MG Gundam Barbatos (Review) 

This looks glorious, glad that I didn't pick up the 1/100 barbatos yet. It would be foolish if bandai didn't make more mg ibo gundams with a frame that is as universal as it is.

when you connect the smooth bore rifle to the backpack and have the kit hold it you have to rotate the entire mechanical arm around so that it bends the opposite way. that's why it wasn't giving you enough articulation to pose the gun with the arm connected.

I’m definitely getting two so that I can have an extra to modify into one of the manga gundams with some 3D printing

They should just release a MG Graze now.... and then start with the avalanche of P-Bandai variations.

I couldn't get to like the Barbatos design, but the details and mechanics of this kit is super.

I would like to paint mg barbatos but it looks like there are a lot of sliding armor gimmick and I'm afraid my paints will just get scratch marks

I’m having a problem with the inner frame legs. The directions are showing connection points that aren’t there. I’ve disassembled and tried to reassemble many times and it’s not working.

sooo.... the arm can't rotate 360 degree? i don't think you can rotate the shoulder armor

This looks like a new generation of MGs. MG Barbatos deserves the "Full Mechanics" title more than the actual Full Mechanics kits.

If the frame is universal, this kit would be rife with customizing options. If Bandai makes more MG ibo gundams production would be easier if they use the same ibo frame

Everyone wants that Lupus, but I want that MG Lupus Rex. I hope this means that IBO will be getting more MG kits though. As much as I like the FM kits, i thought for sure they would have released more MG's by now.

Yup love that series for me was very good i have seen a lot of gundam series but never finish them some I did finish watching but never leftme wanting to see more as IBO, love the brutality on it the sound of metal smashing was awesome all the characther good twist and sad twists the only thing that left me down is the wnding and that they didn't continue witj the gundam armors isnlike they fast foward the series to end it quick is sad but I guess they wanted to promote other things so as you can see yeah love Barbatos, got the 1/100 scale but mine does not come with that shield do, and I have no no complain with it but yeah I will get that MG for sure and if they do a PG well never spend a lot of money on a toy or model kit in this case but I would buy that one all day no questions ask. Man thanks for sharing the kit and hope to see the painted custom of it please do a video when is finish

Just curious, I like your videos, great content, but it seems like almost all of the reviews I see you do, you preface them with, "I wasn't a fan of this series or these designs." What series do you like? What designs do you like, cause it seems like for the most part you don't care for much of it at all.

Dude, this has to be one of the most gorgeous Master Grade kits I’ve ever seen! One of my favorite aspects of a Master Grade kit is the engineering of the innerframe, and I just geeked out watching this! :D I was never able to really get into IBO, but in the few episodes I did watch, I really liked the Barbatos, so I’m excited to see it get a Master Grade release. :)

The cockpit can also open with the white price of the chest unless I am mistaken

jesus christ, I thought people were exaggerating calling it basically a pg in mg scale, they weren't. That is an insane level of engineering that went into this design. the only thing really missing is a non sticker clear bit for the smooth bore gun and pg style hands. I wouldn't be shocked at all if bandai made a pg that's basically just that, a sized up mg with better hands and slightly improved detailing.

So best MG of 2019?

This kit looks amazing when built BUT a NIGHTMARE to clean up! Since most of the frame is exposed, it was really hard to find out which nubs on the frame will be showing after you put on all the armour. Unfortunately, taking it apart to clean up gets tricky due to all the moving parts. My kit also came with the loose parts a lot of people experienced (1 foot joint, 1 shoulder armour, and the cockpit top all pop off too easily and I had to coat them to tighten up) Still looks awesome when built, even better when fully painted, just time consuming for an MG that's supposed to have less parts than most kits! Great Review!

I’m terrible at kits, don’t have the patience, but this is just g o r g e o u s.

I know the Kimaris Vidar design was very controversal, but damn i think a master grade version would really do it justice. Its just the weight of the drill lance would make it difficult to hold.

This really really makes me want an Atlas MG

I'm gonna guess that the next gundam using this frame will be the lupus since it seems like the easiest retool of this kit. Flauros would need some new stuff for the transformation.

The inner frame of Master Grade barbatos is basically everything I would have hoped it would be and more. This is plamo bliss..

This build was so different, so unique, and so utterly satisfying all the way through! Brilliant engineering! Excited for more IBO master grades!

As an IBO fan I never quite understood why some people had issues with the designs in it. However seeing this review, I finally understand. UC mobile suits are knights and soliders, while PD (Post Disaster) mobile suits are rogues and duelists. PD mobile suits are so lilith and bare usually, it's the opposite of traditional Gundam which is usually blocky and armored. This kit really emphasizes all the things I love about the IBO designs! I'm really excited to eventually get my kit!

This thing reminds me of how I first felt when building the PG Strike. Amazing inner frame. Can't wait to get one!

If they're gonna do an entire master grade lineup for the all the gundam frames that appeared in the series, they should probably do Bael first... you know, so it doesn't feel pale and bland compared to the gundam frames that'll follow, like the Vidar and the lupus rex..

This one puts my MG's to shame! This thing is perfect! I wonder what the chances for a Perfect Grade are? Would love to see that. Would also love to see a MG Hashmal. I have the 1/144 and I love it. I never understood why no one aimed for the waist sections on mobile suits in IBO. Every one of them seems to have armor everywhere else, but the waist is just a tiny, spindly little joint that should break in one hit.

has anyone had trouble getting it to hold the mace?

Did you have a problem with one of the toes not staying on. I got mine and the one toe piece keeps falling off and didnt click into place like the other one

Is the piston action something relatively new? I haven't built any MGs yet, but this is the first time I'm seeing actual moving pistons on a frame. This coupled with the (relatively) low price point for the Barbatos makes me excited for the future. I'd love to see more IBO MGs, like the Gusion, Dantalion, Helmwige, or one of the Kimaris suits.

The hand also bends out to hold the mace or sword in line with the arm. The hand will bend out almost 90° towards the blue part of the arm.

I have built many many high grades, and real grades, but never a master grade. So, I think this will be my first master grade build. Any little things to look out for when building this from folks who have it?

Looking at how the Full Mechanics have good frames in them, I kinda wish that was the same idea they did for the RE100 line. Not a fan of the designs for the IBO Gundams but this new MG really looks great though.

How does this compare to the 1/100 full mechanics kits?

The sheer amount of detail on this thing gives version Ka. kits a run for their money

I think you forgot that the cockpit hatch can open from the front as well as the top. It's not just the sliding feature
