Nargacuga is back in MHX but why did we all lose it when if was announced you ask? Let's find out! Read all the comments I got here: gaijinhunter.tumblr.com/post/1... Happy hunting!
I really like the switch axe in MH4U. it's a relic weapon witch you can only get from guild quest. I really love the para hacks and the ice. it looks awsome to!
***** I remember when i was playing MhFU i remembered i 1st killed narga (with dijin i think)... Omg it felt so good. But i couldnt kill it after that haha
It was the first monster I tried in the special quests in mhfu with my brother, it was a super challenge as we were skeptical about fighting it at all, my bro dropped out half way and i stayed, losing of course since I was low level. It was still the hardest to fight while I played.
Rodrigo Domingos i doubt its a new monster. Only one monster has that signature eye trace, roar, and tail whip attack. And thats Narcaguga, is a bitch to farm in freedom unite ( I started with freedom unite on the psp).
Nargacuga is a good example of PERFECT monster design, it's a black flying bat-like panther dragon that moves like a ninja !! I'm hyped to hunt it again in MHX. Good video Gaijin Hunter btw
the hype is because its an all around great fight. Every time you get hit it feels like you made the mistake instead of some wonky hitbox manipulation. Its one of the least BS hunts Ive personally found. Also the weapons and armor are pretty decent, especially weapons that utilize decent affinity well.
***** Unfortunately we wont be getting Lagiacrus back until they find a way to make water work better. I wish they would bring Ivory back in MHX, but I doubt they'd bring in a subspecies without the base monster. At least Agnaktor is back, so one of the Leviathans is returning. (Hopefully some Brute wyverns come back as well 'cause 4U only had 2 of them)
***** I think he could come back and still be very enjoyable. We had zamtrios in 4u and it was obvious that he could be a water monster. Besides, we all saw that ivory lagi was still a huge threat even without water. And I think that since Agnaktor is back and the leviathan monster type is back, it would be dumb to only have one leviathan. I know bubbles will also probably be a leviathan and nibblesnarf is as well, but its not like they'll cut monsters out of the games entirely just because they're not enjoyable at first.
My Prowler (Nyanta) in Generations is black, with the sopty fur pattern to look like scales on the limbs, pointed ears, bright red eyes, and the bushy tail. His name is Nyargacuga.
When you said, about MHFU: "this was the title where many monster hunter veterans in the west where born" I realized I have been playing for 10 years and just now on my fourth entry of the game (mhxx) learned to use the dual blades properly. Kinda interesting how a series stays with you in such a way you're still giving yourself the freedom of learning stuff that was always there but was left "unlearned". I'd say the most traumatized I've been by a monster in Monster Hunter was when I first fought Tigrex, and it was a double Tigrex quest on top of that, in MHFU. I tried countless times, to no avail. From timeouts to tripple carts, what saved me on that quest, I remember well, was farming a previous double Nargacuga quest on the Great Forest, to get it's armor. And that was also one of my first Nargacuga hunts. It's interesting how even after not playing for a year or two, Nargacuga's moves were burned in the mind, enough you feel like you know the monster almost as if you were him, and you still know exactly what he's gonna do next. Such a big turning point, and just, as mundane as it was, in a way, you know, grab the PSP, hunt a couple of Nargacugas and Tigrexes, left some fond memories. And it's kinda fun because if you look at it from the outside it's just a kid sitting in a chair playing in his PSP, what's so special about what he's doing? Looking back, seeing the countless hours of entertainment I got from playing Monster Hunter games, I realize MHFU was one of, it not the most well spent money ever!
I born on freedom, and I fell in love with MH series, I still remember how Kutku was a pain in the ass the first time, and how I get so fucking hyped when I faced rathalos for first time omg, my favorite monster, after I discovered MHFU my life was changed because gun lance and that guy, yeah that guy on the intro was my next objective that shining eyes were so spectacular for me especially seeing it in game the effect on PSP was truly beautiful at that time :') I can't believe how this franchise grow up, "Eternal Hunter" ^-^
I can't say I like narga because of nostalgia (mostly because I was unfortunate enough to have played the original Monster Hunter as my first), but at the time narga was unique in that he didn't just insta charge or beam spam (plus his hitboxes weren't as terrible as the rest) and was Capcom's first step in the right direction in terms of monster design. Narga isn't my favorite monster but we owe him for the changes he influenced.
me too! my first mh was 3U but i kinda droped it because i couldn't bear underwater fights, even with the circle pad pro. except for lagi which was just a beauty to behold underwater.
I remember playing mhfu and whenever my cat threw a bomb at narga I was always like: "Nooooo don't make him angrier!" Because it had the effect of sonic bombs which auto enraged him i remember
Feegan da man Yeah that was when I was still new to the game. I eventually switched cats because it was so annoying. Specially when they try to throw it at the monster but hit you instead.
The mhfu straight up will make you good at the game. The moment you defeat ukanlos solo and finished the monster hunter quest with rathalos, tigrex, nargacuga, rajang as the ultimate goal back then you can flex in your noob friends who is stuck in green plesioth lmao. Good ol days
Nargacuga really stands out from the other monsters on MHFU. You can really see how the devs had improved the detailing and animation, as well as the hit boxes from the previous version of the game. Side stepping his tail swipe without evasion also feels so nice, even though its pretty easy to do.
I think narga was the only monster I wouldn't mind fighting a thousand time to get mantles/heavenly scales (am I the only one that thinks that heavenly scale is better than mantle? It sounds cooler at least .-.) He was fun, fast, adorable and his weapons had incredible designs. Also, you forgot to mention that in MHFU/MH2G, he was the urgent for G2 (?), so you new that this guy was gonna kick ass ;) Also... Lucent was epic, but his spikes were so damn annoying... you could be in the opposite corner and the spikes would still reach you and poison you on top of that. He was also the one that made me start using the kelbi bow because I was unable to break his face/wings ;.;
Nargaruga is the most challenging wyvern in mhfu, out of the rage he's not too much of an issue, but if your fucking cat dropped a bomb it was like well, now im going to duplicate my speed strength and awesomeness, and fuck you up at record speed
i didn't play freedom unite, but in 4U, i used narga's armor set and it got me through most of g rank, to the point i "bonded" with it. it also looked very cool. and it would be nice if there were more of those videos about other monsters, just like there was the one about the guild emblem.
ArceusDX exactly. i mean, some monsters are references to various creatures from our world's mythologies or a fusion of real world animals. a series of videos that focused on clarifying such stuff would be nice.
and i agree with gaijin that there's something special about the flagship monster of the first mh you play and how you sorta "bond" with it. mine was 3U and lagi fights were fun ones, despite underwater sections and not having played past low rank.
jp mesquita Do you still have 3U? If you've played 4U now, you can play through 3U ;) Narga is in there too, so you can experience one of everyone's favourite monster! :D I didn't play 2G till after 3, but narga is still in my top 2. :)
I miss fighting silverwind nargacuga, the monster and weapon design also super great, nice videos man, hope you can deliver more videos like this, and also more lore about monster deviant and subspecies !! Really enjoyed your videos
They lost their collective shit? What I imagine: they brought a bucket, everybody shit in, they put the bucket down, the presentation began and the bucket was gone
People see Tigrex: 👏👏👏👏 People see Narga: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 People see Barrioth: -_- I like Barrioth design and weapon but it fight like an ass ITS THE AERIAL PLESIOTH!!!!(When i fight Barrioth it spamm Hipcheck a lot)
I can relate to allthatmh because monster hunter is not just a game to me its a friend in a world where no one likes you so theres my reason why I love monster hunter. thanks capcom.
I'm just incredibly happy you chose my comment to share with the rest of the world, Narga remains one of my favorite monsters and is the main reason I turn MH3U back on from time to time
interestingly, narga was NOT in my starting game, i started on tri, and my favorite monster from tri was Quropeco (don't judge, after getting sent to fight great jaggi like 10x, i was extatic to fight ANYTHING ELSE) i managed to get my hands on a ported over version of 3portable, and narga was there... and green narga... and i fell in love with the bad ass dragon - cat - bat -thing... wheras mobs like rathalos are all RAAAR FEAR MY SCARIENESS!!! narga is just like 'please... i don't need to be big... I JUST EAT YOUR FACE!!!" it was also my first experience with dual blades, and the combination of green narga giving something like evasion + and stamina drain down + attack (gems op) combined with dualies was just amazing... i fought that thing so many times... never got to fight lucent though... for me, narga was a great tonal shift of the giant "fear me" big mobs i was used to, sure he was scary, but it was in a batman way compared to something like tigrex who literally just screams at you a lot, similar idea with shageru magala, but that's more on the 'mystery' side, of 'wtf is going on with this guy'
Sorry to disagree with you but I hate qurupeco ,one of my hated monster, (PS: my most hated is gigginox and its giggis) for 3 things: 1) it acts like a spoiled brat especially when it gets angry 2) I hated its attacks especially the one where it lights fire with its wings 3) when it calls a much bigger threat monster than itself like jho
Brilliant new series sir!! You should consider doing these types of videos for a few other monsters!! Namely Jinouga and Rathalos who happen to be other flagships as well (but i'm sure you already knew that :D) Love your content by the way. Cheers and may the Hunt be ever in your favour \m/
I love Nargacuga because in MH3U it was the monster I hunted so much to get its awesome armour and weapons. It really is a great fight too which really sets this monster as rememberable.
I've seen this video twice before, but I felt the need to come back to it since I just faced this magnificent beast for the first time. Such a fun fight, I use dual blades normally, so anytime I'm fighting a very agile monster with them it always feels great.
My friend had a copy of this game and I never even heard of this franchise, so he made me make a file and play it, and I would play that file every time I came over, then I ran into Nargacuga, and he has been my favorite monster to this day.
narga inspired me to become a ninja( along with ethoslab) XD its armor and weapons are some of the best in the game(s)! hence narga is one of my favorites!
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite was my first MH game. I completely fell in love with Nargacuga back then, and he remains to this day my favourite monster. I am so excited about having him in MHGU also, as playing on the Switch is a completely new and wonderful experience for me. Great content as always!
That's very true about the flagship monster of the entry you started in being special. My start with MH was with Tri and I always smile when I see Lagiacrus
I started on 3u and therefore never got to understand the hype, but now i do! I like how you distinguished tigrex and narga by their movements, wish you or maybe someone else could disect and analyze similar monsters like that and make them more special :)
Narga and his armor was simply my favorite by design. It looked like a rad mix between a cat, a bat, and a dragon, and like you mentioned, it taught me a lot of the evasion skills I know now, and completely turned the hunting style I had before completely on its head. I only just got a Wii U a couple weeks ago and never owned a Wii, so I never had MH3U online capabilities and I never made it to Lucent Narga. I hope they bring it in MHX so i can finally experience it myself instead of vicariously on RU-vid
This is interesting, I have the virtually the same feelings even though my first MonHun was Tri on the Wii. I'm the one that introduced the series to my brother and friends. As we all got more into in my little brother ended up with a copy of Freedom Unite when he got a PSP, and we both were interested in not only the Tigrex you run into at the start, but the Nargacuga on the cover, I was super excited when they announced Narga was going to be in 3U further cementing my decision to buy a Wii U day one I could never get a handle on the PSP controls and never got far into Freedom Unite, so having Narga in the generation I started on was awesome, I was a tad disappointed I never got to actually fight Tigrex til 4U, but he was worth the wait as well. I really hope Barioth gets put into X, I was super sad when I didn't get to fight my favorite Ice-kitty.
I started on Monster hunter Unite before Freedom came out and because of this Narga(Diablos being my second favorite) became my all time favorite. I actually hunted over a thousand nargas because the fight never got old. I was always feeling powerful fighting it and he just felt like one of the greatest challenges you could get.I always wore the full narga set and that's what got me into the evade lancer style and loved it ever since. I onestly hope to god we get to have a Narga as a monster buddy in that Monster story spin off game. It would really bring a lot of old memories and just make me downright happy..
I started playing monster hunter at mh 3u and narga is still one of my favorite monsters. the glowing red eyes really sell it for me and i love the lucient naraga plus all the armor/weps looks amazing!
+Roberto :D me too. it's ugly as hell and it can be very annoying at times, although an insect glaive can make things easier. my favorite in 4U is definetly gore/shagaru.
back in 3U, lagi is definetly my favorite, but duramboros is a close second just because of how "derpy" it seems the idea of a giant stone beyblade that throws itself at you. i hope he comes back, truly.
+Magmafrost13 Yay another Brachy hater! :D Thank you, thank you.. I thought I was alone.. I still hate it. First monster that ever made me loose a quest and till this day gives me a rough time.
I started with 4u and the Tetsucabra was the first monster I farmed and made armor out of, I was really new to the game and learning it's attack patterns and improving each fight really felt accomplishing. The toads armor is also very cool looking and made the cutscenes and story much more satisfying.
I just love fighting him! That fight is so incredibly fun once you know him like the palm of your hand. I recall doing some perfect runs on him and all, I hope my knowledge of the fight is still there if MHX comes here.
this might be very unpopular, but i didnt like him in mhfu. i felt like it was a reskin of tigrex, and i really hated tigrex (because he always combo killed me with his charge, which i still think is really bad design, nowadays you can stay on the ground, which makes it a lot better)
No, please, don't bring Lucy back. Had to solo 3U and it was not a fun fight, at all. He's irritating above all else, but damn if his weapons weren't good. I really, really don't want him, I'd rather a Goldbeard/Regular Ceadeus double fight. Also, can I finally get to play a game with Narga and Tigrex in them at the same time? Please? I missed out on FU, and it would be _awesome_ to have both.
***** You know what we need instead? Molten Tigrex and Lucent Nargacuga double quest. On 4U's Tower, not the large 3U one. Also, instead of poison, Lucent now gives Bleed.
Seeing Nargacuga on the front of Freedom Unite is what made me get the game in the first place. I love sleek monsters, so Nargacuga was a nice change compared to Rathalos and Yian Garuga, who are badass monsters in their own right, but just had times where they were merely aggravating due to their poison and constant windpress. My next game was 4U, which I've almost 100% the achievements in, and Nargacuga armour ended up being my go-to armour for my playstyle with Switch Axes. Heck, I still use it to fight lv 140 guild quests, and I'm sad the hidden axe ended up being a relic weapon. My girlfriend got me 3U for my birthday and I'm just about to reach Nargacuga again. This monster just made everything I loved about playing monster hunter, from the roar to the evasion learning curve it presented. I'm so glad to see Narga back in MHX, I can't wait for it to hit the west.
Smith Word. Barioth definitely one of my favorites, but I only found him fun in Tri. It greatly disappointed me how radically they changed him for the worse after his first appearance.
When I was playing mhfu I was a long sword main (I know like the rest of the world) and I was a huge fan of purple sharpness, affinity and long swords that changed shape when the bar was full. The narga weapons were those three things all rolled in one. Side Note: If I remember correctly the long swords that changed were Narga: Extra spikes (so cool) Chameleos: The sword would go invisible (so cool!) Daora and Shogun Ceantaur: The sword would open
Touching on the point that Gaijin made that MH is another universe that we can escape into. For example, I have chronic pain issues and when I started playing 3U I had depression problems and I wasn't able to get to school most days. I always thought of myself in the game as a jolly hammer-man xD, and one could say, my other self. And that impacted on my life a lot, I started getting to school more, I started getting out more and I became much happier. And even in real life I started acting like my in-game self. MH was a life-saver for me :).
"This is another sentiment of why we love Monster Hunter. It really is a nice escape from reality. It does give us another universe to be a different version of ourselves, and to overcome just wild, wild challanges, and feel acomplished. The best thing of all is that the community is cooperative, not competitive." - Gaijin Hunter, August 15, 2015
Thanks for this video! I started with 4U so while I could understand aesthetically why Narga's so popular, I didn't really get the overall hype for him during the MHX livestream. Looking forward to hunting him! #MHXForTheWest
Sweeet! I never played tri but i did play mhfu. Narga was my first real wall and was the monster that really taught me not to be greedy with my attacks. Seeing narga really brings back the good memories i had in mhfu and nightmares of the dual plesioth quests....
I had barely heard of Narga before MHGen but it’s one of my favorite monsters now, right up there with my first flagship Gore Magala. It’s a fantastic, fast paced fight and the music that plays is great. Plus I was maining Switch Axe at the time, and Narga’s armor is perfect for non-adept SA.
3u was my first game, and when I first started playing, I looked up trees for all the weapons, looked at all the late game armor, when I stumbled across the Eclipse Tone. It almost spoke to me, like I knew that was my dream weapon, and I wanted it with gigginox armor set because it seemed optimal for what I wanted. I told my friend who introduced me into the game and he said "Oh, that's a Lucent weapon." I asked, "What's a Lucent?" And all he would say is that I'll have to wait and see. like a hundred hours later I finally got to fight it, and I immediately fell in love with it. Such a fun and tricky fight. The eclipse tone was within reach, but I had the worst luck. I had to fight it over 50 times to finally get the part I needed, and I never got tired of the fight. My Palico in 4u is named Lucent and I spent like 30 minutes trying to get it to look as close to the real thing as possible XD I was so sad I couldn't fight my old friend in 4u, or even trade into parts for its weapon.
Imho, my favorite poster boy of the series is the zinogre, I don't know what it is, but there is alwasy something charming about figthing this monster that has this charged up mode with really quick moves and electricity coming out everywhere. Theres also the fact that you can catch bugs on his back and that's cool
I literally just fought him for my first time in MHGU. It is easily my favorite monsters thus far. It really clicked with my adept long sword build and it was really cool.
My first game into the series was been MH3U on the 3DS, and my friend who got me into it said that they felt like Nargacuga was going to be my favorite monster once I encountered it. I started saying Lagombi was adorable, then Barioth the snow leopard monster (he reigns second on my list now), but once I met Nargacuga I fell in love with it. He's a black cat bat dragon monster and a very kickass looking one at that. His theme is amazing, its attacks are unique and it's overall a graceful looking monster to watch when you're not being pummeled too much. I am SO excited to see Narga coming into Cross now since I've really been missing him in 4U. Tigrex has grown on me, but he still isn't a Barioth or a Narga.
I started in 4 Ultimate, so Gore Magala/Shagaru Magala is my flagship monster. But Nargacuga is definitely one of my favorites too. Finally got to hunt him for the first time in Gen Ultimate today, and I see why everyone is so hyped about him. I can't wait to get the Silverwind gear.
