He goes for GP. GP has better guard potential and less knockback than regular guard, sets up for other moves like SAED, and, very importantly here, will also reflect some damage on the monster. If you notice, while Jho is doing his counter-bite, any damage will stagger him/knock him over. Rainy baited those counter-bites, and then used the recoil damage from the GP to stagger Jho
Even for saed a lot of the times, if you can play cleanly and target good hitzonez, elemental will do more damage especially if you are using either ice or dragon, because the charge blades from beotodus and Vaal are broken
@@danielmalmstone3566 as long as your "bottle" is not fully empty, your axe will be like chainsaw. Deal multiple damage in one attack. (I don't know what that thing calls in English, so I just called it bottle.)
@@danielmalmstone3566 Do you mean this chainsaw mode? If is, then is no. It holds as long as you still have phials. But every attacks in axe mode will consume one phial.
For charge blade I think it's best to use shield jewel 2 which gives guard up. That's a skill you want to have as you can block all attacks even ultimates and you can guard point everything that's basically charge blade heaven. Also use power prolonger and artillery for best damage. If you guard point a lot you could also use offensive guard
@@diegocasazza6489 I've actually never felt a need to have Guard Up on my charge blade. I used to have it on gunlance builds back in FU and 4U because you can't roll to evade, but charge blade is flexible enough that if I can't guard it I just roll and evade it. My comment was more in regards to how Guard affects the knockback you get from guarding- I haven't fought savage Jho a lot but he's very big and his physical attacks look powerful so I would expect them to knock you back to the point where you can't counter from guard point, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was doing Safi last night without any Guard skill and roar knocked me back so far I couldn't go into SAED. I'm just wondering what level of Guard is necessary for an agressive playstyle where you can guard point most attacks and be able to counter and at what level it's not making a significant difference and you'd do best to invest in more attack.
@@HarfelJ Oh i'm sorry personally I'm not that good with rolling perfectly all attacks, so that's why I prefer to just guard point to play more safely. Good for you if you're able to roll through anything hahah! Anyway, I think if you can have guard maxed up you can counter every attack and if you play like that I think it's fine, I'm not that interested into the meta so I don't really know if it's a must have skill with CB
If this was MHGen/GU-style Charge Blade, you wouldn't be able to do a Guard Point into an AED. Gen/GU's Charge Blade was trash. If anything, it's closer to MH4U-style Charge Blade.
