Huge credit to them for listening and adding a rear wiper. So many rivals are ditching them now.

And the middle head rest too!

With the 3rd rear headrest fitted, can you actually see were the tiny rear wiper has cleaned the rear screen?
@brianiswrong

Have to say I like the design of the alloy wheels. From 10 feet away they look like a very expensive set of ultra slim spoke (aston, lambo, mclaren, ferrari etc) items👍

Just Swipe down from the top. No need to seek out tiny icons. Swipe down from the top centre to open the Climate and swipe down from top right to enter a quick setting menu. Another oversight was the boot, you can lower the floor. I do wish reviewers of vehicles would either familiarise themselves with features or if unsure say nothing. Simples
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
The swipe down is also naff, and consistently fails to work when in motion. We've already reviewed the MG4 generally four times now across the various trims including demonstrating the boot floor, it's hardly white knuckle excitement so we didn't cover the ground again
@fenegroni
@fenegroni 5 месяцев назад
@@BuckleUpShow You say you ‘didn’t cover that ground again’ but you spent quite a fair bit of time describing the looks, and negatively describing the floor. You could have easily referred to previous reviews so viewers are not confused and know where to go and find out more. You could have easily skipped the first 3 minutes basically
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
And then you would have complained that I didn’t talk about the exterior. Stop trying to defend the indefensible. No car is perfect. They all have their fair share of faults. The MG4 is no exception.
@fenegroni

@@BuckleUpShow I think you missed the point: either your review is complete, or focused, and in this case you choose to focus on the wrong stuff if it were meant to be focused on the extend range ability. There’s nothing wrong with expressing opinion in a video, but then do it better. And this is feedback that’s up to you whether to do something with it or not in your next video, but having opinions and being opinionated are not the same thing.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
What does that even mean? People would expect there to be differences between models. The only real exterior ones in this case being the wheels and the rear wiper. Both were covered. Was I wrong to cover those things? 😂 The long and the short of it is, it’s my review, and I can conduct it in any way I see fit. You may not like my opinions, but as someone who reviews lots of cars, including all of this cars rivals, I’m probably more qualified to assess what I do and don’t like about it, compared to an owner who is blind to any shortcomings or slight criticism. It’s called objectivity. You should try it some time.

Have an MG4 Trophy and being rear wheel drive it is actually surprisingly good fun to hustle round the bends. Ours doesn't have the rear wiper and quite frankly to fit a wiper the size of a Matchbox car is pretty pointless and then to cover the rear screen up completely with a third head rest (which is sensible from a safety perspective) means you cant see out of the window anyway. Hence why they fitted the rear camera and 360 camera system in the first place which overall works pretty good. Only real criticism of the car is the LKA is too aggressive although I believe there is possibly a firmware update to calm this down. Will see when it is serviced later in the year. Also a couple of extra interior lights wouldn't have gone amiss. Other than that love ours.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
The wiper and head rear were a huge oversight and thankfully, MG listened to owners and fixed it. The infotainment screen is pretty poor to use in our opinion, and the the lack of physical buttons is frustrating. The LKA will probably be adjusted in an future over the air update, but right now, it’s not the best.

MG will be sold in Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, but no release date has been given for those four market yet. But I do know that MG Motor CEE has opened up job applications for country sales manager for those countries.

As well as Greece, though MG has been available in Greece since September 2023, and sold pretty well in the market, with a bit under 2% market share in February 2024.

my wife recently had one delivered after owning an e208 for 3 years. boot is very small compared to the e208. lane keep assist is borderline dangerous the way it randomly yanks the steering wheel. suspension is a bit on the firm side. steering feel is non existent. infotainment is the usual menu driven mess. overall I'd take the e208,. excessive wind noise from drivers side A pillar (needs to be fixed)

Dark interiors are considered sporty, they have the same metals in china we have here, you mean you're suspicious of Chinese build quality and if they produce metal of the same standard

What version infotainment were you running on the MG4? There's a pull down menu from the middle of the infotainment screen for your A/C controls and another on the top right corner for shortcuts, in the latest R46 and R59 versions.
@BuckleUpShow

It doesn't matter, 1 pulling down menus is hit and miss on this system but 2 real buttons are so much better, Euro NCAP agrees and will now be evaluating cars based on this

@@BuckleUpShow I like real buttons too, and have the right star button mapped to the HVAC controls. I used to mess with Regen at the beginning now I just leave it on the default of 3 unless on a long motorway journey then I change it to adaptive and forget about it.

Also, please note that the stock Turanza tyres are likely made in China. Please check. They are not using the same compound as the ones made in Europe (either Spain or Italy) and provide less grip. It's an unfortunate exercise in cost saving by Continental and Bridgestone for the global market. If you fit the now more relevant Turanza 6 (I have the ones made in Italy) they provide better performance, despite being a touring tyre. Fit a set of some more advanced UHP tyre and you won't be disappointed, as the handling is very good even in the ER version of the MG4.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
I wouldn't expect any long range EV to be fitted with a very grippy tire for range reasons
@fenegroni
@fenegroni 5 месяцев назад
@@BuckleUpShow the Turanza 6 made in Italy I have fitted provide same if not better mls/kwh than the stock tyres, yet better grip, as they are low rolling resistance tyres but not made in china. It really is unfortunate that the compounds are different: they can obviously make the same tyres anywhere in the world but choose to save some money in the compounds made in China.

@fenegroni

@@BuckleUpShow no it does not. 5000 winter miles here in the uk: it does get dirty like a regular saloon, not like a regular hatchback with no boot sticking out directing the airflow elsewhere. Having a rear wiper is good, but not essential. Unlike on say a golf or a mini suv.

@@BuckleUpShow What? An estimation based on 50% of a charge? The car itself has a GOM (guessometter) only. I do still have a diesel car. When I first got it I used to check the actual distance covered between fill and divide it by the actual litres used. I did this for several months. When my MG does arrive I will follow the same pattern of recording actual complete data over an extended period. In my case it is just curiosity. As a person who posts videos you probably need to start collecting actual data.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
I had the car for a week. We’ve had four other versions of the MG4 for a week. The comments in the video are for illustrative purposes. Every driving style is going to produce different results, so it’s never going to match up to manufacturer or owners data. As disclosed, the car wasn’t in optimal conditions, but the m/kWh suggest a 300 range would be possible on a summers day. The range was, and has been, pretty accurate in our collective experience across the different versions. You collect your own data, I don’t think you’d believe ours even if we tried to show it to you in a video.
@user-ec7dc7hh9o
@user-ec7dc7hh9o 5 месяцев назад
@@BuckleUpShow I am more than happy to accept actual data. That is the point. Actual data is always better than an estimate.
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 5 месяцев назад
Okay then, so the average across the week was 3.2miles/kWh equating to a roughly 250 mile range for 100% charge. The temperature was between zero and seven degrees Celsius during the week. Far below optimal for a BEV. The best efficiency we saw was 3.7miles/kWh, equating to roughly 285 miles range. I was also not driving in an economical manner, just my normal driving style. Therefore, based on this, I have no doubt that in warmer temperatures and by driving a little more carefully, this is a 300+ mile vehicle.
