Absolutely love this series, fascinating glimpses into a few cars I'm not familiar with. However, all through this video I pictured you wearing a flatcap, goggles and a scarf to complete the mood. Worked on a few British cars in the late '60s, --part time at a private garage while going to college--TR6, MGB, Austin America: they were so much cooler than the American cars at the time.

MG T series cars came with a supercharger option, mounted upfront below the grill. I got a ride in a TC whilst my MGB was having its V8 fitted back in 1988. The roof was on at the time so it was rather special looking down that long louvered bonnet. I had a similar experience in my cousins husband's Morgan Plus 4 in England in 1990, I didn't think much of separate guard cars before that, but they are quite nice, more like an event than a trip.

Hi Henry, great video, and interesting to cover something like this. I think it’s great to see ans particularly to encourage young people to get into this vintage of car. As you said, impressionable for youth (as you experienced), fun to drive, and the later TC’s and TD’s more easily attainable and numerous. Check out our restoration of a TC, and let us know if you ever want to do a collaboration! We’d love to meet in the best place to drive an open top T series- California. 👍🏼

As a proud owner of a 1932 Morris Minor Two-Seater, the first M.G. Midget, the M-Type of 1929, was based on the chassis and mechanicals of the humble little Minor. After the M-Type came the J-Type, P-Type, then the T-Type series of Midgets from 1936 onwards. This is definitely my type of car out of the selection, though I really fancy a K3 Magnette. Sadly they're well out of my price range.

The MG is too old for me. The core of my interest in classic cars is my desire to blast back roads. However, I want to feel that I’m safe - without getting rear ended - on the occasional highway drive. I’m not wealthy, so the availability of parts and local mechanics able to work on the car is important to me. I happen to be fortunate enough to be the custodian of two significantly modified classic Porsches - a 914 & a 964. With their respective modifications, both are a wonderfully engaging driving experience on back roads and can easily pass any hot hatch or pickup on the highway. Both aftermarket and OEM parts are readily available for both cars. Certainly they’re more expensive to run than a well designed contemporary car, but the smiles per mile of their analog character far out weights any mass production vehicle out there.

Most countries have produced some great cars in their history we are ALL individuals with different choices, the cars I love the most are British n Italian cars, the MGA the Healy 3000 for a beautiful relaxing drive on a sunny Sunday Morning down country lane is Just magic But in m younger days it could have only been an ELAN driven near its limits Nothing on earth comes even close, you love driving an amazing handling car I do not believe you can get better then of course you have the Alfas the Lancias n the old Ferraris they where ALL designed n build by real engineers who loved what they where doing, today's cars have No soul they are designed n build in wind tunnels n computers but they all look soulless speed machines n they all look similar, other than the 205GTI the golf GTI n the gorgeous Copra, I do Not like modern sports car/sports saloon cars

Wifey hired a Big Healy as a birthday present and we spent the day driving around the Lake District. Absolutely fabulous except it was a mk I and the gearbox was terrible. It took me the full day to learn how not to stall it due to changing down a gear or simply being stationery! Putting it into reverse? Nigh on impossible, which is the last thing you need in a £50k car facing downhill parked in front of a wall.
@polygamous1

@@paulwood6729 But the shear pleasures of driving a beautiful Healey its worth it all the way, my cousin had an Elan he bought one after I told him they just isn't a better drivers car on earth n sometimes he was saying he would get rid of it always needing the Webbers balanced n tune few other issues then one day he said to me cousin I moan i get mad that its not the cheapest or most reliable car to maintain n tip top condition n its Not, But after 5 minutes behind the wheel I can Justify a million pounds to keep my Elan, Next B/D Please hire an Alvis TD 21 the drop head coupe only drove 1 once n not for long Russel Square to Tufnell park, But I instantly knew n felt the build quality, cause when it comes to coach build quality, Britain is by far the Best, everybody else is Second Best, happy ew year mate

I had a TC back in the 1960s and would buy another in preference to the TB as cheaper and drives just as well. The classic 19inch wire wheels with the flowing front wings were lost in the TD, which is nowhere near as good a looking car.
@teresagreene1821
@teresagreene1821 2 года назад
Having lusted after an MG TC, I found that it was knocked out of court by, shall I say, the car's frontal area being rather less than that of, collectively, my wife and I - oh! and she couldn't reach the pedals - despite the offer of platform boots! I bought a Triumph Gloria Southern Cross, another archetypal 'Thirties British sportscar, which is both rather wider and much rarer - now only thirteen four cylinder cars remaining worldwide, The car now resides in California.

I own a '52 TD. It's slow. It's unreliable. The brakes suck. It's small. It's uncomfortable. And I love it! In today's world, it's outclassed by, well, everything. That doesn't matter. It gets more looks than most classic cars. And in the scheme of things, it's not that expensive. A decent, but not perfect TD will run around 20k. Try that with another classic car.
