

whats better: Crosswind V3 or WinWiing Orion?
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech 4 месяца назад
I don't have a set of the WinWings to test myself but I find the Crosswind V3 to be 'fine' and the WinWing's appear to be very similar. At the same price I'd probably buy the WinWing's today, because of the look and quality appears *visually* better. But again, I don't have any to test or to compare so YMMV.

You have the saitek pedals set up incorrectly. The extenders you have against the cupboard should be on your foot side. Also you are only supposed to have feet on when braking, otherwise you should not have you feet on the pedals but simply push them with the ball of your feet, with shoes on of course.

I always thought Crosswinds were machined aluminum. I had no idea they were all plastic. Those people have to be laughing all the way to the bank for what they are charging.
@tenminutetech
@tenminutetech Год назад
I kinda thought so too, until I received them. I'm sure it's because it makes manufacturing easier although I'm not sure why they community hypes them up so much considering the price.
@shagrat47
@shagrat47 10 месяцев назад
They are not "plastic", not even remotely. 😂 They are a composite material used in furniture production, as well. Toe-brake mechanic and casing is aluminum, axis/joints parts are metal screws. In my opinion, especially with the excessive adjustment options it's pretty decent. You have adjustabke toe-brake angle, brake force, optional spacers for wider or narrower pedals, different CAMs to adjust axis-curves physical feedback, the spring tensioner and the damper-kit. The last a god-send for heli-simmers who don't have 1,800-2,500 EUR for a professional heli-setup.
