A follow up to the D-dog guide video. This time D-Horse enters the Winner's enclosure and I go over the pro's and con's of this stallion. I'm all out of Horse puns. SHAREfactory™ store.playstation.com/#!/en-g...
Wish they gave him some more utility, like all those holsters on his armor holding weapons you can swap during the mission without requesting supplies each time.
@ONI i usually do all the side ops on the map before leaving. going back to the helicopter costs 60,000 each pick up. supply drops are also expensive but i only need 2 or 3 for a whole map.
You forgot to mention he can teleport to your location no matter where he or you are which is an ability none of the other vehicles have which is honestly super bueno and needed to be said
which... includes anything dhorse carries at the moment. having to exfiltrate an area, but cant fulton them? slap them on the horse. run where you need to be. call him to your side. done!
@@saedimic When planning to teleport a prisoner to you, though, you have to make sure to leave D-Horse in a place that no enemies will stumble upon him. I once left D-Horse with a prisoner within sight of a road outside a camp. While I was exploring the camp, I heard voices saying they found the prisoner - some road patrols had found D-Horse. I whistled for D-Horse and he teleported to me unharmed, but the prisoner was gone from his back. (It’s kind of stupid of the soldiers to not kill or tie up the horse that was carrying the escaped prisoner…)
In the begining I was expecting him to behave a lot like the horses on Breath Of The Wild, where they can't hear you if you stray too far from them, it's a good thing he can teleport like Quiet.
D-Horse can actually force guards to tell you everything if you have it defacate on them apparently. Missed ability opportunities for D-Horse + Storage armor - hold extra ammo, and utilities (as mentioned by another poster) + cybernetic armor - allow D-Horse to jump higher over obstacles + allow D-Horse to kick vehicles over and soldiers on command + create way point commands, so D-Horse can walk/trot/run automatically while you can aim and fire independently on horse back.
late but with the furicorn set, d-horse travels noticeably faster than his other sets, about roughly 1.4 times faster and a staggering 1.50 faster gallop while retaining half the armor properties of the battle dress.
D-Horse's ability to appear literally anywhere with the whistle has saved my booty. Once I was cornered and completely suppressed by the Soviets, but D Horse came to my little corner when I needed him deep in the enemy base and we were able to yeet on outta there
D-Horse will always be my personal favourite companion to use and is ideal for solitary play. He doesn't give you free wallhacks like D-Dog, he doesn't give you covering fire like Quiet, and he doesn't give you the massive toolbox that D-Walker has, but D-Horse will always be ready to teleport to your side and get you across the map at breakneck pace, which is exactly what someone like me who prefers working alone wants. D-Horse gets a somewhat bad rap for being a really simple buddy, but he's definitely the least intrusive companion.
@@chopedmannot really tho, the only objective advantage most vehicles have over D-horse is their ability to hold more than 1 guard, and that's only the cars, trucks give you only 1 space and it's slower, and armored vehicles give you none whatsoever, and even cars are more clunky and risky to ride since as pointed out in the video you can't react if someone sees you. And most importantly, D-horse is cheaper than a car and controls much more smoothly than a car It's also really funny how you can stop every vehicle without wasting a single bullet if you put D-horse on their way
The most effective thing about D-Horse is the ability to stash VIPs on that can't be fultoned. Since you can just call on D-horse at anytime, missions like Codtalker is easy because you don't have to carry him and can focus on engagement or stealth.
Well, D-Horse is good for transportation and time. Which is important for trying to get an S rank in a good chunk of missions, but for boss fights I'd take Quiet or D-Walker
Thanks for this video, it's reminded me of just how useful D-Horse really is. He can also be used as a distraction for enemy vehicles by parking him on the road like in backup, back down so that way you can sneak up behind the vehicle and extract it. It makes backup, back down (a mission which is otherwise a nightmare; especially on extreme) a cakewalk. And like you said, he's still the most effective means of transport in the game with his ability to jump over small rocks, the fact that you can hide on him and use your guns on him plus he costs nothing to use too.
Aldonos I remember one particularly bad run on "back up ,back down", D-Horse actually died when I got spotted by a APV. Before I restarted the mission I noticed that if I lay behind D-Horse's body, it became a very useful piece of cover against the APV's guns. Even in death, D-Horse was helping me out.
I sometimes call him an anti-tank horse. The first reason is that it can keep up a moving vehicle and allow snake use launchers against it. He can also be placed in the middle of the road to block the path of enemy vehicles. Enemies will normally try to shoo him off while you sneak up from behind and Fulton them.
Ideas for more buddies Ocelot - human bud that has various commands. Uses revolver. Aquired pretty early D Bear - aquired after catching the legendary bear Fireteam - combat unit of 3 people that you control similar to ocelot
The fireteam reminded me a game, I think it's ghost recon, where you could target enemies and kill 4 people at the same time by synching your shots with the team
One very useful thing about him is that if you have to fight helicopters or tanks etc you can reload your rocket launcher whilst quickly dodging your enemies. Really increased survivability Edit: lol at 3:45 he points this out. Love this guy. Great reviews. And a great pair of ti-
You can use D Horse to basically S rank backup back down entirely by stopping the vehicles. Just hide behind something and leave him on the road, one after the other every IFV stops, honks at him, and then gets extracted by snake lol. He’s so useful for getting enemy vehicles to cooperate, and the poop is honestly clutch. Have him poop in front of Malak’s 4wd and you can extract both the IFV and the jeep before the guards recover, and if you do that right outside the palace you’ll even still have time to rescue the other prisoners
I would say D horse is good for stealth, depending on how you like to play. I love using the stealth camo and you can just pop it on D horse and to the guards he just looks like a normal horse. You have mobility, offence and defence with an excellent cloak, as long as you play carefully.
Another useful function is that if you gallop at enemy soldiers backsides, D-Horse will always be able to knock them out before they can alert others in the area if you charge at them.
Hey man i just wanna say your editing is really nice, i like it a lot and you get to the point with information on all these buddy vids, keep up the work and you should get all the subs in the world
I've watched the other guides by now, and I just wanna say your shit is super insightful and really helping me play MGS5. And yes, I am just now playing the game even after getting super immersed in the series years ago. Not having a PS4 helped with that.
He also has two dlc outfits "western tack" and "parade tack" you can get them with the definitive edition of the game or you can buy them in the online store
d horse can also be left in the path of oncoming vehicles, which makes them stop and shoo him away, which makes it easy to run over and throw some c4 on them or fulton them. its a great strategy for both the normal and extreme versions of that vehicle destruction mission
That's up to personal preference. Personally I've found d horse to handle a lot more naturally than d walker. I didn't even know about the "do it" command for d horse. I'll look into that the next chance I get. That being said, I've never taken or would even think of taking d horse into a combat situation.
D Walker really sucks in Afghanistan. Can't jump over small rocks or anything so when I'm trying to travel it feels like he's constantly just bumping into everything which isn't a problem for D-horse. There are a lot of guard posts you can't really avoid in Afghanistan and since it's easier to stealthfully avoid them at full speed with D horse I feel he's much better there. D-Walker is great for Africa though since you can freely move wherever you want without worrying about guard posts and he drives right through trees.
Abraham Luna lol same , since i have snakes arm upgraded i just run around like a maniac playing music cassette tapes to make traveling by foot seem less boring and plus his running and avoiding obstacles animation is so seamless and beautiful that i just have an eye candy for the animation, having d-dog around with you just adds icing to the cake coz he just follows you almost about everywhere lol
Was looking for advice on controls but I guess i'm not missing anything. I'm used to the Red Dead Redemption horse controls and find it hard to (virtually) ride any other games' horses. D-horse seems "clunky" in comparison.. How do you do the 180 turn though?
I've heard people complain about the horse in Shadow of the Colossus and it's awkward controls, but I've never got around to playing it so I couldn't possibly comment. The quick 180 turn isn't really a special manoeuvre. You just pull back on the left stick. I only bought it up because vehicles like jeeps and trucks can't take evasive actions like that as well as D-Horse.
Like the gameplay itself, Agro(the horse in Shadow of the Colossus) takes some practice, but you can do some pretty neat tricks with her. You can accelerate from a dead stop, do a 180 in the middle of a full gallop, even stand up or hang off the side. She'll also automatically navigate to an extent and refuse to jump off ledges that are too high. The animators spent a lot of time making Agro look and act like an authentic horse. So much so, that if you abuse her by getting too close to a Colossus, shooting her, or giving her too many commands in a short period of time she will ignore you for a bit.
Ever heard about roach from witcher3 now tell me if D-Horse is cluncky out of all the games with mounts I found D-Horse handles better in my opinion right next to read dead redemption.
Primo X Earlier this year I've been playing this, RDR2, and AC Odyssey which all have horses as the main way of transportation. Each horse has their own set of controls so I've been having to adapt a lot
Ahh D Horse! My favorite and best buddy! Whether it's a stealth mission, a firefight or chilling in the sunset, Me and D Horse can't be separated If he dies and forced to be extracted, I die too
you forgot one thing about D-horse, if he hits any walls, he will literally stop and stay at a standstill for half a fucking year (like 5 seconds) and you can't move him, basically making you swiss cheese.
To stop a tank or armored vehicle with d horse simply dismount in the path they'll take and keep ordering him to take a crap before they blow their horn
dude D horse saved me from the skulls on one mission i didnt have any explosives and my cover was blown so i use d horse to run around keeping my distance as much as possible and emptying loads of bullets on them until they die
we should be able to use the horse, the dog and quiet at the same time.. and d walker should have a head that has all of his abilities and should be able to outfit him with more guns. also we should have a base on each map so we dont have to return to acc so supply drops can be cheaper. also ive captured 1000s of guards.. youd think we'd have a bunch of enemy uniforms in my size to fool the enemy with.
On steam using an xbox controller my horse wont run when I use the x button or square on playstation he woahs and the horse stops I can not make the horse go faster than a Trott why is this ?
awww the fire skin should at less make the enemy infantry run away and terror and not raise an alarm. Sadly I only found D-horse to be extremely useful on one mission. Backup, Back Down. Though Fulton Launcher D-Walker hurts D-horse usefulness in this mission. All and all. It the only companion I have never got to max bond.
Kojima could of added an offensive capability like commanding D-Horse to go up to a soldier and kicking him. Come on that's not a far fetched option, I mean you have D-dog take a knife and slit a mans throat with it.
As a hardcore stealth player D-Horse is the most useless buddy sadly i usually use D-Dog all he way or in certain missions Quit or Walker but D Horse has only been useful early game before i had any other companion which is pretty sad
"Is that what it's come to now? Cracking jokes about cripples?" hnngh, kaz. You know what i always say : every hole's a goal. And you just got 2 brand new holes for me to use...
