This tool is a very old Snap On Coil tester. By hooking up your coil to this tool you will see the spark jumping a gap that can be made wider by turning the knob on the right. The edge of the knob then aligns with a scale showing red or green. for a weak coil or strong one. This coil would barely jump the gap at about 1/8 inch. The spark on a good coil would jump almost 1/2 inch. This car would not even try to start with this weak spark. The car was cured with a new coil.
