Tracked down a lancaster vintage version of Joop! Homme & i wanted to come to youtube for a comparison. Of course fragrance matt is the only chanel with a comparison of the vintage to the current version on youtube still to this day. vintage Joop is still very easy to find. the quickest way to know if its vintage is by looking for the logo on the top front of the bottle . the vintage version is definitely a lot better
given i LOVE Joop Homme already, now you made me crave for the vintage, i like that this video is longer, i love hearing you go on frags, please if possible make each video long lol. this is not everybody's cup of tea, i learnt to love it like Amen and Bogart line :) have an awesome day man, great great review as usual :)
my gosh finally after many many many fragrance reviews of classic men's fragrances there is actually a review that takes the OG original formulation of the fragrance and directly puts it in comparison to the latest incarnation of said classic fragrance... You would think that would have been the rule of thumb all along for all these fragrance reviewers ! KUDOOS to you Matt keep it up? this should be the format for any review on a classic men's fragrance...
I’m truly enjoying the new version of Joop! I love fruity fresh vanilla type fragrances! So it’s just right in my opinion. And it last a long time. I get whiffs of the scent all day. I never spray my clothes either! This scent goes well with my body chemistry. I always get compliments. Although it doesn’t matter to me. I wear it because i enjoy it! This is actually my signature scent as i speak. I will continue to wear it through out the fall and winter! I truly adore this Cologne! One of my most loved and favorite cheapies! 😎💟 Enjoyed your review bro!
i don't know vintage formulation but i have bottles of Joop! Homme from 2015 as well as 2016 and i freakin' love it. this is my all-round, signature scent. it lasts, it projects, it smells great and it's quite cheap. i just had to spray myself after watching this video :D

I've got a vintage 2.5oz (75ml) that was the first "expensive" cologne I purchased in the mid 90's. Probably a little more than half the juice remains, but it has turned more brown. I was afraid it had gone bad, but it still smells ok. I haven't really thought much of wearing it lately, but might pick up a new bottle and test them out. This scent was basically a forced purchased from my girlfriend at the time, and it does seem to be a scent that a female will always comment positively on. With that being said, don't worry about "half the people" that don't like this scent. They're just guys that can't pull it off. haha. The old bottle looks much cooler. Wonder if that "flower" is Lancaster's logo or something. Should have kept it.
I really enjoy these types of videos... I am not a fan of this fragrance personally but that is because I remember being stuck in high school in the early 90s with fellow students who BATHED in this stuff... The scent would fill the classroom and it smelt a lot like sweet burnt plastic... Because I have such a negative memory of it I just have never looked into the current formulation or any of the flankers... I have heard people say that they think Joop! Homme smells like Individual by Mont Blanc or Original Santal from Creed and I don't think either of those fragrances smell ANYTHING like what I remember Joop! smelling like... I really enjoy the other two fragrances... Great job as always my friend... ^_^
My goodness! The vintage is so amazing! Its such a shame that it was reformulated. I still wear it during the colder months, but its almost just a shell of its former self.. It was almost an edible dna, people would ask if anyone made caramel popcorn, or baked cookies or cinnamon rolls whenever id wear this, just sublime... So sad, truley 😢😢... Great review and thanks for revisiting this awesome fragrance, brings back so many Clubby memories
I have both and found no discernible difference testing them side-by-side, interesting that you found some nuances. The variation in smell could even be down to aging if you think your bottle is around 20 years old... Great take Matt!
I have some vintage still left of this. I applied it some sprays around 2pm. Its almost 11pm and i can still smell it projecting off me. Todays colognes would have died hours ago
I have both and they're the same. It may be placebo affect. This fragrance is what got me into fragrances. Dolce and gabanna light blue rekindled my fragrance journey.
I bought an original bottle,production date 08/2016 ,i love the smell but i miss projection and longevity.I wish i can buy the 80s version. I like strong and distinctive scents but i cant find a decent one in 2017. The reformulations destroy this feature,for example Fahrenheit is a lot weaker and different. the only one that i find is the cheap denim original eau de toilette. Maybe you know a similar fragrance that is strong,maskuline with high projection and longevity. as i say ,i love Joop homme but i need to spray too much for good projection. P.s i like your precise description in the video,so i subscribed instantly =) sorry for my english cheers from italy
I wore Joop in the early 90's - total fanny magnet 😁🤣. I'd probably get some weird looks if I wore it today though - more of a 'Green Irish Tweed' kinda guy now.

I think mine which i sold a few years back was late 90's vintage, i didn't use it much, i just found it maybe too sweet and floral or something, and it was probably the most common aftershave people used in my town, along with le male and versace blue jeans haha, so i just wanted to smell different. Cool water used to be a lot stronger too, thankfully i still have a vintage edt bottle, the current one is completely crap in comparison.
I saw a 125 ml lancaster Version on Willhaben( similar to rebuy) where people sell things they dont need. For 10 €. But i could't buy it. I told the elderly woman what she owns and what price is right for the item. She made 120€ of it and i was happy for her. I use the vintage Version of aromatics elixir at the time. Its overwhelming
Surely classic (old) bottles of fragrance have gone a bit off over the years. I am reasonably new to fragrances but I have an old bottle of Drakkar Noir from I would guess the early to mid 2000s and when I smell it now I can still get some of the notes I used to get but for the most part the fragrance itself just smells old and slightly off. Can anyone explain why people like or want vintage bottles and does the old juice ever stay good?
Just got my new bottle of JOOP! today. It's the Coty version. First impression, is that it smells the same as before, but after wearing it for an hour, it's starting to deviate quite a bit. It's starting to make me queezy. I smells off. I have an old, small bottle, of the Lancaster version which I will now cherish. I also have a 30ml bottle of the Femme version (Lancaster), I also wear. Smells woodier than JOOP! Homme. They smell like a flanker of one another.
Every perfume from the 80’s and 90’s ALL contained some ingredient (don’t know what it was) that acted like an amplifier. It amped up the notes and made the scent jump off the skin. It also made scents last for days. Not hours like todays watered down junk. I know everyone likes to blame IFF for banning certain ingredients because of allergies and such but I’m sure whatever that ingredient was was removed purposly to make frags weaker to improve sales.
Everyone smoked everywhere in the 80s and 90s, so perfumes needed to be more potent. ;) But anyone calling Joop! weak can't have much sense of smell...
diethyl phthalate was banned by IFRA and this is a solvent but it also made fragrances last much much longer. This ban, along with oakmoss, civet, etc. has simply gutted fragrances in my opinion. I think they should just label the bottles and let the consumer make the choice to assume any risk from the ingredients or not. Most beautiful older fragrances have been ruined thanks to IFRA. Joop still smells great, others didn't fare so we'll.
The smelll of Joop literally will fill an entire room, office or even night club! And linger long after. I honestly gave this stuff a try and each time it smelled like somebody puked cotton candy with cherry cough syrup. It's just so disgustingly sweet. It smells exactly like it looks!! To me it just smells inner city, ghetto and when mixed with certain peoples body chemistry or body odor it just becomes a bio hazard! It's for the young definitely

There are actually 3 versions Original version logo on front bottle. 4digit Batch code on bottom of the bottle in white Second version logo on the front of the bottle. On the bottom of the bottle it is by Lancaster and long Batch code in black New version. No logo. By dist. By Coty
Do us a favor and post the batch codes... It would be great to see what vintage your vintage really is. I purchased a discount 6.7 oz. of classic Joop! Homme from ForeverLux and the batch is less than two years old, which is nice. Perhaps the older bottle you have has changed over time... But post the codes and let's see! Great video.
The older formulations BEAST MODE the newer ones are no near the same Jpg Le male was the same formulation in the 90s were nuclear strength now they are weak as Joop homme awesome scent

Thanks Alex! Yeah I have and it's trash. The smell is generic and it lacks depth and longevity. I'll choose the original over it. Just my personal opinion though Bro 👊

I never understand the attention Joop and the whole line still gets? IMO terriible in the 90's and ever since, sorry Matt. MB Individuel is better and that's nothing special. I can think of dozens of inexpensive and better clubbing alternatives. Still loving your content 😉
I have a hard time listening to this man. He does does not appear to know the product very well and I don't believe it is his own product that he is showing. Not believable.
