Hardware Review: MFG Crosswind 

I am still using those very pedals. its now 6 years. They are still very very good. And they needed one repair, which was my own fault (electronic issues) Stilll very much recommended. 3500h+ in IL-2 and no degradation in any noticeable way

Love the last reason! :-D I'd add one more, however. I have just had my MFG's arrive at my door... Xmas bonus! I am new to flight sims, just getting started. I am also a glider pilot in my ( very little) spare time. As a pilot, dipping my toes into the sim world I rapidly came to one conclusion, that is, I need something as close to a real cockpit as I can get to feel any real sense of immersion into the sim. A laptop and a very basic joystick doesn't do it for me. I need a stick, throttle, pedals and at least TrackIr, preferably VR, to feel a part of things instead of like a remote observer, just looking at something happening on a screen that isn't really anything to do with me. I admire hugely the skills of the many sim pilots I see posting their flights, who seem able to do miraculous thing with very basic gear, kudos to you all! I just need a little more help to get my old brain to throw itself into the game. I plan to play with (in!) the sims for a long time, so investing in a decent computer and quality peripherals makes sense for me. I am an old bloke, not too many years from retirement so the cost is not as much of an issue as it is to you youngsters :-) As an amateur but enthusiastic student of WW2 fighter aviation for most of my life, the chance to immerse myself into this field in a way that I never would have believed possible just a few years ago is an absolute joy. I look forward to getting my butt kicked online by most of you guys in the near future as I start my journey up the learning curve! Happy New Year to you!

They aren't carbon fiber, they are made from HPL (High Pressure Laminate) a composite material used in wood working. It's literally paper and plastic resin. The guy that makes them owns a furniture business and uses the materials he's used to.

I've been using Crosswinds about 6 months now. Yes, they were a bit expensive but I could not be happier once I got them :)

I have them too and like them really much! Only complaint is lack of friction as they're quite slippery. That's why I fly with out socks :-)

I just received the saitek /Logitech pedals, and although I suck at them and sometimes forget to use them, aiming has improved tremendously without the errant twist movements of the joystick. I often think about priority of 2ndary hardware and although I can't rate pedals over trackIR, it does make as big of an impact for me.

Got them today - worth every cent indeed. Feels like an actual airplane part!

I have searched you tube many times for rudder pedals. none of this came up so I settled for the pro flights.and i barely found reviews on them.Damn those MFG's look good. may bee next christmas. Thanks youtube.

WORTH.EVERY.PENNY. Seriously. I just received mine after a 7 week wait and they are totally amazing. The hardest thing is to retrain all your twist rudder tendencies that you never even know that you had...that sudden panic when you are not turning, and then you realize you are trying to use your twist rudder that is now disabled and you suddenly swerve drunkenly on the taxiway as you way overcorrect. I forgot to invert my brake axis in the beginning as well and couldn't figure out why my A-10 wouldn't release brakes... PS - are you ever going to post any DCS footage?

As he stated MULTIPLE times - these pedals are OPTIONAL but they're the ones to get if you're SERIOUS about improving your flying experience. The one 'secondary' peripheral that REALLY will change EVERYTHING is head-tracking i.e. TrackIR - a TRULY game changing experience awaits. :>)

Nice review Sheriff! I've not seen a bad review of these pedals and they are on my wish list...but for now my little T.16000M joy stick (not HOTAS) works fine until I can save up a little extra cash here and there.

Thanks for this. I'm still on a thrustmaster hotas but I use the rocker switch on the throttle as the rudder instead of the twist.

Got my pedals on the 17th and what a great investment, these will last for years, and there light, I feel I have much smoother response, and more yaw. 5 thumbs up!!!!!

Here is a funny related story: I actually dug out some old pedals from an old kit I bought for Euro Truck simulator. Even these plain old things without toebreaks make a huge difference. Best part is - I don't even have to touch them in the settings because they seem pretty precise. So ye... moral of the story(I guess) is that you shouldn't throw old stuff away as you might find some rather unusual use for it. The steering wheel went for tank driving in WT... Anyway, these seem to be some really good pedals. Might actually move to them but again - the price.

I got these and hotas warthog, and flying felt so damn weird because these are the first pedals i've ever used, but now i am getting used to them . Also my chair tends to move backwards a bit when i apply full rudder.

Those are a beautiful product. I use ch products pedals but find that they are too close together, I'm planning on modifying them slightly for wider positioning and also angling the pedals more for my seating position.

Thanks Sheriff - nice review! I have the MFG Crosswind V2 pedals and they work fine with Microsoft Flight Sim but I can't get IL2 to recognize them. Does anyone have any experience with this?

What mic do you use to record your voice and what program do you use? Either my mic is crappy or I'm using crap software as the recording is horrible. It doesn't pick up the low tones do it goes up and down really badly. I'm using Astro a40 1st gen with Audacity to record

I'm hoping to get a set of these one day. Right now I just have a set of T. Flight Rudder Pedals by Thrustmaster. You mentioned my biggest problem - Now I have to sit a certain way. Now, the cheapest part of my setup is this awful chair and desk. To get a full range of motion out of my pedals, I have to sit far back enough that holding my joystick is "reaching". Word to the wise - before "great peripherals", you should at least have a "decent cockpit". Make sure that you have a chair that isn't garbage, and a desk that will accommodate your pedals in the right spot. Ergonomics, son, ergonomics.

I have Track IR...but I don't use it much...I'm unco, and I find it difficult to get used to. Ah well I guess I should use it until I can use it better. The pedals look phenomenal. If only I could afford stuff like that!!!

I've already got the pro flight combat rudder pedals from Saitek, but I'm still considering getting these. They just seem to be so damn good and since I like to fly helicopters as much as planes I could really use all the precision I can get. XD

I have the Thrustmaster Warthog, Track IR, MFG Crosswind's, 48" main viewing screen with two 9" separate touch screens for displaying the MFD's and Dolby surround sound with powered sub. What else can I do to make it even more realistic experience when flying my A10 in DCS?

I wonder if Sheriff might get some coupon codes off Milan to entice people to get them? XD

Did you ever just get burnt out on sim flying? I sometimes play WT sim battles (with a mouse) and I just can't seem to keep on playing.

hey man i finally buy a joystick after full month playing sim battle on war thunder and i join the dcs elite world.... ofc there is some warbird but there is plenty of recent jet. and i want to have your point of view on this game because actually u never makes video on it :)

And this is why I can never fully get into flight sims, the equipment alone would cost me multiple months worth of income :D
